There is a good reason this reminds me of outlaw star, considering the books were written a good 10 years before OS.

I will have to look into this show :O looks amazing.

Uh, don't. The light novels and manga are worth a look, but the anime was made on zero budget, and has a terrible framerate and off model issues.

Seriously, for the first 4 episodes, part of the opening animation was "under construction"...

I'm sorry, I got a bit mixed up. Lost Universe isn't a light novel series, only an anime and manga. Neither continuity is tied into Slayers in any way; they're just by the same author (think Ranma 1/2 and InuYasha - they share themes, but not universes).

The manga's decent. The anime is... not.

Actually, I read somewhere that Lost Universe takes place in a

a different world briefly explained by Lina in Slayers NEXT.

@Kanuskiz The universe in Slayers is divided into four dimensions, each with their own Mazoku and Shinzoku. Slayers is one and is ruled by Shabranigdu, LU is another and is ruled by Duradigdu.
