this lady is an idiot. if you want to drive throufh the toll boths without stoping Bring you transponder. theres a sticker on every car that explains the whole thing, btw its 10 bucks. did that lady really bring this to some shitty news stations attention for 10 bucks?

It's not an unjustified fee. There isn't a transponder in the rental vehicle, rather the payment of the toll depends on the lookup of the license plate, which requires the equipment to take the photograph, the personnel time to do the matching. Platepass is a third party company, not a part of Hertz. They offer a useful service.
