I have reservations about a windmill start after switching tanks. Ok, bad judgement on the tank select but sacrifice alt when you have a starter? Seems more of an exercise.

Un mio vecchio istruttore, che non si dava arie, ma che aveva in compenso fatto la guerra, mi aveva mostrato anche lui tale manovra col Cub. Oggigiorno però, i cagasotto non vogliono ammettere che avete i coglioni e, per sembrare loro quelli giusti, vi qualificano come pazzi irresponsabili.

Ho fatto vedere il video a un mio amico che è stato pilota militare sul 104 e m'ha detto che magari è un pò da esibizionisti, ma che a suo avviso non c'era nessun rischio concreto in quanto erano alti e sopra una zona agricola.
L'unica cosa che poteva essere dannosa per l'aereo era l'eccessivo raffreddamento, ma dato che dal colore dei campi si deduce che era estate...
Se lo dici tu...ma quel cessnino io non lo userei...anche perchè hanno inventato lo starter a batteria apposta x questi problemi.....comunque vabbe rimane una cosa da esibizionisti...se fosse successo davvero non so se questo video sarebbe qua.....anche perchè a mio avviso un pilota privato senza esperienza va in panico fidati...
Un mio amico pilota, che snobbava questo video, ha cercato di mostrarmi che tale manovra è una semplice "cazzata". Dopo essere riuscito con molta difficoltà a spegnere il motore e fermare l'elica, ha iniziato la picchiata per far ripartire il motore, ma, quando l'aereo ha iniziato a prendere velocità, si è cagato sotto ed ha fatto ripartire il motore con lo starter elettrico. Che figura!! Tutti bravi a criticare, ma poi, se messi loro alla prova pratica, fanno solo figuracce.
E' UN VIDEO VERAMENTE MOLTO PIACEVOLE ANCHE SE LE BESTEMMIE NON SONO DI MIO GRADIMENTO. COMPLIMENTI PER IL MANICO!!!! Peccato per certi commenti stupidi fatti da persone invidiose che probabilmente non sanno nemmeno come si fa a far volare un aereo. Non sono d'accordo. Mi sembra giusto che i piloti con le palle diano prova di averle. Non so perchè, ma in genere quelli che non hanno le palle quadre a volare additino i piloti ganzi come matti! ....io comunque ritengo che sia stato un errore nella selezione del serbatoio e non una bravata.
Il c150 non ha il selettore del serbatoio...è stato uno spegnimento volontario!infatti l'aereo era al limite dello stallo per far fermare l'elica dopo aver spento il motore,si sente l'avvisatore suonare...
In my opinion it's something silly, in my opinion an engine must never be turned off whilst in flight. The stall warning is heard, so a prop does not windmill at such a slow airspeed, something less than 60KIAS on a cessna 152 if i'm correct. also,.. what about the restart procedure?

the voices sound phony and rehearsed; they pulled mixture to simulate running out of fuel. The air start proves there was nothing wrong with the engine, and they had plenty of fuel. If there was something wrong with engine it wouldn't have restarted, if they were out of fuel, ditto. Fake.
You'd have to switch off all avionics because the transient voltage that accompanies the use of the starter could cause some damage. So whenever you have enough altitude, it's a common procedure to re-start the engine that way (at least that's how I know it from our ol' motorglider).
If the engine quits in flight, the prop will windmill, not stop.

As a minor point, turn the ignition off until the prop starts turning, lest it backfire and stop the prop on the wrong side of a compression stroke.
And you have to go really fast.

Guarda che non è affatto una manovra pericolosa e illegale, anche perchè al tempo che fù me l'ha insegnata un'istruttore.
Quando si facevano gli stalli con il Cub, capitava a volte che si spegnesse il motore.
E il Cub non aveva lo starter.
Come pensi che si faceva ripartire il motore, uscendo sulla cappottatura e facendo girare l'elica??
Comunque eravamo quasi a 5000 piedi, in una zona agricola oltretutto...non vedo questo gran pericolo...
