It was a theory that the earth is not flat, but round, and there is no solid proof, because the trips to the moon were a lie. No one knows the secrets of the skies. It may be true and may not. My language also allow the use of this word to describe the expand of a carpet including the expand of the earth. Yes, I agree, it will sound weird in "english". but not in Arab n many of other languages including my language. Sure the ignorant in power did hinder that significantly. However, that's all politics. The Judeo Christian scripture does not teach a flat earth. You have to rationalize a flat earth interpretation from the Bible in order to justify it.

Some *interpret* that as "made into an egg shape" which could make sense if it was perfectly spherical before that, because an egg is flatter than a sphere, but the word doesn't mean that. and I don't buy that interpretation at all, Muhammad most likely thought the Earth was flat.

While I can appreciate the "scientists" viewpoint, I believe we new the moon was round quite a while prior to landing astronauts on it. I don't think that was our confirmation. As a matter of fact, I think the math that was used to get them there absolutely depended on the fact that the moon and the earth were both round.

@calgacvus Gravity is considered a "force" only because you can apply Newtonian equations to describe falling objects. Newtonian equations doesn't distinguish between throwing an apple and one falling from a tree. If it's moving then it's moving. As far as what gravity really "is" is another matter. That's where Einstein comes in.
