  • I don't suppose you make your main site work with the iPad as I can't access it without asking to use someone else's laptop, and I hate doing that as I would a long time on just watching the nature videos clips. If you could do this then it be a big help to me.

  • Q: When do licence-payers in the UK get a chance to use this app on their iPhones?

A: the BBC News app is currently available in the UK Apple App Store. Search for BBC News to find the app

  • Q: Where is the iPhone version?

A: BBC News is available as both an iPhone and iPad app in the Apple App Store. The demonstration was done on an iPad because it is easier to show the app on the larger screened iPad

  • Q: Will I be able to access the BBC News Channel when overseas? (Yes, I am a licence fee payer)

A: The BBC News Channel is not currently available outside the UK. The BBC News iPhone and iPad apps are available in Apple App Stores outside the UK and includes Live World Service radio

  • Hi there, My name is Chris Jones and I'm the Social Media Manager for BBC Digital Comms. Thanks to everyone for your comments about the BBC News app: Below are some answers to your questions. If you have any further questions or comments please visit David's BBC Internet blog.

  • Will I be able to access the BBC News Channel when overseas? (Yes, I am a licence fee payer)

  • Thumbs Up if you played snake on this video! :D:D

(Just click on the vid and hold left for a while when the vid is playing)

  • Well Mr. Madden, you'd better make an app like this for PC laptops and Windows Mobile phones (such as the HTC HD2) as well, hadn't you? After all, I pay my licence money too.

  • That's nice and all, but how about converting all the audio and video on the standard BBC websites to H.264, instead of Flash? That'd be a better option, so mobile users of any platform can see all the content.

  • David, if you read this, I have a suggestion for the App. I've been using the US version of the App since release (I have both a US and UK iTunes account), and was happy with all the functionality except the inability to have 'favourites' of separate UK regions. Well, this has been fixed in the UK version, however, there is now an inability to distinguish between different world regions (for example 'Africa', rather than just 'World'. In the next version can we have both?

  • Something tells me he wont be getting a presenting job any time soon (god help us if he has already!).

  • Where the fuck is the iPhone version? surely that is much more important as many many more people have iPhones than the over priced iPad...? Sort it out.

  • @SouthStandSupporter I think this app is available for both the ipad and iphone mate, he just shows it on ipad because its a bigger screen to demo on

  • @SouthStandSupporter it is a universal app for iPhone and iPad, you were watching the iPad video.

  • Doesn't look any different than the BBC News App that's been kicking about for the last few months...

  • When do licence-payers in the UK get a chance to use this app on their iPhones?

  • Comment removed

  • Video streaming doesn't work in Jersey. We're part of the UK though and the news website allows it in Jersey. Will that be rectified?

  • How about an app for Symbian S60 please ?

  • This has been available outside of the UK for a long time (since before the UK launch of the iPad), so why has it only just been approved by the Trust for use in the UK now? - where people living there actually pay for the BBC to develop these apps!

  • Why mention Blackberry and Android specifically ... leaving the market leader (Symbian) in the "other" category... *rolls eyes*

  • When will this come out in the UK?

  • @HasanSIM14 Later this PM apparently

  • @nicomonkeyboy Just found it, thanks.

  • Looks very impressive. Blackberry looks so 20th Century in comparison!

  • That actually looks really good. Impressed

  • After using the iPad app the blackberry looks so sluggish.

  • not on iphone?

  • Sounding a little quiet there David
