it wasn't the Civil war, if you didn't notice (not trying to be rude) the rifleman has the form of a Civil War soldier. The man in the officer hat (cowboy hat) was irrelevant, it could have been the officer of the riflemen (like when they hit elite)

Actually, not really. Right before the Civil War was the Industrial Revolution. If not for the Industrial Revolution, we would not have watermills, windmills, factories, or even interchangeable parts (interchangeable parts is the idea that things are made of parts that can be easily replaced). World War II, on the other hand, did not 'revolutionize' anything.

There are countless things that came out of wold war and two. Both of them have shaped our present much more than you know.

@Modolie I am portuguese and even I can see that's the American Civil War. Definitely not Europe and much less any other place of the world during the 19th century. The uniforms, the guns and the "Charge!!!" with american accent gives it away.

Outdated tactics mixed with new technology specifically rifling led to a death toll that more than doubles all of our others wars combined and forced an overhaul in the way wars are fought. @TWCGroup Ok well I am not a hard core fan so I don't deserve to give my opinion. I only have Civ 3 so from my standpoint Civ V is heaven. It looks pretty I played the demo and it is nice and simple. I am definitely getting it eventually. I would suggest it but there are so many great games coming out you should think over what you like best. From me 5/5. :) (Based off of what I have watched on Youtube and played in the demo)

No. The gameplay of Civilization isn' based solely on warfare as the Total War series. Fans always suggest to cram as many features from other titles they like into their favourite game turning it into a bloated mess lacking a focus, while they don't realize it'd be potentially destructive.

For one I don't think anyone would get to the point where you're down to your capital in a civilization game; how the hell would you win? Even if a total war game, during single player how many times do you get that epic battle situation; especially if the game spans 6000 years? Running out of characters so my point is smashing two genres of good games doesn't work.

And the already faulty combat system in a lot of the civ games are where you can attack tanks with your infantry and just see them shoot the tanks and kill them. Now how would that work in real time? Actually it might work with some other technique rather than shooting bullets but how are you going to put how many people are in one unit for each unit? It's nearly impossible dude.

Civ IV is good, but not as good (or easy to Mod) as Civ III. I'll prefer the modding of Civ III - with XML encoding, but would prefer the graphics and quality of gameplay in Civ IV. I wonder if they'll make a Civ 5?

Yea, as happens so often, they took a good game and threw on too much fluff. The graphics are awesome, but there are little things which make up for them(in a bad way). There is no clear indicator as to how units are doing in battle and city displays can be a bit convuloted. There are alot more wacked-out aspects which I won't go into. After a few frustrating hours of Civ IV, I went back to the old goodness.
