I had luck with staying at the bottom and swinging at the tail when it came close. Usually when I was hit I just got knocked back to the wall. It might work for you.

Morshu's advice of BOMBS might work, but it requires good aim and luck.

Hmmm, may have something to do with the tip of the tail, if you have the hookshot this may be the perfect target for it. If not, i'm sure it has another weapon in mind.

All I can say is "Never give up, Trust your Instincts!" Now that that reference is over, try to lure him on the left side of the lone hole. stand in the middle of it and wait till he gets near to hit his tail. Spin Attacks help alot but have a chance of hitting the main body as well and knocking you out. Hope this helped Ruby =D.

just keep moving and keep away from the edge. if it's any help, sword spinning helps a lot.
