  • The Cetra 78 may be slightly more alive but this is special too. Mary garden provides a wonderful and interesting contrast (on Youtube) - both Garden and Olivero of course respect and know the music. Excellent

  • Olivero is mentioned w/ admiration by other singers in "The Last

Prima Donnas" by Rasponi. I have a copy of this complete

performance on CDs from "The Opera Lovers" site.

Her birthdate has been somewhat murky, but it appears that

she turned 100 last year. So far as I know, she is still with

    us. A great artist.

    Thanks for the dramatic post.

  • Bellissimo.

  • Olivero also made a very beautiful 78 of this (a Mary Garden specialty) in the late 1940s.

  • @AulicExclusiva which I mention above. Excellent comment.

  • Ancora una volta, non ci sono parole...

  • This is one of her best recordings. Like Callas, Olivero is sublime in the marriage of music and text. "Oh, per pietà, lasciatemi passare, ve ne supplico! Voglio, voglio passare!" is heartbreaking. A unique artist. Thank you for the clip.
