  • WHO IS THE COUGHING BASTARD?!

  • 7 people are sad that they couldn't hear this masterpiece because of their deafness. Or they are probably to stupid to understand finesse and grace

  • Beautiful music......

  • Played like this.. only in Vienna.

  • Just ... beautiful

  • god it so beautiful

  • 7 personas han de ser regetoneros de mierda

  • reminds me of 2001, a space odyssey

  • wow how do you make those rhythmically nuances....... so impossible

  • I want to marry the man who came up with this.

    Even though I'm only fourteen.

  • @DarkPhaaze Um bro, Hes dead. Long dead. Not to crush your dream but he composed this a very long time ago and has been dead for a very long time as well. But I must say that I want to as well. |:3

  • this song is AWESOME!!!!!! n inspiring

  • reminds me tom & jerry :)

  • I love this song! its one of the best classical pieces of all time!

  • not that i mind but i dont understand why every famous violinist to composer is all Jewish.

  • Does anyone know if any Indian advertisement has used this? Please?!

  • Is it just me or does the first female dancer remind anyone else of Audrey Hepburn?

  • @mbdamon1701 that's EXACTLY who i thought of when i first saw this vd. and is it just me or did the man run funny?

  • @mbdamon1701 Yeah it reminded me of Audrey Hepburn at the Embassy ball in My Fair Lady

  • @greasedslip

That was a different Waltz, known as the Embassy Waltz.

You can see it in You Tube here.

  • @mbdamon1701

    Yeah, yeah!! Roman Holiday!

  • Here you are sir, main level please.

  • I really wish I could appreciate how great this music really is:/

  • Where are the SPACESHIPS!?!?!?!?

  • This has got to be one of the worst versions

  • Amazing, divine ! I love it ! S2

  • zubin Mehta is an Indian..went to St. mary's High school in Mumbai. Im proud of him. Im proud to be an Indian

  • @srinivaskari he's one of my favorite conductors, man. i'm Chinese and i feel kinda jealous, lol. your country created so many brilliant people and he's one of them. and China is getting so fucked up by communists while your country enjoys democracy.....

  • @ethusiasm yeah..i guess a lot of Indians do not value and appreciate that they are living in a democracy and often take a lot of things for granted.....Its only when someone from a non democratic country like yours mingles and speaks with us that we realize the benefits and privelges we enjoy......

  • @srinivaskari exactly, bro. people from democratic nations are oblivious to how spoiled they really are, lol.

  • 4 european capitals on danube: Belgrade,Bratislava,Budapest and Vienna :)

  • they need to add a monkey throwing a bone into the air to the beginning of this

  • when i heard the song i felt so happy, then when i saw the ballerinas i felt like i wanted to learn ballet which is surprising beacause sinec i always to pop and rap

  • i know this from 2001 an sapce odissey, such a beatyful vals, such a beautiful film and a novel, so, cheer to the conductor, hes doin' it just rigth!

  • Zuben Mehta is a great conductor, but this particular piece is not his strength.

It does not flow smoothly as it should. It is almost disjointed; too slow and flat at points and then suddenly picks up pace. It is one of the weaker performances of Blue Danube.

I have been looking for the 'just right' performances of Blue Danube and Kaiserwaltzer. I think Karajan comes very close (he is the best conductor for Straus Waltzes).

I am not Austrian but lived in Vienna (and love it) for 7 months.

  • @LoneTree1 i actually quite adore his conducting style, sounds really resolved and powerful.

  • i love danube!!! greetings from serbia :)

  • لاEST VID IN YOUTUBE CNGRATES

  • So, so very beautiful - I have no words. When I was but a toddler my grandmother would take me to the amphitheater to listen to the orchestra at night. They would turn the lights off and play a soft melody. The sky was so clear and full of stars that it looks like there were wispy clouds, the smell of pine, and the music would flow through me. This is the level of beauty this music/video speaks of.

  • Qué maravilla de vídeo...!!!

Gracias por compartir un clásico tan memorable.

  • Zubin Mehta is an Indian, born of Parsi Zoroastrian parents but he is as Universal as the music he Performs. The soul of an artist of his stature cannot be limited to one country or heritage.

  • Comment removed

  • Awesome.

    God bless Zubin.

    Proud to be Indian.

  • @sehgalpp Why? Every author conductor can do this after all he didn't wrote this amazing, magnificent song Johann Strauss did and I am from Austrian. So what is so special about him that makes you so proud of being a Indian. I mean i m from Austrian for god's sake i m the one that supposed to be proud. He is just standing there and waving his hands. Please tell me.

  • @gininuwi35 I am sorry -- I cannot take the credit for my country for the great work of Strauss for which Austria obviously deserves all the credit.

I felt proud as an Indian for the excellent conductor Zubin is.

In India we have our own classical music & for someone from here to master the nuances of western classic deserves kudos. And that was the intention.

    Cheers.

  • This song was playing when they took me by C-section on 8-15-1946..

All of a sudden, the music weas at last CLEAR!!

OMG! I DO remember! -daqueen at hotmail

  • 4:05 just distracted me of this beautiful musical piece :/

  • @jonyolea what happens?

  • Always uplifting. Why isn't there new music like this?

  • Where is it the dancers are, though? What ballroom would that be? It's absolutely gorgeous, and I'd guess it's French, but correct me if anyone can.

  • @MintySinty I think its Versallis.

  • one of the greatest songs ever written, for sure.

  • yes...music , like dance and all the arts, is universal and it's above politics, racism and sectarianism. let's enjoy it as it was meant to be.

  • Near Perfection!! I just wish it was in HD.

  • heh, keep in mind as you watch the girls dance, they have to go through a lot of pain and practice to be able to dance on point shoes. which you have to practice on for 3 years before you're safe to go on stage and perform in them. so though the girls look free-spirited and having a great time, there's a chance they're in pain as they dance! i attempted training into point shoes, but it was too harsh for me.

  • This can't be performed any better. It's perfect.

  • This makes me wanna watch 2001: A space odyssey

  • @Lunar4 lol i know. I searched hard for this song. That space ship scene really transfixes you doesn't it? its so cool.

  • how can one delete movies in list that are no longer available?

    thanks for your help

  • hes from my school in bombay...its a school called st marys high school

  • hi buddies,this piece is great,i like to be a conductor,but i don't know how,it's the only thing that i know :

    conducting is so hard

if any of you know anything, please help me !!!

  • @bsmax4731 well u need to find the best music school in your country and goto there website and jus find the admission criteria... do u play any instrument? can you read tablature? and do you know the basic music theory?

  • My God, this kind of music scared the shit out me....

  • Great performance by zubin and the orchestra. My father Dr. Pritam Singh, while a fellow at Hartford General Hospital of Yale University Schhool of Medicine met him in Los Angeles in 1956. He always praised his skill as a conductor and an individual. My ancestor Baba Makhan Shah Lobana a great merchant of his times brought Parsees from Iran on his ships from Iran to Bombay. I do feel a special link with him for these reasons. He is excellent.

    Dr.P.S.Ajrawat

  • @khal1stan thanks for that background info. As an Indian who has appreciated Western classical music for a long time, I too feel proud of Zubin Mehta and his continued connection with and fostering of Western classical music in India, especially in his home city of Bombay/Mumbai. We might not agree with the reference to the subject in your username, but we certainly agree on Mehta's excellence!

  • This is a great performance. I'm also amazed that some of the comments are about where the conductor is from or what his religion is. Who cares, really? It's here to enjoy so just enjoy it.

  • was this part of the 2007 new year celebration?

  • 5:10 - 5:59 the sweet spot...favorite part of the song

  • @sethsakeeper my favorite is 0:00 - 10:00

  • i don't get it! why has the recording by andre rieu more than 1 million views and this recording with real musicians so little? people who listen to rieu creep me out...

  • Thanks for Posting this. Zubin is Parsee from India - refugees who came from Iran 700 years ago, but he belongs to the world. Zubin brings out the best of one of the best pieces of music ever composed and the Viennese Waltzers add that most beautiful Danube touch. Going to download and treasure this. My parents used to have an LP by an American Philharmonic, but Zubin's conducting gives it so much more feeling. Than you YouTube and 21st. Century Technology which makes it available.

  • Everytime I hear this Im reminded of beauty ,kindness ,grace ,bright sunshine and lush green fields.Something so wonderful happens to me that I feel like crying and laughing at the same time.

  • what a bullshit

  • I just always love the way the first beat of the bar is shorter or slightly rushed in viennese waltz - its just so class!

  • Danube(Дунав)...the mose beautiful river in the world...and the most blue...and it flows in Serbia...but in Serbia its green...xD...Greetings from Serbia, the song is beautiful and i like that its 10 minutes long so i dont have to revind it every 2 minutes...i give the song 11 out of 10 :)

  • Darn AOL - I cannot get this to play!

  • very up lifting this tune thaks for posting ; )

  • simply magical

  • makes me happier inside every time i listen to it, what a beautiful piece.

  • One of the most incredible pieces of music ever written. Thank you for posting this performance of this masterpiece.

  • I would like for you to take these dancers, this piece of music, and then some street dancer and a song from lets say 50 cent. I can guarantee you that if you put these two performances in front of a well educated crowd, that they will prefer this over any stupid rap song. Our new generation is forgetting these masterpieces and unique works of art, and get lost in the music of rap and metal with cursing. It really makes me die a little inside

  • @Martel211996 I agree with you, but just keep in mind that all kinds of music and performance have merit in some way or another. Don't leave your mind closed off to other kinds of music; I made that mistake when I was younger, and now I just don't share the same appreciation for modern music as many do.

  • i love thier dress and they dance...............

  • Lovely; thank you so much for posting!

  • It's schoenbroen palace!!!!

  • Very graceful :)

  • Anybody know the building featured for thirty seconds after the 3 minute mark, the red carpet, panellings, paintings, flowers and lighting make me think its the Palace of......?????

  • Just ... beautiful

  • My God... This man must be one of the best conductors of our time.

  • Oh yes! I used to see him twice monthly at Lincoln Center. Marvelous to watch from the back.

Go to and watch his eyes and smile. Longest music Director at Lincoln Center and played with the Los Angeles while younger than those he conducted. Fantastic.

  • Cuanto lamento no poder asistir, las localidades no son aptas en valor $ para todo público.-Lo amo a él y a su orquesta, bello.-Gracias

  • WOW! Awesome...Mehta is the best conductor nowadays, but what is more, he has a place amogst the best musicians in the history...What a tempi, a dynamics...incredible!!!!

    5***** hi ha favorits

  • this was in 2001: A Space Odyssey =]

(the music was, not the dancers)

  • Beautiful! And for the comment of the guy that said that Ballerinas look like dudes, you need to first know about Ballet and do some research and don't comment on something that you don't know! Only an ignorant would make a statement like yours.

Ballet is an Art Performance. Its like an enchanting dream. Ballerinas they move across stage with astonishing grace and lightness and captivate the audience by dancing on Pointe. This is PURE CLASS!! And I guess you're not a classy guy!

  • I love this piece of music. I played it when I was about 13 with the Brighton Junior Youth Orchestra and I loved playing it so much, wish I could do it again =] Proper hard getting all the repeats and everything rite.

  • i have a recording, and i love the acclelerando at the beginning, its so great by the time it reaches the fastest tempo

    The music's beautiful.

  • Me too! It looked so unreal.. lol

  • In my humble opinion, this piece is the epitome of human civilisation.

  • This is one of the best comments i've heard about this. Congratulations.

  • Hermoso vals

  • Wonderful! I like listen this waltz by Johann Strauss. Thnx for the very nice video.

  • He's actually Indian, and does not belong to Islam.

  • he is Zoroastrian Persian from India

  • @54spiritedwill54 you would think ppl listening to this masterpiece would know and even if was Muslim WGAF.

  • @54spiritedwill54 One doesn't have anything to do with the other. Lots of Indians are muslims. He belongs to nobody. He belongs only to himself and to the world. A gift to the musical masses.

  • @54spiritedwill54 He is from india and is a Parsi Zoroastrian!!

  • superb!!

  • Does anyone know what kind of dancing that is? Is it like ballroom, waltz? Please reply!

    Thanks :)

  • Ballroom dancing to a waltz, I would think.

  • Thanks!

    :)

  • The dancers are "soloists and corps de ballet of the Vienna State Opera and Volksoper."

  • I don't know anything about life in the states, but then, according to anti-rainbowcommentator-s,only Austrians (wiener blut)should be entitled to play Strauss' music. And if you wanted to stretch that opinion to its extreme, yet inevitable conclusions, nobody but Strauss himself should play Strauss' music, and that would be quite a pity.

  • Wonderful, simply wonderful.

  • Just beautiful!

I can hear it all day long and never stop..it's so relaxing!!

That's what classical music is all about.

  • What's up with people talking about politics? Just watch the video.

  • this is good i love it

  • ... classes have taxed working class Americans to death. After 20 more years of living under social "reparations" you come back and tell me(or your grandkids) how wonderful the "rainbow state" is.

  • I have never ever seen such a wonderful creation of music. The music was great and the dancers were dancing so beautifully. This is what people should call "TRUE ART".

  • Hermoso!!

  • will you racist biggoted fucking uneducated egg sucking pieces of white trailer trash give up we fifties rebels are the answer.mike scott canada.

  • you stupid fucks he is indian he is jew he is this he is that fuck that bullshit he is a human genious and that is all that matters mike scott canada.mike i love you, no shit.

  • I feel kinda guilty watching this only because it was the only song powerful enough to override a certain other song in a game about giant robots...

  • beautifull, georgeos fantastic, dreaming, nothing better.

  • ALLES WALZER!!!

  • Elegant, ever-fresh. Beautifully cadenced. Great effort by Zubin Mehta.

  • This is really elegant waltz and such a beautiful feeric dresses with this beautiful special indigo color... great conductor!!!! x

  • Lol! This is neither Versailles nor Audrey Hepburn, folks. This is Vienna.

  • thanks 4 such a video with splendid music 2 go with it immortal

  • Still the most beautifuo waltz ever. OMG, how it moves me! Makes me wanna dance every time I hear it. I believe that this is one of the few things from the "good ole days" that truly is "good"!

  • This dance is real! When animation gets this

good, it will be a sad day for mankind.

  • This is at the Versailes with Audrey Hepburn , she was a balet student at the start of her career.
