Ustad means teacher or instructor in Afghanistan and its given to someone who has the knowledge to teach others. India it has a different context where Gurus and muru gets involved and they have lost the true meaning of Ustad. This is the reason why Hamahang, Khyal and Zaland are Ustads, but according to Indian Standards there are two Ustads in Afghanistan, Sarahang and Mussa Qasimi

Well, if Ustad Fateh Ali Khan of Patiala Gharana gave Naim Nazari the 'title of Ustad', then it has to be authentic. You guys have to find the 'source of entitlement'.
It is also true lot of our singers have baseless ustad title, and repetition & lack of creativity is becoming epidemic in modern Afghan music.
I mean general.I don't understand why afghans support this people. they are not creative and can not compose.They singing songs which are expired. They have to bring changes.
you are right.. naim nazery is not really an ustad.. im afghan and i know that afghans gives to fast the title of being ustad.. but naim nazery knows something about classical music..

The title USTAd is not easy to deserve it Nasrat Fateh ALi Khan was an Ustad because he was a componist and has more than 100 songs that he composed.don't tell me that Nazary composed songs too.

No good guru would ever give the title ustad to somebody....
so in my opnion naim nazary is a nice classical singer, but far away from ustad...
ustad is a priviledge, not something that should be given randomly...
