  • It's not just that. The large companies want to have control over the information pipe we call the internet. As things stands now the government has to step in. They want to be able to do it themselves. By putting the responsibility on the service providers large media companies can scare them into to doing the work. Send an official letter to the provider and maybe use a few SALPS to keep them scared. I also thinkt here re political interests that wish to quash many forms of public dissent.

  • I agree that SOPA is wrong (haven't looked at PIPA yet, opencongress when I have some time), but disagree with your demonizing the industry.

The bill would've given the DA the power to enforce action against site that repeatedly violate the copyright of REGISTERED copyright-holders, only 'shutting them down' if no action is taken to "insure" (e.g. as YouTube does already) that copyright-violation ends.

  • @mythmanjay And yet they did it without passing either bill. Curious.

  • This one scares me even more..

  • @TheShortStory ACTA is very sacry and sorta old. Check my mirror and the links in the description of this video. What is really bad about ACTA is that it has real world physical implications with respect to freedom and even freedom of movement.
