@kimmedavid Buckethead's emotionless body betrays his playing. Under the mask I know he's probably sweating bullets and making all the faces the rest of the guitarists do. If it didn't go entirely against his persona and what Buckethead stands for I'm sure he'd be hopping around like Angus Young.
His music is extremely emotional, I've found. You can't play with the same conviction he does without it, honestly.
If you haven't seen the ClassX videos, check them out. He's just a young pup but he plays with zero emotion. He's tearing up the songs in a cover band. The videos were filmed for the band before Buckethead existed so it takes awhile to catch his face but it's in there. They're not Buckethead videos.
He just has many, many hours and the dexterity to be able to make it look so easy.

@REAPER3295 You can probably find them somewhere online, its highly unlikely that you'll find them in any particular music store, unless it's a vintage music store, which I can never find. They were discontinued in 1996.
there's alot of people in this world that might not gain the success they deserve because they either aren't comfortable with the way they look, or they just don't look like a "star", I don't think the mask is as much as gimmick as it is a coping mechanism...he was obviously born to play or his obsession with perfection got him to this level...he should drop the mask at this point in his career, his audience won't grow to match his talent until he comes out from behind it...
His audience is growing every moment of the day. Ever since I introduced his music to my children, buckethead's persona and quality of music has spread like wildfire throughout the neighborhood. His music is what people are magnetically attracted to. His faceless persona is what inspires imagination and forces the listener to really absorb the music.
That tone is awful, but the playing is amazing... Why would he pick that amp and guitar combo? (its probably more the amp, ive heard that hearfield talons are actually good gutiars, I have never played one however. )

@partlyshady the camera is just too close to the PA thats all - theres parts of the DVD where the camera pans away and you can hear the true tone is nothing like this high end fizzy metal sound here!

You're right. I think that Buckethead is overrated because everyone takes for granted. He is real smart when it comes to music. He even knows how to sight read. Also the finger nubs are made up of strange intervals that he knew would sound right.
