Also a family member was in the local hospital 2 years ago, the elderly woman in the bed next to her was left to lie in her own feaces and urine for about 18 hours. And the room was left uncleaned for days at a time (longest period was 5 days, which was sorted by a family member of a fellow patient threatening the cleaning staff) Of course, the way the NHS is run makes this kind of thing too common (the staff are massively overworked in many cases) even if it is the exception, it is wrong.

I'm not even going to watch this video. Michael Moore? Are you serious? Did you even see Sicko? What a joke! I laughes most of the way through it wondering what kind of children would believe that garbage. Talk about communist propaganda! No serious person would use Michael Moore for any type of information about any issue. Even the liberals in the U.S. laughed at him when the film came out. Do yourself a favor. Get rid of this video and try something else. Surely you can do better.
You write that you did not watch the video and end with "you can do better". The video is not at all about Michael Moore but the blatant misrepresentations of Hannity. Michael barely says anything at all. Try watching before critiqing. It only makes sense.
dprjones addresses this in video # 2. (The first video in which Micheal Moore appears.) He says something along these lines "I am not addressing anything Michael Moore has to say on the issue. Nor am I endorsing any other views that he may hold." Hope that clarifies things.
I've noticed a lot of US citizens claiming that the country being unable to afford healthcare for all. How many people have been saved by the biggest military budget in the world compared to the number of people who would survive if they received ACE inhibitors every week.
In quantitative terms, compare the number of deaths on 9/11 to the number of deaths from hypertensive illness. Then compare the medical and military budgets.
That's not what HEALTH insurance is for. It's for doctor bills. That's on you. I'm so sorry you can't pay for your own ass to stay in a home. :|
I'll comment, because this post was ridiculous.
Health insurance is a business. No SMART business would do something to intentionally lose money. That's why our Government is in so much debt. They are retarded when it comes to business.
Thank you for stealing and raping the people while making us go into more debt.
I dont want to pay for peopele who live bad life styles. Like when fat asses keep on eating and get diabeties. I dont want to pay for people that dont take care of themsleves to begin with.........Having a socialist halthcare system will just promote people to live unhelahy lives because in the end they know they can always get what they need to keep themsleves healhier.
M8, you have the most unhealthy population and the most privately run healthcare system in the Western world. Don't rely on Fox soundbytes to form your arguments, honestly, they are as brittle as glass.
Are China or India a Western first world country? Nice to see you know how to read.
So again, explain how the state of pubic health in capilalist USA will get any worse than it is if it adopted a public option. You already have worse public health than the UK
Your healthcare is far worse and your taxes are rediculously high. Illegal aliens will get treatment and the quality will go down if we have universal healthcare......Money=better technology and thats fact.
'Your healthcare is far worse' - Not according to every independent source on healthcare available.
Our taxes are ridiculously high? Laughable, as a % of GDP our government spends less on healthcare than you do and it's still better, not perfect, but better.
'Money=better technology and thats fact.' - Oh wow, i suppose you think that Italy have the best transport system as they build Ferraris.
Not to mention as i stated earlier, how many people's lives have been saved as a result of your incredible military budget compared to how many would be saved if kids could get hold of affordable pred or salbutamol?
You have also betted against Great Britain and Germany on their respective stock markets during world wars, only striving to help once one party tried to get Mexico to invade you.
Learn your own shady history before you make such high and mighty statements.
But that is besides the point. The question is how many would you save now? Or are 12 shiny aircraft carriers more appealing to you than 1million clean hearts?
High and mighty? Jealous I think you are............Wont those 12 shiny jets be used to fight for our country and other countries? Dont talk like we are the only ones with shady pasts buddy!
No, not jealous in the slightest. See, i'm a doctor, i'm in the business of saving lives something modern militaries are terrible at i would rather spend the money on keeping people healthy than a needless military. No i know we all have shady pasts, i was simply pointing out yours so you'd get off your pedestal.
Question really is whether you want to spend money on keeping people healthy, or on shiny ships and rifles to murder civilians with?
Murder civilians? You are a fucking looney bastard Ill give you that. So wait you want us to not have a military so when terrorists attack us we just do nothing? Hmmm NO!
Nope not at all, I'm simply comparing the two variables. If you are willing to put 100s of billions of dollars in to a military to protect you go ahead. But if you think that box cutter wielding terrorists will kill more US civilians than heart disease, then i'm afraid you are the looney.
As for doing nothing. Well we pushed Al Qaeda in Pakistan and have destabilized a country with nukes and left Iraq open to attack from Iran once we leave. Great job lads, commendable!
Ummmm you think the terrorists in Iraq Pakistan and Afganistan weild box cutters....wow.......
Tell me what do you think will happen if terrorists get their hands on a nuke. I think that would kill more people than heart disease dont you? Moron.....
No, u fool. But the terrorists which led to the above did. We would not have invaded afghanistan and pushed al qaeda in pakistan had those 11 box cutter wielding men not hijacked a plane.
Besides even if they get their hands on A nuke, the deaths from one of those doesn't even come close to annual heart disease. You'd need 3 every year to be detonated. You really have no clue lol. I suggest you get something better than a Glenn Beck education.
LOL youre a dumbass and just talk but nothing meaningful comes out. We need to kill all terrorsists end of story. Many people would still die of heart disease PLUS if they had a nuke or ten the deaths would be added to that.....
All i can say is praises be that there are smart people making policy decisions in the country now. I'm so sorry that you have been brainwashed about the threat that a tiny minority of muslims, but hey, not much i can do now.
You may have the last word and proceed to sit o your front porch sofa.
Actually the entire Muslim religion is fucked up. Dont try to be politically correct with it, its dangerous. There are hardly any smart people making decisions right now...especially the air headed liberals such as youself. People that will kill themselves just to kill others is very dangerous and youre obviously a fucking idiot to think otherwise.
May you eternally rott in hell you disgusting Atheist bastard.
I am not conservative or a redneck. But you may ignore me. Already you have proved to be a poor judgement of character. You will ignore me and make things worse for everyone in the name of making things better. That is what communism is all about anyway.
lol..another blatantly not thought out statement...the qualification of being a grandma, is not only to have children, but for your children to have children.
It needs a new 'budget' because it is bankrupt. What happened to all the money that people where taxed to fund it? I will tell you, it was used to balance the books. All the government left are their IOUs. I deserve mu Social Security Check because I paid my social security tax, but the change they give men won't be enough to live on. That should be enough warning that the government is not good at taking care of people.
You should be scared about the social security administration, they are bankrupt! Which is to say they took the money from the American tax payers and misused it. And here is something about majorities that you need to know. Majorities are no less exposed to error and frustration than kings and dictators. That a fact is deemed true by the majority does not prove its truth. You are not moving away from a dark age, but into it. And I won't be there to light a candle.
Something is on its way, I would not call it reform. But something is on its way. And for a while, it will seem to work. By the time it begins to crack, the people responsible would not longer be, so it will be someone else's problem. Americans are borrowing from their future.
Attached to the bill they are trying to pass for this health care is a tax increase bill. They go hand in hand, and that is in every source, be it news or internet that I have read/heard.
The Premiums aren't all that's funding it.
The government is in a hole as it is, it can't count on the very few that will be using it to fund it all.
Something can not be indirectly funded by taxes. :/
And that's where you're wrong. It's the main reason it keeps getting shot down. You're making everyone pay their part for something not everyone will use.
Govt. run program will be funded by taxes. The money wont come out of nowhere to "put up shop" so to speak.
Ugh, what a silly discussions. Socialized health care works, it has proven itself in many European countries. It is not some theoretical system that needs to be debated like this, it is a system that has been in use for decades in Europe and has been shown to be effective and efficient.
Healthcare is, and should always be, a social and moral issue, not an economical / business one. Setting big ass profits as a goal in healthcare is just criminal and immoral.
@wrongwayup I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying but unfortunately you are really only talking about front line services. Healthcare would be far worse all across the world of it was not for the profit motive in pharmaceutical and medical technology innovations. Companies profit every day even in a social health system
@drewwhonumba22 Of course there is always profit involved, but when conflicts arise, like a health insurance company refusing to insure someone, it should always be solved from a social standpoint, and not a economical one. Whenever you allow big health care corporations to operate solely on business principles, without making legislation that forces them to also operate in a social manner, they will just go for where the money is, instead of going for the options that benefits people.
@drewwhonumba22 Also, it is important to note that health care corporations still operate from a profit standpoint, even in socialized health care systems like many European countries have. In other words, one does not have to exclude the other. You can have both, as long as you have proper social legislation.
@wrongwayup Yes i agree that total private provision of healthcare does not work but i think that the profit motive has advanced medicine far beyond what social healthcare has achieved. The 'fairness' of social healthcare is very clear, but i do no think any of the social healthcare systems would have been anywhere near as good without the innovations made in America. Germany has an excellent system that is virtually all private however it is law that everybody must have insurance
@drewwhonumba22 We have a similar system in The Netherlands. The system is also pretty much completely private, but legislation is in place to make sure they don't become evil... because they will if they can. In the US there was a time where not helping someone, i.e. refusing to insure them, had become a commodity. I think that was just criminal, and I really can't understand how someone could defend that.
@wrongwayup I think that is the state made it law to have insurance in the states and that it is provided by the state if people cannot afford it then the USA will have probably the best health system in the world. The problem with the USA system is a problem of equality of supply of service...totally agree that this is a major let down, however the services available are second to none.
Thanks for this. We could use all the help we can get combat this kind of negligent misinformation.
As a trivial side point, since this is explicitly targeted to a US audience you may wish to clarify that a "car park" is what we'd call a "parking lot." Not everyone here is going to know that off-hand, and it could be confusing or at least distracting (since "car park" sounds sort of like a playground for automobiles, to an American English speaker).
You need to follow it better. A government program is ran by taxes. "Premiums" is another word for it. So we all will pay for it.
No, it's always been true. People just bitch and moan and don't want to pay for the good stuff. They think it's a "right" to good health care, when it isn't.
Oh, and on your other message.
You don't need for insurance for those things. You just need a down payment. I've always used a check since I don't have insurance. Because you don't need it.
One, I don't give a damn about being a grammar cop (or getting busted) - this is the Internet. It was fun to see if you'd run with that just to cover up the 1/3 error. :D
BTW, that cuts both ways, especially since you're not filling in the blanks - it could be because of corners cut due to under-coverage, which would work against you just as well.
Oh well. Did you ever tell your parents that a 66% on your test was "almost" an A? :D
I love how you made no point what so ever. Just threw out random bs, and after telling him how to use proper english, you go on to say "you" don't have to because some how you're special.
Though, don't get me wrong. I do believe you're special. Only a retard would troll like you have and then run away like a coward laughing it up as he cries and pees himself. Oh wait, that's typical liberal for you, not retard. My bad.
Your response didn't answer my question, therefore I didn't think you were applying it to it.
I asked how many in the UK have died d/t lack of insurance and healthcare. The statistics you mentioned had nothing to do with lack of insurance or access to healthcare.
I just can't debate with you. You fail to see the entire point of what the "letter to america" series is about.
1. Hannity doesn't want socialized med.
2. Hannity shows an example (the NHS) and says that because of problems a,b,c, etc... the NHS is a failed system and thats why the USA shouldn't adpot a system like it.
3. Hannity's audience of sheep believe him.
YOU. don't see any of hannity's intellectual dishonesty.
Do us a favor, go back to watching fox news. I'm done with you.
I'm laughing yet again. (Honestly, I am.) You haven't shown anything. You really are a prime case of the Dunning-Kruger effect.
Do you seriously think I'm going to debate "how [I] cannot understand [your] initial comment"? Do you think you're important enough for me to waste time arguing, point by point, over who said what and when, and what your generally vague and grammatically faulty posts meant? Uh, no. You've shown very clearly that you aren't able to follow the thread of an argument.
The phrase "on the subject of your ignorance to my initial comment" doesn't make any sense. Much like many of your other posts, it's not coherent.
As for the proposed debate: you really are very silly. "You would have the deer-in-the-headlights look such as Thunderf00t vs. Ray Comfort", that's a strange little daydream you've chosen to share with us.
I don't feel a need to prove my intelligence online - in my experience, those who do are all just bluster and the Dunning-Kruger effect.
DPR only said that he would not take a side in the US healthcare debate, and he still hasn't done so.
i understand when you say that hes cherry picking, but to suggest that he is doing hannity style reporting is ridiculous, seeing as hannity did exactly zero research on his claims...and for your information America (not necessarily you) probably needs education on their healthcare system if the kind of crap that hannity spews is allowed to go on the air without challenge.
Haha. If you think you are cleverer than me - well, no you aren't.
Hannity quoted a headline from the Daily Mail. The Daily Mail is well-known among Brits as a comedy scaremongering rag. You shouldn't take it seriously. You can read the article - and if you've got the intelligence to read it critically, then you'll work out that it's mostly full of shit.
(Here's a hint: where does the number 4,000 come from?)
Isn't it ironic when Hannity and the like scream about 911 over and over again, but support a failed health care system that kill more americans per month than that attack on our soil?
Hannity isn't bringing up points, he's quoting headlines. And if you dig a bit deeper (which I've done), the headlines and Hannity's use of them are gross misrepresentations of the issue.
Yes, he's lying.
I investigated the headline about misdiagnosis rates - in fact I have a copy of the relevant peer-reviewed paper on my computer. Safe to say that Hannity hasn't read it, and neither have you.
But then, you aren't interested in finding anything out, you just want to slander the NHS.
The list of things we could do to reduce the cost of healthcare is endless, without going to a European type system.
Tort reform.
Medical savings plans
Medical co-ops
allowing interstate medical insurance
Here's a good one...tuition reform.
and there's more...
But they're never even discussed. As an interested party (you...me...) shouldn't these alternatives be discussed and looked into, instead of supressed? It's in our best interest.
The government run health care does not work. DPR is playing with numbers to support what he believes in. But since he is preaching to the choir, it is not really necessary. Looking after the sick comes with costs and risks. Risks that you will get sick yourself. Costs in terms of caring costs and time away from work. It is highly immoral to impose that on anyone, which is what taxation is. If people should donate their time and money, they must do so willingly.
Hannity is a neo con. I am libertarian. Our agreement is temporary and superficial. We have deep philosophical differences. Taxation need not be replaced with anything. It is stealing. No stealing is the way to go.
You do not run countries without taxes, you do not have countries. They are not necessary. They are only needed because people think they are needed. The Brits are not stupid. They have been taught to be dependent on a nanny called the state, over several generations. They must be waned like babies are waned from their mother's milk. It is better to depend on yourself, then you run your life.
Tell me, how do you feel about tax dollars being spent on defense? Or education? (Why should I have to pay so that someone else's kid gets smart?)
Then there's Medicare and Social Security and Aid to Dependent Children; I suppose you'ld like to scrap all that too.
But whatever we do, we gotta make sure the banks and the oil companies have plenty of free taxpayer money, right? I mean, where would we be without Government funded capitalism?
Capitalism is not government funded. It is driven by entrepreneurs. What you mention are instruments of welfare. I do not have objection to private welfare. After all in that case people are not parting with their money under threat of punishment. But government welfare teaches people to become helpless. Helpless people cannot be productive. There is thus no prosperity, and prosperity is the only enduring solution to poverty.
It never ever occurred to me to imply in any sense that, America is the only country on the planet that has health care right. I do not hold that view at all. To know why you got that idea, I need to know more of what is on your mind. Maybe that will bring some clarity.
I am sorry I do not know who saying countries are not necessary even remotely implies that America has health care right compared to most of the western world or otherwise.
Finally some clarification. Countries are an impediment to free exchange of goods which allows for trade. Trade dissolves suspicion between people from various cultures and promotes peace and prosperity, of which health is a component. As for the second question, I think confusion comes from not understanding what real health care right is. It is the right to keep yourself healthy. Not an obligation on others to cure you.
No I am not claiming countries do not trade with each other. But rather than trade as an instrument of foreign policy, has limits.
People get sick because they do not keep themselves healthy?
There is some truth to that, I'm afraid. Over the years an unhealthy lifestyle has gained wide foothold in America smoking issues, alcoholism, heart disease, obesity all are outcomes of lifestyle choices. Lot of diseases can be kept at bay by proper life style choices.
It is nonsense to think the government can solve your problems. You pay the price with freedom. Read Road to Serfdom by Hayek. Countries are an impediment to free exchange of goods. It is restricted to what is politically correct. There is no contradiction. Lots of things can go wrong, but the major reason for today's crisis is forcing people to pay for treating others who got sick because of poor life style choices....
...look what is being said to the alcoholic and the drug addict and the obese person that insurance is forced to cover - live an irresponsible life. We will use the money from hard working people to cure you. So now they get denied real treatment because there is no money for it when they need it. That is how you spread sickness. Very Orwellian. Spreading sickness in the name of health.
Hey you fucking bastard I have a metally disabled and obese aunt who I will say does not live an irresponsible life. I don't like dumb fucks like you putting a stereotype on a sometimes ginetic disability and saying it is the persons fault. You and I were blessed with healthy bodies and I think it is our responsibility to take care of the needy and not be an arrogant prick about it.
I suppose calling a person bastard makes up for the lack of good arguments. Why don't you burn my house while you are at it? Mentally disabled people do not have the capacity to understand what responsibility is, so how can they be irresponsible. They do live at the mercy of those that choose to care for them. But if you are born that way, it is no one's fault. Except in some cases your parents, if they could have seen it coming.
What would you do if you were bron with a ginetic diability and you family couldn't support your needs? would you live an irresponsible life that is not worth saving?
Wow, you're heartless. You would let someone die, purely because of financial matters? Right, now whose an irresponsible cunt? Oh, and unsuretimmy, I'm in the exact identical position! My aunt is both obese and mentally disabled, and we barely have the financial means to look after her.
Thankfully, with socialised healthcare, when she was in a coma for two years, it didn't bankrupt my family.
Not true. I am just not in favor of stealing from people to keep someone alive. The money spent on keeping your aunt alive is money not available for improving the health care of living working people. The government has to make a political decision. But I am sure you do not mind since this one worked in your favor. They could have been heartless to people you have never known and seen. But do you care?
That money would not have gone to somebody else, which is something our over-pond dwelling friends don't seem to understand.
If someone elses life needed to be improved, as you put it, then the doctors would have everyhing available to let themselves do that, and would only be denied if the procedure they needed, or deleyed in it, i it was an exceptional case needed unusual procedures. Otherwise, doctors have everything at their fingertips, unlike in a private system, where they only have what
To believe that you must believe that one person knows the current state of health of every single person in the country and can prioritize providing care to all of them instantly (other wise the condition will change), in a manner that satisfies everyone!! You are a fool.
Not at all! Doctors don't need it, as they have effectively almost limitless funds, with some exceptions. such as expencive tests, 'optional' procedures, and untested procedures.
The only time we prioritise is when it comes to transplants, which have always been in chronic shortage. But I digress.
In conclusion: the NHS rarely has to prioritise, and when it does, it does not do for financial reasons, but purely for lack of resources.
My goodness. Listen to your self. Limitless resources indeed!! Limited resources exist only in a fantasy world. And then you contradict yourself by saying they prioritize due to lack of resources!! And not for financial reasons!!! I have got news for you. Finance is the mechanism for managing limited resources. People can die because medicines are expensive. The reason they are expensive is because resources are limited. There is one way to ease that. Take away the patent regime on drugs.
I'm not saying our system is perfect, no system is, and a any British person will tell you, the NHS does occasionally behave like a dick, but basically everything that I saw in Moore's 'Sicko' I can, by my and the people I know's experiences, attest to.
Sorry I came accross a bit strong in my previous reply, but I had:
a) Just gone on a coughlan666 binge.
b) Put you down (mistakingly, it turns out) as another bottom-dwelling, shit-sucking republican man-bitch.
Sicko is a work of propaganda. The fact that you bought it tell me it is good propaganda. He was not comparing apples to apples. He was comparing old people and people with complicated diseases in the US with people with regular ailments in Europe.
As I said in my bringing up of it, I am not talking of Sicko's take on the US healthcare system, although it does raise a lot of points which have yet to be answered, or are in actuality undeniable fact, but again, back to the point.
What I said was, was that Sicko's representation of the NHS was as accurate as was reasonable to present in a documentary film about the US healthcare system.
Yes, and yet he left key things out. Things that are important when it comes to deciding what works in the US. Michael Moore goes out of his way to present a black and white world view that is not real. He is a sophist.
The world is not perfect my friend. Under such circumstances, you will be forced to rely on the benevolence of others. But it gives you no right to steal from others. It gives no one else the right to steal for you. And anyway people you steal from can no longer afford to be benevolent. So you have been foolish.
Your backtracking is not working you clown, as i asked you, what about the hundreds of things that can go wrong with you that are fuck all to do with your lifestyle ?
Regarding drjones, what nonsence ? Do you just like to cherrypick what you want to answer ?
The health insurance industry has your best interests at heart, eh ?
For the hundreds of things that can go wrong and you have no control over? Yes that is what you have insurance for. But you see now real health insurance can only work like accident insurance and you can only get paid to the extent covered by your policy. You cannot live in a risk free world.
I admit, I took the comparison a bit too far, but I am not way off. Even the Russian orthodox church supported Stalin. And socialism is a weaker form of communism. Bush and his cronies are not Stalin's impotent children, they are Mussolini's impotent children.
This is a perfect example of why misinformation and its' peddlers are worse than they lies they espouse. It took Hannity probably 2 minutes to fire off that handfull of lies and misinformation, yet it takes ten-fold that amount of time just to correct the record and refute this garbage. And in that time, how many idiots will just hear the moronic sensationalist headlines and run with it? How many will take the time to actually research the claims?
the various TV enhancers (whatever) like TiVo need an "add clown nose" button. you set it to recognize certain faces by pausing the TV and selecting them, then, every time that face is recognized by the TV, it tosses a clown nose on it.
maybe that'd let me laugh instead of cry while i hear Hannity spout his insane nonsense...that people believe.... sigh...
Oh wow! That's efficient! Pay the fire department for something which is not your fault, then take your chances in the legal system to get the money (which wasn't really yours to pay) back.
Brilliant! Why hasn't the rest of the modern western world thought of that?
So, an airplane crashes into your house. You pay for the ambulance, fire, police, and hospital fees yourself, then sue all the respective parties to try to get the money back.
Every time I watch one of these I hate Fox and Hannity all over again. Spouting off headlines without the context the article provides is a negligent way to try to win an argument. Sensational headlines are, and have always been, a journalistic trick to catch the reader's eye. They are not often followed by an article of the same dire tone.
TEN THOUSAND DIE IN EXPLOSION.... caused because of 4 negligent factory workers that started a small fire, then when 9996 onlookers circled the plant to watch the pretty fire, the main tanks exploded and killed all the onlookers.
BUT JESUS SAVED 4 BABIES!!!! no one cares anymore about the 10,000 others Jesus failed to save....
o wait... i was supposed to be imitating Faux News... i might not of been biased and fictional enough.
If you have no money but has to treat your daughter before she dies in 5 days, would you not swipe that card and make it happen? As the saying goes, some hospitals don't allow treatments unless they receive payments first or something like that. Or pay later, which is probably the same thing. Overtime, your debt accumulates because of continued treatments for your daughter.
What can he do now other than bankruptcy and default? Lose his home and his life.
would the problem exist if we weren't in nearly 14 trillion dollars worth of debt due to an over-extended war effort, an under-controlled credit system which was handed to ignorant senseless americans, a shitty tariff system (when a country starts losing 5% of it's GDP per year due to out-sourcing, something is wrong with the tariffs).... the list goes on.
if the American economy wasn't so deep in the shitter, i highly doubt anyone would be complaining about health care.
No one can ever afford to get ill. Illness makes you into a dependent. You can neither earn and you need others to support you. It is never ever a good idea to get ill. Trying to stay healthy is the best chance you have got. You want to trust a government that has a consistent track record with failed social programs and lying?
America, I'll state again, is a place where YOU can help YOU. That's what it was founded on.
You want a country like that where you force those to pick up the slack, there are many socialist countries out there. Pick one and go to it. It's not hard.
"America, I'll state again, is a place where YOU can help YOU. That's what it was founded on."
Entirely false. The first colonies came into American continent to settle away from Europe so that they can create their own community. Ever heard Puritans? Puritans relied heavily on community and involved themselves in everything of their society.
On the other hand, Virginian colonies founded itself as a profiteering colony, not necessary "WHAT YOU CAN HELP YOU."
Three.....THREE! LOL! This video should be posted in all the online dictionaries next to the word "Ownage"!!! LOL!

Just saying...

AtheismDirect 2 years ago
Th e most unhealthy population? LOL India,,,,China?! Dumbass.....Private healthcare is great for those you have it buddy!!!
UndercoverCracker 2 years ago
Are China or India a Western first world country? Nice to see you know how to read.
So again, explain how the state of pubic health in capilalist USA will get any worse than it is if it adopted a public option. You already have worse public health than the UK

Your healthcare is far worse and your taxes are rediculously high. Illegal aliens will get treatment and the quality will go down if we have universal healthcare......Money=better technology and thats fact.
UndercoverCracker 2 years ago
'Your healthcare is far worse' - Not according to every independent source on healthcare available.
Our taxes are ridiculously high? Laughable, as a % of GDP our government spends less on healthcare than you do and it's still better, not perfect, but better.
'Money=better technology and thats fact.' - Oh wow, i suppose you think that Italy have the best transport system as they build Ferraris.

Not to mention as i stated earlier, how many people's lives have been saved as a result of your incredible military budget compared to how many would be saved if kids could get hold of affordable pred or salbutamol?

America has saved many countries and helped countless people incluning Europe with our military!!!
UndercoverCracker 2 years ago
You have also betted against Great Britain and Germany on their respective stock markets during world wars, only striving to help once one party tried to get Mexico to invade you.
Learn your own shady history before you make such high and mighty statements.
But that is besides the point. The question is how many would you save now? Or are 12 shiny aircraft carriers more appealing to you than 1million clean hearts?
AtheismDirect 2 years ago
High and mighty? Jealous I think you are............Wont those 12 shiny jets be used to fight for our country and other countries? Dont talk like we are the only ones with shady pasts buddy!
UndercoverCracker 2 years ago
No, not jealous in the slightest. See, i'm a doctor, i'm in the business of saving lives something modern militaries are terrible at i would rather spend the money on keeping people healthy than a needless military. No i know we all have shady pasts, i was simply pointing out yours so you'd get off your pedestal.
Question really is whether you want to spend money on keeping people healthy, or on shiny ships and rifles to murder civilians with?
AtheismDirect 2 years ago
Murder civilians? You are a fucking looney bastard Ill give you that. So wait you want us to not have a military so when terrorists attack us we just do nothing? Hmmm NO!
UndercoverCracker 2 years ago
Nope not at all, I'm simply comparing the two variables. If you are willing to put 100s of billions of dollars in to a military to protect you go ahead. But if you think that box cutter wielding terrorists will kill more US civilians than heart disease, then i'm afraid you are the looney.
As for doing nothing. Well we pushed Al Qaeda in Pakistan and have destabilized a country with nukes and left Iraq open to attack from Iran once we leave. Great job lads, commendable!
AtheismDirect 2 years ago
Ummmm you think the terrorists in Iraq Pakistan and Afganistan weild box cutters....wow.......
Tell me what do you think will happen if terrorists get their hands on a nuke. I think that would kill more people than heart disease dont you? Moron.....
UndercoverCracker 2 years ago
AtheismDirect 2 years ago
LOL youre a dumbass and just talk but nothing meaningful comes out. We need to kill all terrorsists end of story. Many people would still die of heart disease PLUS if they had a nuke or ten the deaths would be added to that.....

82abhilash 2 years ago
You should be scared about the social security administration, they are bankrupt! Which is to say they took the money from the American tax payers and misused it. And here is something about majorities that you need to know. Majorities are no less exposed to error and frustration than kings and dictators. That a fact is deemed true by the majority does not prove its truth. You are not moving away from a dark age, but into it. And I won't be there to light a candle.
82abhilash 2 years ago
Something is on its way, I would not call it reform. But something is on its way. And for a while, it will seem to work. By the time it begins to crack, the people responsible would not longer be, so it will be someone else's problem. Americans are borrowing from their future.
82abhilash 2 years ago
As for your grandma? i wont lie, I wouldn't shed a tear if she was on the streets.

5b 2 years ago
Attached to the bill they are trying to pass for this health care is a tax increase bill. They go hand in hand, and that is in every source, be it news or internet that I have read/heard.
The Premiums aren't all that's funding it.
The government is in a hole as it is, it can't count on the very few that will be using it to fund it all.
5b 2 years ago
Something can not be indirectly funded by taxes. :/
And that's where you're wrong. It's the main reason it keeps getting shot down. You're making everyone pay their part for something not everyone will use.
Govt. run program will be funded by taxes. The money wont come out of nowhere to "put up shop" so to speak.
5b 2 years ago
No, it's completely accurate actually.
Premiums USUALLY come from the customer. Though insurance USUALLY also isn't ran by the government.
This insurance will be, and therefore WILL come from taxes. They have already said it will.
5b 2 years ago
Ugh, what a silly discussions. Socialized health care works, it has proven itself in many European countries. It is not some theoretical system that needs to be debated like this, it is a system that has been in use for decades in Europe and has been shown to be effective and efficient.
Healthcare is, and should always be, a social and moral issue, not an economical / business one. Setting big ass profits as a goal in healthcare is just criminal and immoral.
wrongwayup 2 years ago 32
Well said!
zeezeegabor 2 years ago
@wrongwayup I agree with the sentiment of what you are saying but unfortunately you are really only talking about front line services. Healthcare would be far worse all across the world of it was not for the profit motive in pharmaceutical and medical technology innovations. Companies profit every day even in a social health system
drewwhonumba22 10 months ago
@drewwhonumba22 Of course there is always profit involved, but when conflicts arise, like a health insurance company refusing to insure someone, it should always be solved from a social standpoint, and not a economical one. Whenever you allow big health care corporations to operate solely on business principles, without making legislation that forces them to also operate in a social manner, they will just go for where the money is, instead of going for the options that benefits people.
wrongwayup 10 months ago
@drewwhonumba22 Also, it is important to note that health care corporations still operate from a profit standpoint, even in socialized health care systems like many European countries have. In other words, one does not have to exclude the other. You can have both, as long as you have proper social legislation.
wrongwayup 10 months ago
@wrongwayup Yes i agree that total private provision of healthcare does not work but i think that the profit motive has advanced medicine far beyond what social healthcare has achieved. The 'fairness' of social healthcare is very clear, but i do no think any of the social healthcare systems would have been anywhere near as good without the innovations made in America. Germany has an excellent system that is virtually all private however it is law that everybody must have insurance
drewwhonumba22 10 months ago
@drewwhonumba22 We have a similar system in The Netherlands. The system is also pretty much completely private, but legislation is in place to make sure they don't become evil... because they will if they can. In the US there was a time where not helping someone, i.e. refusing to insure them, had become a commodity. I think that was just criminal, and I really can't understand how someone could defend that.
wrongwayup 10 months ago
@wrongwayup I think that is the state made it law to have insurance in the states and that it is provided by the state if people cannot afford it then the USA will have probably the best health system in the world. The problem with the USA system is a problem of equality of supply of service...totally agree that this is a major let down, however the services available are second to none.
drewwhonumba22 10 months ago

5b 2 years ago
LOL
One, I don't give a damn about being a grammar cop (or getting busted) - this is the Internet. It was fun to see if you'd run with that just to cover up the 1/3 error. :D
BTW, that cuts both ways, especially since you're not filling in the blanks - it could be because of corners cut due to under-coverage, which would work against you just as well.
Oh well. Did you ever tell your parents that a 66% on your test was "almost" an A? :D
G'night, I'm done with you. :D :D :D
stealthbadger 2 years ago
I love how you made no point what so ever. Just threw out random bs, and after telling him how to use proper english, you go on to say "you" don't have to because some how you're special.

stealthbadger 2 years ago
Really, so we can eliminate 1/3 of our healthcare deaths by going to a system like the NHS? Where do I sign up?

stealthbadger 2 years ago
I never said it wouldn't.
What I've been stating is you don't eve NEED insurance to get health care. But the media has completely made it seem like you do.
The "Public option" isn't an option for one. It taxes EVERYONE whether or not you use it.
The insurance it provides is sub-par compared to good insurance you can buy.
Really, all it is doing is spreading the suffering around.
And to me, that's not a good thing.

The UK does rank lower than a lot of other countries with a universal healthcare package.
Does this prove a universal healthcare package to be less beneficial to people than private pay?

1. Hannity doesn't want socialized med.
2. Hannity shows an example (the NHS) and says that because of problems a,b,c, etc... the NHS is a failed system and thats why the USA shouldn't adpot a system like it.
3. Hannity's audience of sheep believe him.

DPR only said that he would not take a side in the US healthcare debate, and he still hasn't done so.
i understand when you say that hes cherry picking, but to suggest that he is doing hannity style reporting is ridiculous, seeing as hannity did exactly zero research on his claims...and for your information America (not necessarily you) probably needs education on their healthcare system if the kind of crap that hannity spews is allowed to go on the air without challenge.
asshowl 2 years ago
(Here's a hint: where does the number 4,000 come from?)
plevyman 2 years ago
Conservatives use the NHS as an example of why we should stay away from anything resembling a national health care service.
They use false claims about the NHS to use it as an example.
They lie.
This is what DPRjones is illustrating.
Do you get it now? Or should I use smaller words? Or perhaps picture books?
Tyrtamus 2 years ago
Did you even watch and listen to the videos DPR made? That's all he did was refute.
More people die each month in this country from lack of health care than died in 911.
But hey, I guess it's better for americans to die from lack of health care than to let those "commies/socialists" win, eh?
Who's really drinking the Kool-aid asshole?
SlckJwdBtnk 2 years ago
Isn't it ironic when Hannity and the like scream about 911 over and over again, but support a failed health care system that kill more americans per month than that attack on our soil?
Hannity is patriotic my ass.
SlckJwdBtnk 2 years ago 4
"I want to know why this video is full of misinformation."
So what misinformation would that be?
plevyman 2 years ago
Hannity isn't bringing up points, he's quoting headlines. And if you dig a bit deeper (which I've done), the headlines and Hannity's use of them are gross misrepresentations of the issue.
Yes, he's lying.
I investigated the headline about misdiagnosis rates - in fact I have a copy of the relevant peer-reviewed paper on my computer. Safe to say that Hannity hasn't read it, and neither have you.
But then, you aren't interested in finding anything out, you just want to slander the NHS.

Could you explain how you run a country without taxes ?
The vast majority of British like having a NHS, are you saying they are wrong, or just plain stupid ?
Are you seriously saying dprjones has not debunked Hannity's gibbering ?
larsontic 2 years ago
You do not run countries without taxes, you do not have countries. They are not necessary. They are only needed because people think they are needed. The Brits are not stupid. They have been taught to be dependent on a nanny called the state, over several generations. They must be waned like babies are waned from their mother's milk. It is better to depend on yourself, then you run your life.
82abhilash 2 years ago
Hmmm.
I mean, where would we be without Government funded capitalism?
silentfaun 2 years ago 3
Capitalism is not government funded. It is driven by entrepreneurs. What you mention are instruments of welfare. I do not have objection to private welfare. After all in that case people are not parting with their money under threat of punishment. But government welfare teaches people to become helpless. Helpless people cannot be productive. There is thus no prosperity, and prosperity is the only enduring solution to poverty.
82abhilash 2 years ago

It never ever occurred to me to imply in any sense that, America is the only country on the planet that has health care right. I do not hold that view at all. To know why you got that idea, I need to know more of what is on your mind. Maybe that will bring some clarity.

larsontic 2 years ago
Finally some clarification. Countries are an impediment to free exchange of goods which allows for trade. Trade dissolves suspicion between people from various cultures and promotes peace and prosperity, of which health is a component. As for the second question, I think confusion comes from not understanding what real health care right is. It is the right to keep yourself healthy. Not an obligation on others to cure you.
82abhilash 2 years ago
" Finally some clarification "
I think your reading comprehension was the problem.
So you're claming countries don't trade with each other ?
So you're claiming people get sick because they don't keep themselves healthy ?
Stick to trolling that hypocritical idiot HTWW videos pal.
Oh, and btw, another question you body swerved, are you claiming dprjones never debunked that clown Hannity ? Or was the question not clear enough ?
larsontic 2 years ago
No I am not claiming countries do not trade with each other. But rather than trade as an instrument of foreign policy, has limits.
People get sick because they do not keep themselves healthy?
There is some truth to that, I'm afraid. Over the years an unhealthy lifestyle has gained wide foothold in America smoking issues, alcoholism, heart disease, obesity all are outcomes of lifestyle choices. Lot of diseases can be kept at bay by proper life style choices.

Dpr replaced, his nonsense with Hannity's nonsense, that is not progress.
82abhilash 2 years ago
Regarding Dpr, what nonsense ?
" Countries are an impediment to a free exchange of goods "
You're contradicting yourself.
Smoking and alcoholism ? Stating the obvious, well done.
" not an obligation on others to cure you "
So what about the hundreds of things that can go wrong with you that are fuck all to do with your lifestyle ?
Like that clown HTWW, your motto is, fuck you i'm alright.
" nanny state " You love the buzzwords, eh ?
larsontic 2 years ago
It is nonsense to think the government can solve your problems. You pay the price with freedom. Read Road to Serfdom by Hayek. Countries are an impediment to free exchange of goods. It is restricted to what is politically correct. There is no contradiction. Lots of things can go wrong, but the major reason for today's crisis is forcing people to pay for treating others who got sick because of poor life style choices....
82abhilash 2 years ago
...look what is being said to the alcoholic and the drug addict and the obese person that insurance is forced to cover - live an irresponsible life. We will use the money from hard working people to cure you. So now they get denied real treatment because there is no money for it when they need it. That is how you spread sickness. Very Orwellian. Spreading sickness in the name of health.
82abhilash 2 years ago
Hey you fucking bastard I have a metally disabled and obese aunt who I will say does not live an irresponsible life. I don't like dumb fucks like you putting a stereotype on a sometimes ginetic disability and saying it is the persons fault. You and I were blessed with healthy bodies and I think it is our responsibility to take care of the needy and not be an arrogant prick about it.
unsuretimmy 2 years ago
I suppose calling a person bastard makes up for the lack of good arguments. Why don't you burn my house while you are at it? Mentally disabled people do not have the capacity to understand what responsibility is, so how can they be irresponsible. They do live at the mercy of those that choose to care for them. But if you are born that way, it is no one's fault. Except in some cases your parents, if they could have seen it coming.
82abhilash 2 years ago
What would you do if you were bron with a ginetic diability and you family couldn't support your needs? would you live an irresponsible life that is not worth saving?
unsuretimmy 2 years ago
Wow, you're heartless. You would let someone die, purely because of financial matters? Right, now whose an irresponsible cunt? Oh, and unsuretimmy, I'm in the exact identical position! My aunt is both obese and mentally disabled, and we barely have the financial means to look after her.
Thankfully, with socialised healthcare, when she was in a coma for two years, it didn't bankrupt my family.
Roriniho 2 years ago
82abhilash 2 years ago
That money would not have gone to somebody else, which is something our over-pond dwelling friends don't seem to understand.
If someone elses life needed to be improved, as you put it, then the doctors would have everyhing available to let themselves do that, and would only be denied if the procedure they needed, or deleyed in it, i it was an exceptional case needed unusual procedures. Otherwise, doctors have everything at their fingertips, unlike in a private system, where they only have what
Roriniho 2 years ago
To believe that you must believe that one person knows the current state of health of every single person in the country and can prioritize providing care to all of them instantly (other wise the condition will change), in a manner that satisfies everyone!! You are a fool.
82abhilash 2 years ago
Roriniho 2 years ago
My goodness. Listen to your self. Limitless resources indeed!! Limited resources exist only in a fantasy world. And then you contradict yourself by saying they prioritize due to lack of resources!! And not for financial reasons!!! I have got news for you. Finance is the mechanism for managing limited resources. People can die because medicines are expensive. The reason they are expensive is because resources are limited. There is one way to ease that. Take away the patent regime on drugs.
82abhilash 2 years ago
(cont.) the company can afford.
Roriniho 2 years ago
Sicko is a work of propaganda. The fact that you bought it tell me it is good propaganda. He was not comparing apples to apples. He was comparing old people and people with complicated diseases in the US with people with regular ailments in Europe.
82abhilash 2 years ago
As I said in my bringing up of it, I am not talking of Sicko's take on the US healthcare system, although it does raise a lot of points which have yet to be answered, or are in actuality undeniable fact, but again, back to the point.
What I said was, was that Sicko's representation of the NHS was as accurate as was reasonable to present in a documentary film about the US healthcare system.
Roriniho 2 years ago
Yes, and yet he left key things out. Things that are important when it comes to deciding what works in the US. Michael Moore goes out of his way to present a black and white world view that is not real. He is a sophist.
82abhilash 2 years ago
The world is not perfect my friend. Under such circumstances, you will be forced to rely on the benevolence of others. But it gives you no right to steal from others. It gives no one else the right to steal for you. And anyway people you steal from can no longer afford to be benevolent. So you have been foolish.
82abhilash 2 years ago
Your backtracking is not working you clown, as i asked you, what about the hundreds of things that can go wrong with you that are fuck all to do with your lifestyle ?
Regarding drjones, what nonsence ? Do you just like to cherrypick what you want to answer ?
The health insurance industry has your best interests at heart, eh ?

What do you make of this comment by your hero ?
" The BNP policy for policy is a left wing group "
larsontic 2 years ago
For the hundreds of things that can go wrong and you have no control over? Yes that is what you have insurance for. But you see now real health insurance can only work like accident insurance and you can only get paid to the extent covered by your policy. You cannot live in a risk free world.
82abhilash 2 years ago
I admit, I took the comparison a bit too far, but I am not way off. Even the Russian orthodox church supported Stalin. And socialism is a weaker form of communism. Bush and his cronies are not Stalin's impotent children, they are Mussolini's impotent children.

How many in the UK?

This is a perfect example of why misinformation and its' peddlers are worse than they lies they espouse. It took Hannity probably 2 minutes to fire off that handfull of lies and misinformation, yet it takes ten-fold that amount of time just to correct the record and refute this garbage. And in that time, how many idiots will just hear the moronic sensationalist headlines and run with it? How many will take the time to actually research the claims?

the various TV enhancers (whatever) like TiVo need an "add clown nose" button. you set it to recognize certain faces by pausing the TV and selecting them, then, every time that face is recognized by the TV, it tosses a clown nose on it.
maybe that'd let me laugh instead of cry while i hear Hannity spout his insane nonsense...that people believe.... sigh...

Sue the electrician and make them pay for it, like I stated before.
That's how it works.
5b 2 years ago
That is such a brilliant idea!
dutchroll 2 years ago
That's how it already is, lol.
You're so far off the spot, it's like you're shooting with a non-existent gun.
You get hit by a drunk driver. You sue them and they pay for damages!
Wow, my ideas are so new and not already practiced! Oh wait, yeah they are, and they work.
5b 2 years ago

Allow me to illustrate my point.
Lose his home and his life.

and yeah, his daughter will die.

"
The government isn't the problem at all. The problem lies with the people and their apathetic, don't want to deal with their own problems, attitude.
"
Not true, the problem is not them. It is the system, of basis, which advocates for the following:
1) Unhealthy food products
2) Expensive and unnecessary health procedures
3) Profit, profit, profit
4) easy credit
5) multi-international banks
If you have a system such as this, you have people that are suffering and are in bankruptcy.
YoungSpotUBrock 2 years ago 2
would the problem exist if we weren't in nearly 14 trillion dollars worth of debt due to an over-extended war effort, an under-controlled credit system which was handed to ignorant senseless americans, a shitty tariff system (when a country starts losing 5% of it's GDP per year due to out-sourcing, something is wrong with the tariffs).... the list goes on.
if the American economy wasn't so deep in the shitter, i highly doubt anyone would be complaining about health care.
kukulza 2 years ago
Yes private care that is unaffordable for all but a select few and government care that is for the politically correct. Freedom dies.

No one can ever afford to get ill. Illness makes you into a dependent. You can neither earn and you need others to support you. It is never ever a good idea to get ill. Trying to stay healthy is the best chance you have got. You want to trust a government that has a consistent track record with failed social programs and lying?
82abhilash 2 years ago
Yes, it is about an optional health plan. They are going to remove the option to opt out of a crappy system and call it fixing.
82abhilash 2 years ago
It isn't, lol. That's why it keeps getting shot down.
And you haven't disproved anything I've said. MY arguments still stand. I'm sorry I don't feel like repeating them in every post for you.

America, I'll state again, is a place where YOU can help YOU. That's what it was founded on.
You want a country like that where you force those to pick up the slack, there are many socialist countries out there. Pick one and go to it. It's not hard.
I'll stay here where it's at least close to FREE.
5b 2 years ago
"America, I'll state again, is a place where YOU can help YOU. That's what it was founded on."
Entirely false. The first colonies came into American continent to settle away from Europe so that they can create their own community. Ever heard Puritans? Puritans relied heavily on community and involved themselves in everything of their society.
On the other hand, Virginian colonies founded itself as a profiteering colony, not necessary "WHAT YOU CAN HELP YOU."
YoungSpotUBrock 2 years ago
The first colonies? You don't know your history.
We didn't all come here and first thing we did was "lets all be America."
It doesn't matter why the individuals came here.
I said what AMERICA was founded on, not the individual colonies.
