I always took Daffyd as a representation of how people get too caught up in the idea of how gay people people should act or dress or how certain things are perceived as 'gay', when really people are people and being gay simply determines which gender you want to sleep with.

Not all gay men are obsessed with sex either, so it's possible that Daffyd is simply frightened by the reality of gay sex because he doesn't understand what being gay really is.
