  • their was this part of the movie when these guys they call "Provos" came into the

church and arrested their own. why? They both wear grey ( the only difference is that

the provos were wearin elbow and chest lengthed coats and the ones who got arrested weren't) so......why?

  • @Addiskrilla the provos were provost, basically a MP (military police) for lack of better term. The soldiers in the church deserted (left their unit and tried to escape) which was, back then, and still today, a serious crime. It was punishable by death back then. So the Provost was sent to capture them before they could escape.

  • The best/saddest movie of all time, with an awsome theme song. Thanks for posting XD

  • This movie is kind of an American "All Quiet on the Western Front" in the way that everyone dies, as the realities of war are presented as vignettes.

A great unforgettable movie, that I first saw like so many others in 1968 at age 14.

  • 1:05 to 1:15 and nothing else matters..

  • I was lucky enough to see this movie last night for the first time in years. I loved this movie as a preteen and like Keeper I never made the Harrison Ford connection. I did have a crush on Jan Michael Vincent. I remember crying during the movie. I loved how at the end when they let him go back home. I will have to look for this on dvd.

  • @SHC87 Yes, I was surprised to see Harrison Ford in this movie when I first saw it years ago--this must have been one of his first acting roles, back when nobody knew who he was.

  • Thank you !

  • Thanks for posting the opening and closing themes. Saw this on the big screen back in 1968,and it's still a favorite.

  • Sorry, it might be Elmer Bernstein, either way, nice.

  • I loved this movie too. The opening and ending songs combined with the sadness of the fates of the characters and good acting just made it really memorable for me as a kid. From the novel by Will James and a good score by Leonard Bernstein.

  • I love this movie. First saw it when I was 14. Paul Petersen told me I could get it on Ebay. I remembered James Caan, Michael Sarrazin, and Jan, but never made the connection with Harrison Ford. Those men were too fine to forget.

  • I like Harrison Ford very much. He's Indiana Jones, my favourite hero ever! He gave life to the character.

  • Apparently the belly of a young guy was the target of choice because in two civil movies, in one a reb and in the other a blue belly, a young Paul Peterson was gut shot twice.

  • I saw this movie in the UK in the early 80's. I never forgot how good it was and I'm also going to purchase it soon. Thanks !

  • DVD is out on this movie... just go to the internet ... I was able to get a copy

  • There is a DVD out... find it on the internet.... there are businesses that sell old movies....

  • I love this movie..... do you know that Harrison Ford is in this movie?

  • No plans for DVD anytime soon I guess, I'm

still waiting for Tobruk as well !

    Jman

  • Holy ...!! Thanks for uploading this! I'm featuring it at my Harrison's channel

  • Harrison Ford looks impressive even this early on.

  • I remember seeing this movie as a kid. The only one of the 7 guys I'd heard of was Paul Peterson from the Donna Reed Show. What a cast...James Caan, Harrison Ford, Jan Michael Vincent, Michael Sarrazin. Thanks for posting this.

  • Oh MAN, the childhood memories this movie brings back!!!

I would love this on DVD.

Watch for Buck in "The Godfather", Miller in "The Gumball Rally", Todo in "Joe Kidd" and Willie Bill in... ahh you know!

  • most of the battle scenes were also used in shenandoah

  • This movie is awsome!

  • Good Movie!

  • Thank you so much. THis has been my favorite Movie for years, but i could not find the movie anywhere. and then i see you had the clip up, so I Just had to ask for the Opening and ending songs, and I must say Thank you so much,
