Fucking YES. Auger and Dr. Lonnie Smith are my favorites organists. And Larry Young. And Jack McDuff..And McGriff...And DeFrancesco..And, well fuck I love the fucking Hammond. GODDAMN YOU HAMMOND!!!
if new generations don't learn how to respect Brian Auger as a musician ahead of his time, They will fall down in a musically empty hole. Auger is leaving a very interesting avant-garde school. The problem today is that many people are not interested in learning whether not they want to have their 60 seconds of fame through the media.
This was incredible! I never even heard of this guy before...just found this by accident and really great song! SOLID!! Dick Hyman would be proud-amazing organ solo here -gonna check out more of this guy. I love jazz.Loved the heavy bass and bass drum--kinda reminds me of Zappa in the chord changes
incredible broad range of voice from husk to tea kettlle high. much like the granding organ's range of notes. I practiced the keys on my Yamaha but found my mental dexterity was more lacking than what my fingers did, I couldn't get the notes strait in my noggin.
Absolutely one of greatest organ solos ever, bar none. Note perfect, sublime phrasing. Mullen's guitar solo that follows is the epitome of taste and musicality. They don't make 'em like this anymore....from a day when musicians were real and played like humans, not machines. Lets not forget brilliant drummer Robbie McIntosh (RIP), whose groove was totally unique and inimitable, and the soulful Alex Ligertwood, vocalist extraordinaire. All pure magic, and this entire record is a classic.
So, that's who McIntosh was (that they were singing about on 'The Big Gin'?) I wondered why they were saying that. This is an awesome group. Even though this is before I was born, I like it very much. If only today's sorry musical talent (more like rubbish) could top this.
this is so much better than his first album!
I love it, all of it - not a single track on this album is weak

Try B. Auger + Julie Driscoll & the Trinity

I love how Brian eases the listener into polytonality - very innovative for R&B bands at the time.

It's been a long time since I heard this tune by the great Brian Auger!
A beautiful rendition; I'm sure Miles would "smile" on this!
Thanks for posting!
Peace through music; all the best...

Great album. Love the percussive edge that Brian got on the B3. Wish someone would post the album's title song - Second Wind.

Used to play this. Cool song.
The bars in South Dakota back in the early 70's couldn't dig it.
