at 7:15 watch how when joe turns around to shoot nicky cowboy both of them in the front seat turn around but but when joe is shooting cowboy the driver is facing forward out of no were
Nobody walks into a private club or bar like that,the neighborhood has "eyes" everywhere.An unknown face is watched from entrance to exit. And surrounded,and stopped or followed,then stopped.The cops in NYC,hired cat-burglers,from jail (the tombs) to install 'bugs'.or the 'bug' was put on food at the store.Then carried home.Also the mob guys at this level are quite um,....uneducated with allot of stupid thrown in.Higher up,more brains.
man, I can't get enough of the Italian Mob movies. Good reviews or not, I love all of them. I saw the John Gotti movie one, LOVED IT and this one, amazingly, is even better. I'm in film production and my dream short film projects will be about organized crime mimicking the mob lifestyle. I love how they have half a dozen known movie actors and a bunch of unknowns, makes so much more authentic. If you think this movie is cheesy, you don't know good stuff. The acting, editing, story line, all good
This part if bogus. The Gambinos never retaliated against the Genovese family for plotting to kill Gotti. Or the murder of Frank DeCicco, for that matter.
Damm..I would have loved to have seen Sammy as the Boss. He would have been good because he thought like an old timer. He kept the low profile, and make good decisions, except for telling the driver to run the red light right after they killed the guy in the car...LOL..that was insane.
@Iamthelaw1526 ...Yeh but there is no way Armande Assante is going to play Gotti in two different movies. He is not that kind of actor to be type cast like that..unless of course, the price could have been right...lol.
@jvanley6911 Actually they met sometime in 1977 when Gotti just out of prison and actually before Gotti was made according to Gravano''s book Underboss although they didn't have much dealing with each other until the early 80s
The Gambino's were large and in charge. They really had control of New York. I think if Sammy was the boss the family would still be strong today. Unlike Gotti Sammy was low key and knew that the less you were seen the better.
armand assante and the guy who played sammy the bull are both real good actors and gave great performances other than those 2 alot of the same acotrs are in both so its tough for that to be true..
I wouldnt sya its terrible but Gotti was by far a superior movie hands down..it was an HBO movie which blows away any NBC movie period..no cursing no real bloody scenes which makes the movie feel less authentic
That is not true. They knew eachother long before the hit. This movie is pretty stupid though, and what's his name, playing Gotti, doesn't do a good job at all. The guy playing Sammy is pretty dead on. Back in the mid-late 90's I probably read 10-12 books on the mob, late 60's through Gotti, and after reading that many it is pretty easy to decipher what's truth, and what's BS or exaggeration. Sammy was a key part in John's success. Gene Gotti and Angie were not exactly rocket scientists.
SHOWTIME was gona make this movie with an all star cast John Cusak to play Sammy and Alec Baldwin to play John Gotti and Chazz Palmienteri for Paul.but could not afford em at that time so NBC pick it up with a cheaper cast.

@jaxl2009 Actually, they did.
But it was just Ruggiero's botched hit on Casso.
TonyBranston 10 months ago
@TonyBranston The attempted hit on Casso had nothing to do with the plot to kill Gotti or the DeCicco bombing.

The HBO movie wasn't realistic at all. Gotti & Sammy didn't know each other until it was time 2 kill Paul.

no doubt John Cusak couldnt play a mobster and no way as sammy that would have sucked and I like Cusak but not for these kind of movies
