@bugz000 You obviously have not been shot by an airsoft gun. Getting shot at 500 FPS with (what I am guessing) a .20 gram BB will hurt like a bitch. I've been shot point blank with a gun that is only 340 FPS and the skin was penetrated and was bleeding like heck. It hurt extremely bad, made me scream and jump around. They hurt a lot more than most people think would.

i have a lumix (panasonic) FZ47 if i go into the settings im suppose to be able to control the shutter speed, and the range is from 30fps to 20,000fps, wich makes absoluteley no sense o.o the instruction manual says absoluteley nothing, im disapointed.

@masicklazik Shutterspeed is measured in seconds, so the camera probably can allow you to adjust the shutter's speed from 1/30th of a second to 1/20,000th of a second. The faster the speed, the darker the image will look since it isn't letting as much light in, BUT it will reduce motion blurs big time. Slow motion is measured in frame rate so I think you are stuck at 30 fps. Panasonic makes great cameras, I have one too.

If you shoot it directly head on dead center edge it's essentially the same thing as shooting something made of the same material as thick as the diamater of the CD so it actually makes alot of sense it didn't shatter first shot compared to hitting on the face of the disk which is hitting something of the same material but alot thinner... if my wording of that I'm trying to say made any sense to anyone...

That's very interesting - whenever I ahve shot CDs, the pellet just goes straight through. That's using an undelever Weblery MkIII with .22 roundhead pellets. They just punch straight through and do very little damage to the rest of the disc. I assume that is something to do with the speed they are going. By the way taofledermaus, if you want some good targets to shoot, and cheap - shoot Discos - those cruddy crisps from a few years back. Nice and circular and will explode on impact. Nice video

@hugleberthumperdink Try shooting the CD on the edge. They are pretty strong in that direction, really fragile when you shoot the face of it. Airsoft bb's will tear them up. I thought hitting the edge would shatter it, so it was a big surprise. I thought I had missed the CD's completely until I reviewed the camera footage.

@hugleberthumperdink the reason the cd didnt get absolutely fucked is because this video is a fake the shooter is hitting his targets from a sligh angle it becomes quite clear if you pay careful attention to the video, especially in the razor blade scene :)

@benjamun3058 If you believe that then you don't know what you're talking about. The first shot at the razor blade the pellet hit low and bounced around right in front of the blade. If it was shot at an angle of any sort it would have immediately bounce out of the camera's view.

very nice shots. I think it would be interesting to see what my pellet guns would do. I have a Gamo BigCat(1200fps with there"special" pellets but 1000fps with normal lead .177pellets), and a Beeman rifle(also shoots at 1000fps).

you've got to think if the barrel is rifled, that would add rotational torque to the impact.

there's a place that sells rifled PVC barrels for spud guns, and some CLEAR PVC (SCH40) rifled barrels at that! (hint hint!)

I have a short piece of clear PVC, I think it is 3". I think it was a remnant from a job at work. It would be pretty cool to have an all clear barrel though- rifled or not. I would think over time it would be hard to keep it clear and clean and free of scratches. It would be very cool to see in slow motion though.

my dad has like 3 made, instead of using a spark to ignite the flame, i modified one to use a candle lighter after drilling a hole in the side. if you really want power, you can seal the hole around the candle lighter, hook up a bike pump, and use compressed air to really make it tight, the potato will go half a mile

I did shoot a bread knife with an airsoft and those split like crazy or would shear a chip off the bb and make it spin wildly and curve around. The airsoft bb's are a lot easier for the camera to pick up, the bright green ones show up nicely.

It's a 177 at 12 feet or so, with open sights. It took a few tries. I'm not the best shot by any means!

I should have taken a still photo of the cardboard. It didn't look like the pellet did much to it, but it tore about half way through it until it got spit out the side. I chose razorblades because I couldn't find anything thinner!
