I think they put the Iowa as number one just as a tribute the the WWII ships and the men that served aboard them. There's no denying that the Iowas saw their fair share of combat, plus their service length ended up being damn near as long as the Nimitz class. Considering the accuracy, velocity, range and power of new missile technology, aren't these vessels a species on its way to extinction? Sort of new Do-dos?
I can hardly believe she can stop - at least all - incoming missiles from different angles. Its umbrella range, in case she needs to protract it - and due to the earth's curvature, would be more than 50 miles, enough range to launch missiles expecting at least three or four to hit. Right or wrong?

@straswa The protection they meant was "armor thicknesss". The reason the protection is high is because U.S carriers deploy with other warships that help defend the carrier. Its called a Carrier Strike Group.

@ThaFunkster100 neither did i till i did a bit of research and yeah they are all owned by the countries that make them but its part of a wider European arms build up and as of the planes i no that there will be the french fighter the Rafale and the JSF along with the typhoon that isnt carrier born it can be but more suited to other roles where as the JSF is pretty much made for carrier warfare theres a submarine build up aswell and more soldiers joining the Eurocorp...

There was no way for the South to win against the north simply because the north were backed by the USSR. If it weren't for the cold war, Korea would still have been one instead of two.
So in your example you're right but keep in mind that foreign intervention wouldn't have been necessary if foreigners didn't nose around in areas they shouldn't have in the first place.
