This is one of her best recordings. Like Callas, Olivero is sublime in the marriage of music and text. "Oh, per pietà, lasciatemi passare, ve ne supplico! Voglio, voglio passare!" is heartbreaking. A unique artist. Thank you for the clip.

Olivero is mentioned w/ admiration by other singers in "The Last
Prima Donnas" by Rasponi. I have a copy of this complete
performance on CDs from "The Opera Lovers" site.
Her birthdate has been somewhat murky, but it appears that
she turned 100 last year. So far as I know, she is still with
us. A great artist.

Olivero also made a very beautiful 78 of this (a Mary Garden specialty) in the late 1940s.
