  • i dont like this herod!

  • OMG this is freaking awesome i love this!!!

  • I laughed so hard! Very well done!

  • Te felicito. Ahora soy un fan tuyo. Es la mejor voz que he escuchado con esta canción. Y no hay pequeñas partes... It´s the best King Herod´s performance that i have seen.

  • Sounds like Robin Williams...

  • November 6. 2010, in VOLDA (Norway ) there will be a JCS show. The same show as were played in the church of Heroy ( moere and romsdal) in Norway earlier this year. There will be about 100 artists working in the show. I will be playing King Herold. Its a small part of the show, but I like it. Come and see us. ;-)

  • @mrmoreful Succes

  • goed hoor!

  • The intro music sounds like jurrasic park haha.

    Kewl performance btw

  • does anyone know if there is a cd or dvd of this performance?

  • im so glad these were staged from the movie, i am not a fan of many other productions, this is my favorite next to the original album and movie. the 2000 version to me was horrible.

  • I love this musical

  • excelent performance!

  • Hij lijkt een beetje op... Hoe heet hij nu ook alweer... ohh ja: Marc-Marie Huijbrechts met een Afro

  • it is fantastic

  • ..am I the only one who rofled when he threw his wig? xD

  • So did I. I didn't see it coming.

  • 2:48 ...but it's the PELVIC THrust that really drives you INSAyAyAyNe!!!

  • lol nice Rocky Horror joke.

  • Wait volendam...?

    are you dutch

    dan begrijp je dit wel

    heerlijk nummer!

  • I love the opening horn parts!

  • PaAAaa!!!!!!!!<33

  • A mix between Elvis and Elton John :D

  • what u mean A miz between Elvis and Elton John?

  • Well Done! Liked it.

  • I love tihs<3

  • Is it just me, or is this herod a little into elvis?

  • Wow...i have been watching this whole thing and Herod is by far the best actor in the production...not necissarily the best singer, but up there on that list too.

  • Such a rip off from the movie!!! But, since it was so funny -- I guess it's all good!

  • The only version I've seen that didn't do the same dance routine was the revised version.. lol

  • This was very similar to '73, but unique in it's own right. You should see ours!!! I especially liked the intro - parading in through the audience.

  • Geweldig dat die gast zn pruik gooit :)

  • ugh this is amazing

  • can i ask, is king herod a large part?

  • No very very small !

  • @1norrie1 but king herod is a novelty of the show..

  • Only this one song.

  • but he has the best songgg

  • @DREWSONBOI King Harod only has this one part... this one song. In most plays, the person performing the part is full of energy... this guy doesn't have much.

  • like how the gaurds start dancin!!!

  • I know I just that recently it's so funny!

  • Well, i'm a singer myself & do musicals 2 , i kinda think this one was copiied from the 73*

But my opinion , it's not bad to be honest..

  • perfect!

  • It is great! Even if with the influence of '73. I really enjoyed it!

  • beetje jammer dat het er gejat uit ziet en klinkt. alsof ze het rechtstreeks uit de film van 73 hebben gehaald. wel goed neergezet, dat dan weer wel

  • He has to be the best sounding Herod I've ever heard. He has got Mostel's voice, and Mayall's animated gestures. The perfect mix.

  • LOL when he threw his wig off.

  • The influence of the 73 version is too much and too obvious.

    But it is good.

  • Very good (but obviously staged from the movie).

  • That's right.

  • XD I love how the guards kinda boogie a little bit.

  • Me too(I thought no one else had noticed it, 'cause its so comment worthy)XD

  • Well... I can die happy. lol, this was great! The king was fantastic- i loved the bit with the wig

  • mister WONDERFUL CHRIST-A:P

  • Hmm where this version falls down:

    1. Herod's singing is too good. The portrayal should be of someone who thinks they are better than they are(we've all met them)1973 hits it about right.

    2. The supporting ast are too animated and distract from Herod's performance.

    3. Jesus is too arrogant; standing upright and unafraid, i preferred the cowed versions.

The wig bit was good though.

  • never heard someone say they sing too good lol, but i agree with your point

  • this song is sooooooooo nice but live is the best in the wirld jesud Christ Superstar is the BBBBBEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSSTTTTTTTT in the world xD xD xD xD

  • The wig was an AMAZING touch. :D

  • definately, pullin off the wig was rele funny

  • Waaw, that was fantastic! I like this song more than the song in 1973! ^^

And the king is sooo funny x']

  • The dancing was perfect in the coordination of the original

    I loved this performance

The throwing of the wig was a great touch

    He did really good =]

  • that was amazing! i love the earrings. awesome!

  • Oh that was awesome! Total homage to a great classic! LMAO he lost his wig! Frickin great!!

  • this is good :]

we are doing this show at my musical theatre group

  • wow, I really liked the 1973 version but I think this one is better. The king was much better, I especially like the switch in mood with the Are you not scared of me christ, it was a lot more powerful than either movies.

  • can someone say... Elton John? hahah great job guys and gals involved

  • This is the best version of this I've seen! The 1973 movie was okay, the album was great, and the 2000 version was horrible.

  • My dad's High School marching band did songd from this musical, and he even has a tape recording of it which I think is so cool. Thus far I'm loving this entire production. Good job!

  • Haha, he reminds me of Artie Johnson.

  • Trying to replicate the version as done in the film ranks this number a big "0" with me.

It's pretty much plagerism, to put it simply...

  • Not only do you not know how to spell plagiarism, you obviously know nothing about the word "adaptation",

  • This guy's excellent!

  • Don't know if anyone of you knows Bastian Pastewka, but at 3:25/3:26 he looks exactly like this guy.

By the way.. lil mistake at the dance scene, where gets out of rythm, but great performance. Nothing else. I am overjoyed.

  • Is it me or does he look exactly like Elton John?

  • yo mutta look like elton john when shes naked

  • In my opinion this guy is trying too hard. Otherwise not bad.

  • "so what theatre producer WOULDN'T try to make it similar to that one?"

a really honest and innovative director would not copy another one's work but create a unique version that is consistent by itself and "works" by itself. pardon my bad english, I hope you know what I mean.

  • Why change the most beautiful version there is ever made? It was the intention of the director to copy the movie, and he did a really good job, don't you think? And by the way, he also is an amateur, like the rest!!

  • @1norrie1 You are all amateurs? You are very great than!

  • isn't that the "fellowship of the ring theme" from "lord of the rings" in the beginning? ;)

  • No, this is the original music of the movie played by amateurs!!! Maybe the makers of the lord movies copied it??

  • Nice touch to grab the food from the guard - it cracked me up!

  • Man that's really good!! Awesome voice!

  • Briliant!

  • Great!

    The english is even great!

  • ROFL.

That was so much better than the 2000 version!

Not as good as the 1873, though. :P

    BUT IT WAS HILARIOUSLY AMAZING.

  • thats a very early film. I think you ment 1973!

  • No, the 1873 version with Sarah Bernhardt as Mary Magdalene, which was condemned by both Otto von Bismarck and Napoleon III.

  • thank you for great performance.

  • the dance break was the same as the movie...as well as the vocals...any good director/coreographer would get ideas from the movie, not steal from it. I like it though : )

  • i wouldn't, the guy in the 1973 version totally ruined the song for me... i hated that this guy is better than him, but still i like the soundtrack version the best

  • Well, of course it's going to be really similar to the 1973 movie...that was clearly the best, most well-known version, so what theatre producer WOULDN'T try to make it similar to that one?

  • parre is echt goed. Je ziet echt dat hij er plezier in heeft en dat is al genoeg.

  • that wig coming of at the end spoils it

  • I love that he rips off his wig at the end... that's funny.

  • he waves his arms around too much. good performance though.

  • I think everything's been said so far. Elvis. MC Hammer. The whole shebang. Pretty funny version I find still :P

  • The whole number is a rip off of the movie, Choreo to costumes....Too Bad

  • Deze ele muzikal was elegoar top!

Srry dat ik in t Volendams praat:p

  • I think it's hilarious that Herod looks like MC Hammer.

  • He's trying too hard to be like the original Herod from the original movie

  • oh man ! this is my favorite song ! haha

  • i think this guy is trying (not succeeding) to imitate the guy from the old version.

  • he sings like elvis

  • aha what. rik mayall kicks this guys ass

  • wat een talent toch in Volendam :P

  • Great stuff, this guy was hillarious!

  • where's his hair? ^^
