i've tried DSG and Manual before i bought my MKV GTI, it gets really boring afterwards especially long drives, i'm the kind of guy who likes to play with the gears here and there, and also, the DSG is such a high maintenance tranny, also, once you go Big Turbo on this car, it can't handle the power at 400+ torque. Some people like it, some don't, but for me personally, i don't like it. :), and I sure wish they brought the R32 here in North America with the Manual Tranny...

@jonray74 I've also tried both on the R32 and they are both great but in the end of the day manual may impress school kids but That auto DSG system is what will win races.. It's the same system in the Bugatti Veyron and can shift gears in 5/100th of a second, a human will be lucky to change gears in under 1 second..

My clutch went in my first R32 within 2 months and this happened to alot of my friends who also owned a R32.. I then switched to the DSG system and fell in love with the smoothness!

I've got a 2007 Type R right now. I absolutely love the car... test driven everything else within the class and I can't find anything I like. S3 Boring....BMW 135.... boring. And then I realised R32??? Love the sound of the engine....plus I love those recaros + DSG is awesome. I've already driven it a few years back but going for another test drive soon. I hope it's the car for me.

How do you find the engine compared to the CTR? Is the drive as exciting?

America's an awesome place. People drive bigger distances hence auto boxes make more sense there. As a brit here in the UK and as a personal preference it makes more sense to drive a manual (plus its more involving). But about the car, they do sound fantastic.

I'm a yank and have an R32 and I clearly know that this car IS an R32.
