hahaha I love when people bash the mpg of this car because 25 sounds insane to me driving in my 70 monte that sadly has a bad header. I get maybe 10 atm
@ChaseSpeer oh sorry mate lmao the comment was ment for jetz2012 his comment was::how big is the rotary, ive heard its about the size of a 4-5hp lawn mower engine....not sure about that i would guess its a little bigger right?
@GENERALSLASH1 For sure. I think a 4-5 2 stroke is only like a .1L or so.a 13b is a 1.3 which would be in the rx8 but they did make a 1L and went all the way up to 2.6 with their le mans car
@GENERALSLASH1 well hardly any have that other then the 767 le mans car. Now the 20b is a street beast. Sounds like an F1 car and has a s ton of torque for a rotary and seeing how most rx#s are light thats all you need. If you ever wanted to build a rotary go with the 20b for sure

The car is junk especially the engine. What was Mazda thinking in the look department. How mortifying, how ugly!
The rotary is junk. Save yourself grief and buy an S2000. You really have to baby this engine as it is fragile like glass or it will leave you stranded. Need to get the junk rebuilt and it will cost you. Stay away from the rotary junk.
i work on mazda cars yes they have there problems but what cars dont if all recalls an pcm reflashes done you will find they ARE reliable but of course other people will disagree but like i say i work on mazda and see what happens trust me there is alot more worse cars out there ie french cars!!!!

mazda rx8 are horrable cars..... they look great and there nice inside. but where I work we get one a day on the back of a flat deck..... p.s. did i mention i work for mazda...
Im an rx8 driver and the majority of the public dosent know that its a rotary engine so they treat it like a piston engine. I get many comments like is it a v6 or a inline 4. I stand there and just stare at them.
I knew somebody would chime in that knows what they are talking about. Richardjburke knows! Cliff Kemp is a moron and wants others to suffer as he is an idiot
Flooding is caused by lack of knowledge about the engine. The car is a good car. The only problem I have had to date is a lose wire that grounded out and messed up my fuse box cause it was not secured correctly from the factory. If people keep an eye on the oil, change oil every 3k miles or less, keep the other fluids changed and change the plugs every 10 to 15k miles and keep on top of the coils and plug wires, it will be trouble free. Also, use 10-40 and not 5-20.
I am looking into an RX8 and would like to know from any owners if they experienced any problems? when you turn the car on, do you let it warm up like everybody suggests? how much oil are you adding and when are you adding it? any problems in the winter or cold temps? just a few questions to better understanding a unique engine marvel.
@DTHPRF66 I rarely warm my engine up as long as I'm gonna be driving it to the store or somthing. but if I'm just gonna move it a few feet I let it warm up before I cut it off just to be on the safe side. no problems yet. I usually check my oil every 2 gas fill ups.
She seemed to like it alot, which i was surprised by. most other professional reviewers shunted it for having a bad feul economy for the amount of horse power, and also torque is non-existent.
only one solution that I can make is to try to install turbo or compresor, which works effectively on low RPM. But I would like to know gas consuption from people, who have done it also...
same here. clocked just over 22 mpg on the highway and no problems other than a broken seal on my left tail light. 36K miles too. and mazda is now the ONLY japanese car company who's cars are fully assembled in japan. toyotay, nissan, honda, all assembled here in america. i love the usa, but i really notice a drop in interior quality between those brands and mazda.
I average 19-22mpg, redline multiple times daily and even use the AC. Hassle free except for a sun visor and a clutch switch. 41k miles, original motor.
Over in the UK it is hassle free as they are not plauged by the engine failures that we get in America. Thanks to EPA regulations, Mazda was forced to use 5w20 oil which can not withstand the high heat of a rotary engine which leads to premature wear on the apex seals.
The rest of the world runs 5w30 which has a higher viscocity that protects the seals from the high heat.
I had the engine replaced in my RX8 and I request 5w30 whenever I get an oil change now as the first used only 5w20
Well this review, and topgear's review both said that they were FWD, but What I think they meant was that the TT had an AWD system that is essentially FWD until front-wheel slippage occurs.
The TT is FWD believe me! Of course because it's an Audi you can have it AWD, but the base models are like all standard Audis FWD. Visit Audi HP if you don't believe it.

The core of the engine is about the size of a straight 4. My guess is about 14"W, 22"H, about 24"D.

23mpg ?
how much is that in l/100km ???
Yordancho008 3 years ago
23 mpg:
100/(23*1.6/4)=10.8 l/100km
13 mpg:
100/(13*1.6/4)=19.23 l/100km
I hope you got the idea :)
