If you really want to understand the essence of Destreza and what it's about; just remember Bruce Lee was inspired to fashion Jeet Kune Do after reading about Destreza. It is pragmatic, efficient, and follows the fundamental laws of motion. It is based on the idea that most movements follow certain distinct attack paths, and it seeks to find the most EFFICIENT way of attacking and counter attacking.
@Richelieu128 Bullshit my friend. We had awesome battlefield martial arts before we ever met the Filipinos. And as far as their concerned, who won our war with them? Which of us was completely outnumbered by the other? Check the history books.
@telondeacero So mate, if I somewhat understand what you're saying - unfortunately I'm not actually speaking Spanish - this is from a film called "1612" which is about Russia and which isn't about Spain or Destreza all that much?
If that's the case it's a pity, for one moment there I thought I had come across a Spanish fencing film...!
@AzileNef I've seen the film and it has some pretty good fighting. This scene is just some training, but there's a good deal more sword fighting, and the one at the end between the young guy and the main bad guy is really good. I wouldn't say the film is that good overall, but still, if you're a fan of sword fighting movies and historical films, I'd recommend checking it out.
