  • Dude, your an amazing instructor

  • this actually helped me soo much

  • He said G-string and scream in the same video..

  • Good video. My addition: The sweet spots for the picking hand to hit are the natural harmonic spots in the bridge area ! search natural harmonic spots in the bridge area, pick at one of these spots for doing artificial harmonics and there you have your good artificial harmonics ! This was a real eye opener tip for me personally...

  • 2:21 - 2:40 THATS WHAT SHE SAID LMAO

  • @mkbitchin26 ahahahaha yh

  • Having problems with this... I have a Gibson custom built Les Paul and a fender amp. The pedal I use is a boss ds-1 distortion.

  • Wow, I've been doing it wrong all this time.. My technique was working, but not 100% of the time. Please check out my video on pinch harmonics and tell me if you have ever seen it done like that before. Thank you for the help though! Rock on bro!

  • SLIPKNOT SUCK

  • @MrPotatoDooM troll on man troll on

  • 666 videos LOL

  • i recently saw a video of slash and i wanted to know what that sound was and u just nailed it to me, thankyou so much. helped me a lot!

  • the guy from slipknot?

  • so you want your thumb to dig in,,, not letting ur thumb touch the string after your strike it

  • Whats the guitar hanging up in the back called? Not the Strar.. the other one.

  • I'm an intermediate guitarist, and have managed to do pinch harmonics when holding the pick like that, but I have trouble with accidentally hitting pinch harmonics when I don't want to when I hold the pick like that, so I tend to hold it differently and switch pick-holding techniques when I'm ready for the pinch harmonics. That's quite annoying, however. For the more experienced guitarists, how do you prevent that sort of thing from happening? Do you have to keep changing technique like that?

  • "That guy from Slipknot."

JIM ROOT AND MICK THOMPSON! THAT'S THEIR NAMES! ><

  • WHAT ABOUT DIMEBAG DARRELL?!?!

  • @Metal8909 Dime is the unbeaten King of pinch harmonic..

  • @Saadsabbath Hell yeah is he is, the has written riffs with just pinch harmonics \m/

  • By gain is always at 10, maybe that's why I suck at NATURAL harmonics xD

  • kirk hammett yeah ! lol :D

  • @MrMetallicafan123456 boooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • after 20 minutes of practicing if finally came out 20 times in a row :D

  • kirk hammett = joe satriani xD

  • Do you need a special type of amp or what

  • @GAMERwithASOUL12 as long as the amp can distort your guitar and a guitar thats at least half decent then youll be able to do pinch harmonics

  • @MetalorGTFO well im goonna have tp get a new guitar :D

  • @GAMERwithASOUL12 what guitar do you have?

  • @MetalorGTFO ibanez rx series 40 but the strings are like 5 years old

    and a squier sidekick amp

  • @GAMERwithASOUL12 hmm...idk..if the amp has an ok overdrive on it, you probably can..change your strings lol XD

  • @MetalorGTFO it dosen't and i think im goona get a new guitar anway and i problaby do need to change the strings anaway :D

  • his guitar kinda looks like mine gibson sg what exactly does he have?

  • @xxAlexLoves182xx It's a Paul Reed Smith, the McCarty model I think.

  • gettin' the hang of it.....

  • My guitar teacher told me about this. I went home played around and accidently discovered lol. My current guitar is crap so i can't use them to their full extent.

  • @pwner589 i hate you

  • The "guy from Slipknot" is Mick Thompson just saying he DOES have a name

  • was up good people !

  • he almost jizzed when he mentioned Zach Wylde...

  • @CharlieDunn13 its Zakk not Zach Wylde

  • Yeah some real good guitarist do this like; Zakk Wlyde,That bitch from slipnkot, blah blahand blah blah.

  • @sinangunz1990 did u drink the hatorade or wat

  • @hotdawgish no i drank wat

  • You have to strike the harmonic halfway between the fret and the bridge for an octave harmonic, for example: fret at the 12th fret, you should be picking and striking over the 24th fret. For octave 5th, you have to pick 1/3rd of the way from the bridge, for example: open string, pick at the 19th fret, and for the double-octave, 1/4, for example: 5th fret, pick over the (imaginary) 29th fret.

It's important for harmonic melodies to position the pick accurately, or you'll just play random notes.

  • @puddingpimp Best way to practise this to play scales in harmonics, start with the octave harmonics, then play the octave 5th harmonics, for example finger an A major scale in 4th position and try and play an E major scale in the harmonics. It's super important if you want to cover violin pieces for neo-classical guitar, otherwise the guitar doesn't have the range in the treble.

  • -OK?

    -Woof!

  • The guy from slipknot?! hes called mick thompson

  • @MrMichiel890 thnk someone tht likes and respects Mick Thompson

  • Your explanation on how to is so precise. Thank you for adding this golden nugget to my arsenal! Gregg Happyguitar Haynes

  • PRS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • FUCK! he forgot the guy from SLIPKNOT!

  • Zakk Wylde? I think every other note he plays is a pinch harmonic

  • started to get it in five mins thanks so much dude

  • i have tried and tried, my thumb is kinda digging in the string but still cant get it, i have watched like 10 different videos and still cant get it!! PLease help

  • Dig deep and dig hard. You'll be a little sore...

  • thats what she said

  • thx 4 the video dude!

  • Dig deep, dig hard.

  • Lol, Im havin difficulties doin harmonics using 6-4 strings, anyone has an idea how to do it?

  • really? me too. i had to toke 6 times to get it, though. lol

  • It toke me about 5 minutes to get it. My advice is like he said choke down except more than he shows , choke down so much so theres like 1mm of pick showing. i got it as soon as i did that.

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH I FINALLY UNDERSTAND

  • I am so confused, are you actually stopping the string dead in it's tracks with the thumb or merely stroking past the string with your thumb kinda like a flick? Please explain! :)

  • Wow! Really awesome guitar back of you!

  • My neighbro's are hating me.

  • i love pinch harmonics!

  • Thanks for making this. I've been trying to get it down for a few weeks now, but somehow the way you explained it made much more sense. I accidentally did one today so I am very excited to be able to do them on command :D

  • You'll wake up one morning and BANG! .....Herpes.

  • Accidently did one halfway through the video...took me sodding ages to find out how to do another.

  • death brought me here.. listen to spirit crusher xD

  • This is the only video that has helped me lol, took me like 10 seconds to get it after watching... Thanks lol all the other videos are confusing but this one is boom I got it :D

  • i cant really get the sound by pinching, so i just hang my ring finger off the back of my pick and let it touch the string.

  • Billy Gibbons from ZZ Top uses pinch harmonics really much...

  • Thumbs up if you got bored and have paused the video and are

    looking at comments

  • @bahood1 Thumbs down

  • he said little dinks. lmao

  • Thank you so much for showing this, this helped me alot and im just 13.

plzz post somemore video's like this for guitar help.

  • Was that a dog barking at 7:09?

  • OK, I spent some time in the past days trying to do an artificial harmonic, but I have just watched this video and it really helped my out.

    Thanks

  • "like this... and that's the action you want " :)) i really liked the finger demonstration

  • I watched this video and started trying. I get it like 3 out of 10 attempts and it's awesome. But I just broke my high E string. so now I have to wait 3 hours before I can go buy more strings. I play guitar all day everyday so it is gonna feel like a life time

  • Nice vid man. But I actually use a sawing motion across the strings with the pick to get that. Edge on.

  • i acdicently done artificial harmonic and i was wondering...WTF what is that?!!??!?! how i made it?!?!.........than looked this vid xD

  • thanks! I learned this stuff after watching this vid. my problem now is I cant use it during a solo. needs more practice. :D

  • im practising this every morning :D

  • dinks and plinks ahaha

  • Thanks!

  • i've been able to do pinches on my guitar for awhile now and I just got some EMG active pickups in it and all the sudden im not getting them anymore, is there something i have to do differently now

  • He looks like kipkay :D

  • These videos never explain what to do with your other hand...do you hold it above one of the fret divider things like with natural harmonics or do you press down on the fret like a regular string?

  • @Camaron47 you press down for pinch harmonics(like in the video)

  • @Camaron47"fret divider things" - that'd be a fret then.... Sorry not taking the p*ss. You don't have to fret the string at all, but if your in the middle of a riff, you just fret the string as normal for whatever note your playing, then you can do the harmonic using your pick hand on whichever note you want.

  • i am so grateful !!!!! it helped me a lot

  • excellent video I almost got it !! :)

  • Hey man this really helped! Thanks alot!

  • why do you swallow so loudly!??

  • @fuckabadger

    does it really matter?

  • you said i wont get it first try....i did actually, hahA must mean the video worked!

  • @solowingpixyacz Inappropriate

  • @solowingpixyacz You tell us...

  • @solowingpixyacz yes. if you practice artificial harmonics enough, and wake up one day, you will have wood.

    -.-

  • HMK KHEY LOL

  • This guy really sound like Mr. Mackey mkay?

  • i just cant get p.h. and a.h. on lower strings especially E and A string....any help???:/

  • @Aprosarmostoi I get in on the G and Low E&A stringXd (and with Low E tuned in D too) and can't get the higher notes.. just practise! and try to play on different places between your bridge and neck, my best place is right above the element in the bridge (EMG)

  • @0oDaantje12o0 is there any trick....???or just practice???
