i'm curious to know if you prefer the area 51 over the fulltone clyde deluxe. i rather like the idea of the perceived wider sweep on the fulltone compared to the greater amount of control offered by a fully loaded area 51. what are your thoughts on the matter?
An original 1970s 5103TDK wah will kill the area 51 and RMC. By about 100 miles. The modern ones, even nice brand named ones, still suffer muffled nastle-ness to them, they lost the claritity somewhere along the line, caps, comp resisters, and the real mcoy old inductors did the trick - even the genuine old clarostat pots were the bees knees, all put together creates X factor sweetness. ;-) This is still a nice wah though. :-)
I purchased the drop in kit for my Crybaby and it is awesome. I was amazed at the difference, the sound is amazing. No comparison, I would highly recommend it. Cheers.
Was it hard to install the drop in kit into the Crybaby case? I realize the purpose of the drop in kit is to make things as easy as possible but I am completely useless when it comes to this kind of stuff so just want to make sure it really is idiot proof! Cheers.
I just ordered the Area 51 drop in kit, today. The sound clips of this pedal are what sold me. I own a RMC 4 Picture wah as well and I belive that and the Area 51 Wah are the only Wah's on the market today that truly capture the 60's clyde/crybaby tone.
Anyone tried the Area 51 "drop in kit" per their website? I am thinking of gutting my standard Crybaby and replacing it with the drop in kit from Area 51 - any comments welcome.
i like this better than the rmc3 but the better comparison is the picture wah. I'd have to get them side by side but I think this wah has more of "it".
I still have the aqua. They are both great. Slightly different personalities. The tube-vibe has a slightly less vintage voice but it has a ton of headroom and breaks up like a good tube amp when you drive it hard. It also cuts through very well.
cool, though the reissue v-846 is nothing like the pedal jimi played. Not even close. Just about every component is completely different. Area 51 specs out their own pots and he hand-winds the inductors. The fulltones are cool too.
Sweet! Although, I'll take my Vox V-846 anyday over this! If it was good enough for Jimi, well you get the point!!! This pedal is sweet though! Check out the FullTone Wah's SCHWEET!!!

Easy to do. Follow the instructions. There is a little more skill required if you are putting in the 9 volt jack but it went fine for me. Cheers

Did you get rid of your Aquavibe after you got the tube vibe? Which works better for you?
