That said, why wouldn't a DJ be allowed to mix something indian with something about arabs? I mean, Led Zeppelin weren't arabs, but they incorporated arab music in their songs. And I could mention dozens of other musicians taking influences from other countries.

Secondly, Arab isn't a country... and to continue off this point, the majority of Arab speaking countries are also IN Asia, as is the majority of the Middle East. Third of all, when Punjabi MC did a mix with Jay-Z, who complained that there was an amalgamation of Punjabi hip hop and American Rap? When Arab Money first came out, who complained about the mix of Arab and American music? Having this cultural mix doesn't equal ignorance.

Although the lyrics are still somewhat orientalistic, mixing it with Punjabi music isn't. I'm probably a bit oversensitive as a member of the Punjabi diaspora, jumping to conclusions because of all the times I've had to point out that I am not an Arab and that Pakistan is not in the Middle East.

@SaimDI Don't sweat it. Funny enough the term "Middle East" isn't an appropriate one to use. The term was first coined when a British journalist was writing an article on Persia, but was not allowed to mention the country. So that said, the Middle-East ORIGINALLY did include Pakistan, Afghanistan, Iraq, Turkey, but now it is more-so just the Arab speaking countries and Iran. In saying "Middle East" that makes the assumption of England being the middle of the world. :P
