@taleylon11 The tempo prescribed by Mussorgsky for the first part is "Allegro alla breve. Maestoso. Con grandezza". The last part beginning bar 114 is "Meno mosso, sempre maestoso".
@cuoylyf Thank you for sharing Gerhard's deeply fine and musicianly performance with me. I find Gerhard's interpretations to be all embracing. He is a musician through and through.
My reaction every time I hear this movement is :) without fail. In my brief 19 years, I've never heard a solo piano performance of the movement and it's as beautiful as it is from a full orchestra
although the portrait of him does him no good at all (looks like he's been in prison half his life) he sure was talented though, ilove the entire record. my favourite is Promenade 2 + The Old Castle
A great performance. Its melodious coherence is evocative of the spirit of Mussorgskij`s music at its best. Thanks for the presentation. More "Pictures" of this recording would be welcome.

This piece is rather epic, and a great recording! I really want to play this piece, but at the moment it's far too hard.

This piece is just plain awesome. I'd love to play it someday, although it's definitely way, way too hard for any time in the near future.

I believe the first time I heard this (orchestrated) was in an Air Force barracks in Salina, KS. I was very impressed with its majestic grandeur.

I think this recording is just about as great as most orchestral recordings I've heard of this. Fucking awesome :)

it's much better in a HUGE orchestra in my opinion, we're playing it in our school bad.
