Maybe so, but the series itself lost popularity due to the fact that it deviated too far from the original babies, while others grew out of the original series. Personally, the gang have too much angst among each other (even though they're tweens) compared to their happier tot years. The Rugrats have gotten too real.
And besides, most of the love interests between the eight of them are just one-shot characters. The only one who lasted longer than any of them is Rachel, who moved.
Tommy was smiling when he asked Kimi "You mean you like me"?! Tommy actually liked that fact that Kimi had a crush on him once. I loved the ending when Kimi and Tommy look at each other in the I Love You way! Tommy should date Kimi now that Rachel broke up with him!
I hate it when they hint something in an episode and then never resolve it. They could have at least done another 'future' episode with Tommy and Kimi ending up together for real!
Nah, then he wouldn't have fallen apart at the end when Rachel dumped him big time. I think that he wasn't sad in the beginning because it wasn't an official break-up, just more of an 'on hiatus' thing. But I am sure that it didn't take him much more than a week to recover from Rachel dumping him for real.

Close as in being able to confide in each other, even when or if they fight. @TherealRNO Most older brothers are annoyed beyond belief by younger siblings and they may have a close bond with them but they definitely don't want to talk about it. Either way Chuckie is a weird kid, I think that's been well established by the show, and I'd rather attribute his behavior to him somewhat liking Kimi than the unfounded everyone else seems to have, which is that he has some sort of crush on Tommy.

@FanficfanaticSROC: As an older brother myself who can relate very well with young Charles, I can say with full effect that though siblings may fight, it's like how Tommy put it with Angelica, it's okay for the other Rugrats to be bugged by her & annoy her in return, but when someone outside of their "family" (ex: stuck-up priss Savannah) picks on them (Angelica included), then it is war, because it is okay for family & close friends to pick on each other, but outsiders can't.

@TherealRNO Perhaps I should emphasize that Chuckie is not a real person and my criticisms are of the people writing the show and not the characters in it. Would that make you feel better, since you clearly identify with him. What I have been trying to emphasize is when it came to Chuckie and Kimi's relationship the writers got lazy in this episode and made Chuckie behave more like a jealous bf than a protective older brother. He is allowed to be protective, but they made him do too much.

It's not just Tommy, for Chuckie enters over-protective big brother mode whenever it comes to Kimi's relationships, because he doesn't want Kimi to be hurt. If Kimi is hurt by Tommy, Chuckie would feel as if he's failed Kimi as a brother & would feel betrayed by Tommy to boot.

Maybe so, but the series itself lost popularity due to the fact that it deviated too far from the original babies, while others grew out of the original series. Personally, the gang have too much angst among each other (even though they're tweens) compared to their happier tot years. The Rugrats have gotten too real.
And besides, most of the love interests between the eight of them are just one-shot characters. The only one who lasted longer than any of them is Rachel, who moved.

Nah, then he wouldn't have fallen apart at the end when Rachel dumped him big time. I think that he wasn't sad in the beginning because it wasn't an official break-up, just more of an 'on hiatus' thing. But I am sure that it didn't take him much more than a week to recover from Rachel dumping him for real.
