Whoa, freaky music -- somewhat of a mix between Romanticism and Impressionism, with a twinge of a serialistic tone. This is amazing...
I've never seen this anime, this video was shared by a friend. But it's really blowing my mind -- this is very unique, and evocative! It gives me goosebumps.
@ZachEatonMusic If you like avant garde stuff, then I recommend you to watch the series. Though the first season is childish, during the second season there is a 180 degree turn and the show transforms into a master piece. But the first season is a must-see to understand the second part in its totality. There is also a movie to that serves as a finale to the series called The End of Evangelion.
@BunnaySango I agree. Furthermore, she's *Rei*. She's less social than a hermit, and nearly emotionless. Honestly, its entirely like that she had no idea that what she was saying could be construed as hurtful.
@Kari166 As I said, nearly. It is pretty rare to see a genuinely emotionless character in anime; saying that is pretty much synonymous with emotionally repressed. It's hard to think that some people genuinely do see her as emotionless; even leaving Rebuild aside, her smile after Ramiel, and her sacrifice against Armisael... no, not emotionless. Not by any means.
anybody else find this high-definition photo at least a tad-bit creepy? at least if you stare at it long enough in a dark room with nobody around with this music
@NoobSnoopy In the anime there's a scene where the screen flickers a bit to black n white and you can actually see Yui. Her ego mentions that is her true self that Gendo kept trying to get back.
Naoko was glad Yui died so she could bang Gendo. However, Yui still kinda lives trough Rei.All Rei clones still do Yui's bidding, even if they don't realize it themselves. So when Rei found out about it, she mindraped Naoko into killing herself.
Yet another reason why i believe Yui Ikari is the most evil character ever. You can't even understand what she wants, but oppose her in any way and you die.
@EpoBot Yui wasn't really responsible for the events of NGE. Technically, none of the characters were (there's WAY too much about the angel's origins and such to discuss it here, and I don't want to spoil that). If anything, I'd say Gendou was the most morally questionable of them, because he utilised his own son as a tool, ignorant or uncaring of the terrible damage he was doing to his son.
@IAmThey0 I think Yui is kind of responsible. She started the Evangelion project by purposely killing herself for the sake of her son/the world. I don't think Gendo understood why she died but only how. He started Project E so he could bring Yui back through Human Instrumentality. He made the clones of Rei to preserve Yui and to control Lilith to fulfill his own willings. Human instrumentality f**ked up when Rei decided for herself to start Instrumentality (was probably influenced by Kaworu).
but hey wtf... in the series does child rei really dies???? or she survives? or after all that mess gendo makes another rei ??? hahahah that was the only thing I didn't understood... those anyone have a theory of what happened to rei?
@kurikuraconkuritas There are clones of Rei, I guess the memory is input into them when they are remade, But Ritsuko destroyed all of the clones in one episode.
Yes yes, she was a little child, she might not have meant harm... But
1) She wasn't only just an insult, she was fighting with Gendo's affection, which both of the Akagi girls were desperate for. (wait, he has emotions?!)
2) It could've just have been a passionate outburst, not deliberate, which explains her suicide. Its like saying its Shinji's fault for beserker mode, or...
3) The way Rei I speaks is high-octane-nightmare creeeeeeeeeeepy. I probaby would've strangled 'Satan's spawn' too. 0_0
All we saw of Rei I was a few seconds of her as a 5 year old little child. You can't really judge someone based on that. Also, Rei III re-acquired the emotions Rei II had gained when she turned on Gendo.
@BunnaySango though oddly, to me at least, there was something different about her at that scene, like she REALLY was saying that to her for a reason, but thats my speculation, like how she strangely smiles while saying it
@LeifTheChosen I also prefer No. II, they all had slightly different personalities. As one of them (no II?) said it in ep 25: They're only all 'Rei Ayanami' because the others call them that. No II was a sweet and determined little person undernearth her icy veil and remained loyal to Gendo untill the end(she sees a flash of him just before her death, a brief apparition of her picks up his glasses in EoE), it's even more obvious in rebuild where Shinji fully defrosts her and she tried to
@LeifTheChosen get them to reconcile. No IIIs Mindscape and intentions are fully explained in ep 25. She's more like a zombie raging at the magician who brought her back,(and even that only shows faintly and sporadically) with some little echo of no II's feelings lingering there. She wasn't 'back to basic', she was a different person - one that doesn't fear her inhuman aspects anymore because she doesn't care if her existance as 'Rei Ayanami' ceases... EoE summed it up with the words "I'm home"
@LeifTheChosen About no I, I wouldn't call her arrogant or rude... I got the impression that she honestly thought that 'old hag' was something like Naoko's name.
I would mind having Rei around. She scares everyone I know personally, but she seems very interesting. I need to know about her. This music is fitting for someone like her.
