  • My understanding is that Woodstock barely happened. No bands were signing up, until Creedence did. Once they did, other bands figured it was going to happen, and signed up. John Fogerty thought his band's performances were sub-par, so did not want them on the movie and records. Their equipment was rained on, and he was also pissed that Grateful Dead went way over their designated time limit.

  • Just thinking about the people who were mysteriously awake in the middle of the night and saw CCR at Woodstock makes me fly high *_____*

  • CCR was one of the best at Woodstock, You could feel the whole crowd Chooglin!

  • Hey jmweed. Would LOVE to hear that bootleg set. First album I ever bought was CCR/CCR. Wore it out decades ago, but still have it.

  • CCR DID PLAY AT WOODSTOCK YOU IDIOTS!!!! I HAVE A BOOTLEG OF THEIR SET! They played at 3:00 in the morning, which pissed John Fogerty off, so he refused to sign off on the record or film!!!!!!!

  • Yossarian lives !

  • Im pretty sure they played really late when everyone had passed out, as some band went on for aaages, taking ccr's time.

  • AWESOME SONG,BUT CCR NEVER EVER PLAYED AT WOODSTOCK YOU'RE FULL OF ABSOLUTE SHIT!!!!

  • @JerecDarkheart CCR WERE THE FIRST BAND TO SIGN UP FOR WOODSTOCK ( FOR $ 10,000 ) and they start play around 3.00 am in the morning ......they actually play 11 songs from "born on the bayou" to " suzie Q" .......they were not included in the

"WOODSTACK" film per John Fogerty request.......I WAS THERE....

  • @JerecDarkheart

They ABSOLUTELY DID play at Woodstock. Anyone who doesn't know this has shit for brains.

  • @JerecDarkheart you are so wrong ,ccr's managment were so tight and into ripping them off thry would not pay to have them included in the film, pity !

  • @JerecDarkheart obviously you dont own the bluray 40th anniversary of woodstock it has ccr on there you dumbass,

  • Amazing bass line.... Great song!

  • Best version of this song I've ever heard... shame about the sound quality... anyone know a better version?

  • @georules0005

Nobody cares!!!!!!!!!!!!! C'est de la bonne musique!!

  • @georules0005

you smell a dirty stinky dinky...oh suzie q...dinky doo

  • Oh yeah, bro, take e back to the corn field and the misty fragrance of music invented...for the ages

  • CCR les meilleurs ,rien a voir avec les nuls d'aujourd'hui

  • I heard a version of this song on the radio in the 90's it was about 13 minates long becuse thats how long it took to get from my moms to my house. it totally rocked.the lead guitar in it was just blistering.Id love to find out where that was recorded.I was amazed.I had always kinda liked ccr and thought they were loaded with talent. but that was some of the hottest guitar i ever heard.I knew fogerty was good but i dint know he was that good!

  • @smithdsmit You can hear the short version in radio usually. The original version is 8.37 min. long (probably you've heard this one). The short version doesn't contain that beautiful guitarpart!!! This is my problem with the radio version! :)

  • That moment in time when rock-n-roll conquered all and the world was perhaps a better place--Viet Nam war and all.

  • Rock 'N Roll at its best. Still gives me goose bumps..

  • @madebibo Especially when I'm listening to "Wrote a Song for Everyone" and thinking about things that happened before or what I wish happen, for some reason this gives me goose bumps...

  • this is an example of how hard it was to play live back then..modern tech can make anybody a star,, even live music...

  • Creedence Clearwater Revival - Best American Rock and Roll Band of All Time.

  • @enterscope Well I love them, but KISS is the best!

  • this version is so awesome, that base from around 5:30...

  • real music that doesn't make my ears bleed, thank god.

  • I can't believe the 11 people who decided not to listen to awesome music but, OH no they decide to listen to Lady GaGa, Katy Perry, and worst of all Justin Bieber. Thumbs up for good music..... CCR, Beatles, Rolling Stones, Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, etc.

  • @georules0005 It seems like were coming to a Lady Gay Gay Era. FUCK THAT! we need to stick with our classic rock!

  • @tyler420818 your damn strait we do fuck todays "music" if you could even call it that

  • @georules0005 What's even worse is that you mention those names on a CCR video...like seriously? Do you not have any respect at all?

  • @georules0005 all the best for you i think as u!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @georules0005 Dis all you like about Bieber, hell I hate the music too,but he has done a LOT for charity with his fame and for that i respect him.

  • this song puts the Groove in GROOOOOVY mann!

  • @Peabody182 best rythm section in rock AND roll

  • If not for the cymbals being so loud this would be a really great version....that and the god awful bass solo.

  • @Black5heep62 Dude, I was just going to say...that bass solo was not...good.

  • @Black5heep62 sooooo...you r the one who hits the dislike button on jimi hendrix.....get baaaaaaaak koooook

  • Hey there Susie Q, and whoever came to school in Selkirk. MB. back in the day!!!Remember me..my name is Selena Joy Whiteway and I am 34 years old! If not for one then for all!!!Love Always:(

  • awesome, i think a lot of the young bands of today should be made to listen to, creedence clearwater revival, booker t and the mgs, and free... less is more.

  • Did the rainbow mean anything back then?

  • @Chrometourm only that is was psycodelic, there were a lot of illustrations, on songs and pictures about the rainbow and it was either spinning or extremelly brilliant....meaning it was part of the LSD experience. If you had any of those experiences rainbows were a big part of it....that is what I remember from that..

  • este es el mejor tema .

  • Ohh .. John fogerty looks on that picture a little bit like Micheal angelo batio .. crazy .. ô.Ô

  • this songs nothing to do with suzi quatro right?

  • I regret every day that I wasn't born then - at the time of the best music ever. I am sad because today's music is so commercial and poor. So I would like to smoke some joint with peoples that respect those times in the name of peace and love. love you all.

  • @OrgasmicKittie nothing to regret kittie; just enjoy it all now, best as ya can...their music was then, & still is now, some of the best "good ole' rock-n-roll that was ever made, good beats, groovin, music to rock out to, mellow out with or just hang out with good friends... njoy it while ya can, cause, as the Grateful Dead sang: ...what a long strange trip it's been..." ! - n-joy it!

  • @OrgasmicKittie just wundrin', are you into the Grateful Dead at all........?

  • wow they suck

  • BRUTAL

  • this was my girlfriends tune back in 1958..Carol Conkilin

  • groovy

  • Love it!!!!

  • hey now can we just appreciate both bands...everyone whose comparing has missed the point of music completely

  • why has Fogerty suppressed these performances?

  • @psyops71 If you check Fogerty out, he has always been a one man band, since the begingging. All the songs were written by him, and he also wrote out each part, for each band member to play. The drums, bass, everything was at his command. He considered the other members of CCR as studio musicians, and not much else. a real control freak.

  • @216trixie Yeah... but if you know how to make something sound "right".....why let anyone fuck it up... check out EVERY great musician... coincidentally ALLLLLLL of them are or were control freaks.... so should we say control freaks are bad... if it werent for control freaks we wouldnt have fucking awesome music... it would all just be mediocre again....

  • @216trixie Yeah... but if you know how to make something sound "right".....why let anyone fuck it up... check out EVERY great musician... coincidentally ALLLLLLL of them are or were control freaks.... so should we say control freaks are bad... if it werent for control freaks we wouldnt have fucking awesome music... it would all just be mediocre again.... i do NOT pick the side of mediocrity....

  • @gilligan80 because,,,,,,,a control freak/talented musician can hire people to play, instead of stringing them along, as session players that toured. I do NOT pick mediocrity either, and it's fine for creative people to be control freaks. And I never said being a control freak was bad. I just pointed out that Fogerty, is a self-admitted control freak.

  • This was my favourite whan I was young. Beautiful days, never come back. Thank you for posting.

  • einfach geil ! ! !

  • are you sure its Woodstock?

  • Wow! I was only 12 years old when woodstock was in!!

  • @LYNXVAL

wow i was only not alive.

    -__-

  • @DJScallywag

and my mother was born in 1971 hahaha

  • @ELMAKIRETURNS oh your the bieber generation

  • @MrLemmy2000

    NOOOO!!!!

  • @ELMAKIRETURNS Denial. Tough thing.

  • @luigikicksass

i hate that faggot named bieber (sorry by my poor english)

  • puta q pariu!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Terrible recording. They could probably barely hear themselves.

  • Donna Hall (gave me this name at Belkin house July 3rd)

  • love the bass line here ,it's running wild in my head...

  • This version has more swagger and a mischiveous feel than the Rolling Stones

  • wheres the video?

  • caralho q musica em HAUHAUAH

  • stu cook plays fantastic!

  • whats that solo in 1:50 kbass or guitar?

  • @theringostarr96 It? Fogertys guitar first and than Stu cook wamping on his bassguitar !!

  • @theringostarr96 guitar ,not bass

  • led zeppelin playing this at texas pop festival beats this anyday.

  • This is way too fast!!! Don't believe me? Then go to Amazon MP3 and listen to the sample.

  • CCR rock, and Fogertys voice is AMAZINGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG

  • but wheres the video

  • @w9x7cv3vg6 Probably doesn't exist. Creedence was filmed, but John ordered most footage to be destroyed, but a lot of it wasn't (See: Woodstock 40th Anniversary DVD Collectors Edition Bonus Disc)

  • @ifhgsfj i havethe whole set m8... havent seen it around for a while but it is there!

  • Only because of Stu i bought myself a P-Bass (because he had two of 'em). Now I'm gonna learn all the CCR-Stuff. Gotta friend who's playin' E-Guitar, Sax and Hammond Organ (so we can play "Pendulum" too) :D Muhahahahahahah!!!

  • RIP Dale Hawkins

  • CCR is the reason I love the tremolo effect for guitar so much. And I agree with anyone who said Stu is totally rockin in this recording.

  • what a basss!

  • stu cook!!

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa 3!!!!!!!

    artpolo1990

    ¬¬

  • ccr blows rolling stones out da water

  • yeah man, fogerty over jagger any day lol

  • Thats just ridiculous! You can`t possibly compare the two because they both loved the blues and played it all the time. They both came out of that golden age of when rock was rock. My Dad can beat up your Dad!!! lol

  • CCR blows Clapton and Hendrix out of the water in terms of ethos. CCR puts you in a narcotic trance unlike the top 40 commercial radio stuff.

  • They gave enough time to each song for the drugs to soak in.

  • i dont know about blowin them out of the water there both equal its just what your in the mood for but yes it is very hypnotizing

  • @Entropy56 yep your right, but clapton had a great PR man, otherwise he was just ok.. ! but jimi!?! how can u say that, 69 hendrix or more, possible yes, washed up, no new fresh ideas, more drugs.. but pre 69 hendrix.. is fuckin god like! creedence didnt care man! they said u can keep it all..

  • @KaitlynBiteworm NO both bands are great...and one of my favourits

  • @KaitlynBiteworm no both bands are fantastic

  • @KaitlynBiteworm

    lol....good one, dumb but funny

  • @KaitlynBiteworm You are correct. Not even close...

  • @KaitlynBiteworm amen, they sure do

  • @KaitlynBiteworm tap the brakes a little on that comment.

  • @KaitlynBiteworm

Yeah! As far as I know, this is the only live recording with Creedence actually jamming on stage. John Fogerty refused to jam and play encores around 1970. What a shame. I mean, the bass solo ain't that good, but it's Stu Cook playing bass solo. Fantastic!

  • @crosspee Are you serious? The bass playing is insane in this song!

  • Postit (Mira S.)

  • I prefer Side 2, and Ill post it

  • ccr PUT 60'S IN THE GRID

  • are they CCR or rolling stones??

  • The CCR version is fantastic, but the Rolling Stones version is genious! :)

  • Prefer CCR's version myself.

  • @TheBlackWhirlwind this is CCR........lol

  • @shaikhymx

Yeah I know it is CCR's version. I either intended it as a reply to someone but posted it as a comment, or just felt that I needed to assert my opinion between the version. It's been a year so I forget!

  • @TheBlackWhirlwind ...sorry! I did not read the whole feed......take care!

  • why does it say rolling stones in description box, eh?

  • Idk...

    To get more views? lol

  • i love stu cooks bass work sounds great

  • great performance, but after Feb 1971 without

Tom F. so this definitely not woodstock

  • this IS Woodstock, Tom's just not audible because of technical problems.

  • This guys voice is so perfect for this song...CCR is the best!

  • CCR made the best version ever!

    Creedence for ever!

  • The Rollings Stones never were at Woodstock.

  • So? Rolling Stones never were at Woodstock, but this song is from CREEDENCE CLEARWATER REVIVAL. The Rolling Stones made a version of this song, but it's original from CCR man!

  • the original song is written by a rockabilly-singer in the 50's, named Dale Hawkins.

  • Please correct me if I'm wrong, but although Dale Hawkins did indeed write this song, wasn't it his guitarist, then-teenaged James Burton, who came up with the signature lick?

  • I don't know, sorry...

  • Go Cat go!

  • it is not a ccr original song

    you now nothing

    lirics by Hawkins/Lewis/Broadwater

johny rivers and big O put susie Q on the map, later rolling and then later CCR

  • If you're going to criticize someone for not knowing something, make sure you know how to spell all the words you're going to use and spellcheck before you post your response.

Or, just correct somebody and don't tell them they know nothing because they didn't know something you did.

BTW you omitted Stones from Rolling Stones and forgot to mention Velvet Underground.

Oh, Lewis and Broadwater didn't write it, they just got writing credit, but Hawkins wrote it with James Burton.

  • I said

they put it on the map

all our generations needs is that

  • Who cares! It's all about the music man
