Stoned or not this is BRILLIANT, raw, powerful straight hardcore blues It could be twice as long as it is and I would still want more of it- this band is amazing
In florida in 1967 I went to prison for 2 yrs. when I got out in 1969 I moved in with a family friend and the first album I picked up at his house refried boogie and have been hooked every since It sounded much better after I smoked pot for the first time.I was just 18 yrs old. The following yr. I went to the last atlanta pop festival. thank you for the memory!
The opening groove when it gets going sounds a lot like a ZZ Top song (la grange) which came some years later. I think it was based on the same old blues tune.
I have wanted to hear this song again for about 30 years. Somewhere in multiple moves, I lost the album. I played it so much years ago that I think i wore out the vinyl. Thanks for uploading it.
We used to play this album at our psychedelic parties back in 1969. A bunch of us would 'drop' at midnight and play this alum all night long. Special memories...
I feel ... so goood...... I wanna Boogie! CH blue me away in the 60's in Seattle Wa and still blow me away.. If they are still gigging I gots to see them one more time so maybe CH ya all come down to Austin Texas and show these folks how to BOOGIE!
what a trip down memory lane this is! thanks for sharing. first ever album i bought was 'boogie with canned heat' in march 1969 as a 16th birthday present to myself. i bought 'living the blues' shortly after.happy days! i was lucky enough to see heat live at the bath festival in june 1970. they came on stage at six in the morning. great gig! sadly, Al was dead a couple of months later.
TThank you!! Our record of this was disappeared around 1971. When we tried to get a record store to order another one for us they insisted that the album COULD NOT BE SENT to the southeast! They suggested we get someone up north to buy it and mail it to us. So some things have improved since then. . .(did later have a casette with pieces, that I wore out entirely.) So good to have this in my old age. Thanks.
@russmon1204 Thanks again. Allthough to tell you the truth, Refried Boogie just got me to craving Parthenogenesis. But a little bit of hunting found me BoogieMusic which was verey satisfying even though both ones I tried left off that most delicious very muted sweet sweet little boogie that was on the end, on the album.
@grandmachristine42--"Although to tell you the truth, Refried Boogie just got me to craving Parthenognesis."------lol!---"Get a little taste and you want it all/ i said too much boogie."--woodstock boogie ---check it out
@russmon1204 This was the 1st music I looked for the 1st time I got on YouTube only 2 1/2 yrs ago. So I do appreciate it. But hey any chance of the whole album someday?
1971-McNeese State University, Lake Charles Louisiana. We were supposed to have the Grass Roots, but they decided they didn't want to play in a rodeo arena. Our gain. Before the show some on stole their Les Paul (the resonator), but it was returned in time for the show. Alan wasn't there, but we all were soundly boogied that night. They wouldn't do this song until the end of the second set, they had to get "warmed up", I'm sure glad they did. I know I did. I thank for posting it.
@Oshragul been there brother-- used to put everything on the needle arm to try to get one more play out of them bitches... churchkeys etc haha I tried putting a warper in the oven and then pressing it under a coffee table glass while it was hot to reshape...no dint work but I fucked up the coffee table take care old guy

The greatest guitar intro in history! Too bad singer Bob Hite died in his late 30s. He and Henry made this intro magical.

I just went onto Amazon and bought this album. I echo many folk's sentiments here, a real blast from a distant past. Brilliant!
