  • If it tastes acidity you can also add some milk, this will nutrilize the flavour.

  • Hi there, this recipe looks great! Could you tell me how to make it in a slow cooker? Thanks! :)

  • @batsy007 Just saute all the veggies and turkey, then place everything in the slow cooker until you are ready to eat. Enjoy!

  • Looks like a great sauce. Personally, I'd never fry a meatball first (in regard to a comment here). I make golf ball sized meatballs and simply cook them in a single layer in the spaghetti sauce, Don't stir, just let them be. Wonderful meatballs that are tender and velvety, not hard lumps like so many people screw up meatballs....awesome!

  • THANKS FOR TUBIN' IN!

  • I fy my meatballs , remove fat, add burgundy wine and delicious!

  • @padude64 Sounds good!

  • @ChefTips Found a popular recipe on Food.com for spaghetti sauce that used red wine. Since I don't really drink red wine I didn't have any handy so I googled a spaghetti sauce with dry sherry to see if anyone made spaghetti with sherry--and found yours. So quick/easy! I caramelized the onions in a separate pan beforehand for more sweetness and added a tsp of Worcestershire sauce, 2 stalks diced green onion and chopped up some mushrooms to add a little something. Thanks for posting!

  • @ChimeraFunding Sounds good! Thanks for the feedback and suggestions! Cheers, Jason

  • I throw a carrot and a stick of celery into the crock pot as well.

  • Use burgandy wine instead of water in your pasta sauce! Water waters it down where the wine makes a great flavor once it is cooked down

  • crock pot. Sorry!

  • @padude64

    Oh, ha ha!

If you want to make this sauce in a slow cooker, you should cook the onion/meat mixture in a pan first. Then add everything to the slow cooker.

  • @ChefTips I do and i caramelize it as well.

  • @ChefTips I do that first

  • I use a rock pot at times as well for my sauce. Is that good?

  • @padude64

    What is rock pot?

  • Your recipe sonds so good!

  • @padude64

    Thanks!

  • I use beef, pork and veal and I will stick to it!

  • @padude64

    You have that right.

  • Hello, all of you who like Japanese cooking.

I want to export professional standard real ramen to the foreign country from Japan. I have some ideas. This is an original idea.

The foreigner who was interested in my comment, please comment on my page. I am waiting for you who are interested in cooking and trade.

  • After I finished culinary school i gotten so use to using my finger tool when i cut veggies to add to my homemade spaghetti sauce. I prefer sausage or pork chops instead of ground beef. I like the 24 hour spaghetti sauce.. It's better than sex.. hahaha i wouldn't know personally but that's what i've been told : )

  • I love the bg music

  • I love itiallian food when ener I made my sauce I came to find out that tomato paste was always too strong so I had to add cans of water to it,,,but then I stopped using it,,,I do use alot of spices,,no its not hott ,,,, but this recipe does look instresting,,,

  • It's 9 pm, and my parents just finished making dinner, but now I want spaghetti soo much T^T, can't wait to try this! thank

  • I love all ur videos, Chef. You did great cooking. Yummy yummmy. !!

  • @cocinelle99 Thanks!

  • @ChefTips is there any advantage or disadvantage to letting this simmer for about 3 hours and adding a little more red wine about 2 hours into the cooking?

  • @cerebralfish1 Just make sure your heat is very low so the bottom doesn't burn. You'll have to stir it occasionally. A little more red wine won't hurt. :)

  • Hey Jason, when using red wine to add to any spaghetti sauce, is it recommended to use a red wine that you would typically drink with a meal, or would you use a wine that is solely used for cooking purposes?

  • @thomaslh83 I use what I'm drinking. :)

  • How do you keep the sauce from being runny? I couldn't tell from your video. My recipe is similar but I always end up with runny watery sauce at the bottom of the pasta.

  • @heronblackmane

Hello. Try cooking your sauce on low for a bit longer. This way it will reduce and thicken. Careful not to burn it. Stir it often. Let us know if this helps.

    Cheers!

  • @heronblackmane

after bolling the pasta stain it and fry the pasta on low heat on low heat for a min or so until it is dry b4 adding the sauce

  • Well... because I see you really like tomato sause... I want to introduce you a greek plate... You take 5 tomatos you cook them in slow heat the same way you cook it when you prepare it for sause and when she has lost her water? then you take three eggs you prepare them as you want to make an omelet and you mix them. The mix is still on the fire ad after one minute you put some big peaces of white cheese (in greece we name it feta). You can mix and some bacon and you eat it as an omelate

  • @MrElolita That sounds really delicious! Thanks for sharing your recipe! Jason

  • great vid!! great sauce!! good one boss!!

  • @dustindef Thanks! Jason

  • Smiley.....

  • What could we substitute for the sherry wine?

  • @SheeeriBerry Just leave it out...

  • i usually cook the beef with the onion and garlic instead of using oil etc

  • Hey chef, do you have a video on Garlic Bread?...Spaghetti was delicious by the way :-)

  • @wizefu Thanks! Yes, I do have a recipe for garlic bread — just need to make the video. I'll try to get that up this summer. Thanks!

  • oooh wow what a fantastic spaghetti dish!!!!!!!! ^^

  • @Arazumi Thanks!

  • Thanks for the recipe! We mixed some sprouts grown by ourselves in the spaghetti and it tastes great!

  • @ptyk Yum! Sounds good. Thanks for commenting!

  • Dank.

  • Is it possible to substitute scherry wine? And if posible then with what? Thank You

  • @kramasanas

Hello. Do you want to add a different wine or leave it out completely?

  • @ChefTips Hello. And yes I am wondering if it is possible to add some other wine? And what would it be?

  • @kramasanas

I have used a bold red zinfandel for this sauce. Any red wine would work in place of the sherry.

    Cheers!

  • @ChefTips Thank You so much :) really good recipe !!

  • - Don't just leave it for like 5 minutes or so... the garlic and the onion, I mean. You should set the heat to low (if there is, make it very low, so the onion won't burn) and let it cook until it softens which would take about 15 to 30 minutes;

    - As I said before, use as much fresh products as you can. Use fresh basil and oregano and add it after you did all (cooking the pasta and the sauce);

Besides that, I think you did a great job! Hope you'll take these as tips, not critics!

  • Corrections (without wanting to try to teach you):

    - DO NOT DICE ONION when making pasta sauce! Slice it into FINE slices;

    - DO NOT USE GARLIC PURÉE! Use as much fresh products as you can! Use a garlic clove and put it in the oil while you wait for it to start boiling and BEFORE you put the sliced onion. At the time you're adding the onion, remove the garlic clove. If you prefer to feel the garlic while you're eating the pasta, dice it really finely and put it along with the onion.

    Read part 2!

  • @control735

    No msg! =]

  • @ChefTips no msg only GREAT thanks !! long time i haven't had such tastefull supper :)

  • PLEASE ANSWER ASAP: For how many people is this recipe? because i want to do this for 9 to 10 people

  • @Kaccattlu13

Hello. You should get about 8 to 10 six ounce ladles of sauce from this recipe.

  • The smell of onions cooking in oil, God there's nothing like it.

  • @iAMcooooooool

I always said that when you smell onions and garlic cooking you know something good is going on! =)

  • Very good. Have you tried adding diced carrots and diced celery with your onions?. But I have to correct you, Italians let the sauce simmer for at least 2 hrs.

  • @montrealstars60 You're soooooooooo right! =D I now what I'm talking about, I'm Italian! I wouldn't say 2 hours but simmer it for about at least 30 minutes! For bolognese sauce, 3 hours in total, in which 45 minutes are to garlic and onion cooking...

  • I will have to try this out one day soon. I love trying homemade stuff. Though, I would prefer to make my own puree

  • Thanks Chef!!!! Looks tasty!!!!

  • G'day from Australia - this looks great. What is tomato sauce? Is that what we would call Passata - pureed tomatoes?

  • @blackynth

G'day! Yes, it is basically pureed tomatoes. Thanks for sharing the term Passata. I will have to google it!

    Cheers from the U.S.!

  • @ChefTips Tomato sauce in Australia is called ketchup in the US so I needed to get that sorted!! Thanks for sharing your recipes...outstanding!

    Hello! And thanks for commenting!

  • Where do you stand on smoked meat in the sauce?

I'm thinking of tossing some in with some hamburger meat, pepperoni and italian sausage.

I think I'll call it the "Man-ghetti" sauce.

  • @bigcrazyape

There you go! Sounds good to me!

  • GET IT GURLLLL :)

  • @thegodsend333 Yes, or you can leave it out.

  • Comment removed

  • @zxshadowx

Right after you add the onions.

  • my dad dont like spaghetti

  • Will fresh tomatoes (diced) add to much acid taste?again thanks for the receipe, loved that you used turkey!

  • Can I use fresh tomatoes in sub of the canned crush tomatoes ? Or half can half fresh???

  • what if you want to add some mushrooms. when do you add it in?

  • @zxshadowx I add them right after the onions are transluscent...

  • Bread? WITH PASTA? :O

  • what is the difference between ground turkey and ground beef?

  • @TheInvertKid

Ground turkey is leaner and ground beef has more flavor. The texture once cooked is about the same.

  • Thanks for posting this. I've been looking for a good recipe. I'd like to impress my wife with my cooking skills for a change....

  • I can't even find any ground turkey :(

  • @beatricexox Just use ground beef instead. :)

  • @ChefTips ok thanks!:D:D:D:D.....I live in a very boring place that doesn't have any good ingredients......

  • @cheftips what's the difference in white pepper and regular black pepper?

  • @moonabove89 White pepper is finely ground and has a nicer flavor.

  • Do you have a recepie for the garlic bread? I love garlic bread.

and by the way, i think i will try this, it looks really good!

  • @TheNorwegianNoob Yes! I'll do that video soon!

  • WOW this made me so hungry ^_^

You're a very good cook! And i will definitely try this for my family. ^_^

Do you have a recipe for alfredo sauce???

  • @SingJazzWithSoul18 Thanks! I do have an alfredo sauce recipe, which I haven't posted yet. But you can check out my low-fat alfredo sauce video for something a bit healthier in the meantime.

  • @ChefTips awesome! thank you so much! ^_^

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

  • hello! if i dont want to add the sherry wine, will it make a huge difference?

  • @bbygurgles No, you can leave it out.

  • @longxcoree

No! You must add the basil leaves or I will seek and destroy you!

Just kidding! Feel free to leave them out.

  • Good stuff, love the videos. Thank you for the info.

  • @bobbyleemiller

    Thank you!

  • Oh my lord, that was delicious!! Thankyou so much!!

  • @SuperNinja1981

Thank you so much for commenting!

  • I've never xeen before a sooo much smilin' chef. ;-)

But anyway, it looks nice. Oh, i mean the meal. ^^

  • Try Colavita brand tomatos. I think they are one of the few that have no citric acid or calcium chloride added, just salt. I also use the Pomi brand from Italy. Their tomatos come in a box with nothing added. (no salt either)

  • @madisonelectronic

    Thank you for sharing that!

  • very clear easy to follow ....thank you!

  • @setokun You're welcome. Hope you enjoy it!

  • i basically used this exact recipe the other day but i used red pack toms instead of organic. Needless to say, it was looking good until I poured in the stuff, and it ended up pretty bad. Where can I get organic canned toms and what brand is good, or are they all the same?

  • @shady347 You can get organic canned tomatoes in most supermarkets. Where are you located?

  • @ChefTips Jersey City, NJ

  • @shady347 Hmmm. They should have it there along with the regular canned tomatoes. Otherwise you might have to go online. Do you have Whole Foods markets there? They would have it.

  • @ChefTips well I'd have to take the PATH train to NY for whole foods but I didn't think of getting it online

  • this was very helpful thank you so much for making this video

  • @rebelchaos1987 Thanks! I hope you enjoy it. Cheers, Jason

  • umm what can i do to counter the acidity?

  • @francocrs

Add a little sugar, a tbsp, and stir. Taste and add a little more if needed.

Another thing you can try is adding a half cup of shredded carrot when cooking the onion. The sugar in the carrots will help.

  • Love watching your videos, easy to follow and well explain. I'll be cooking next week for a few friends and I'll use this recipe. Wish me luck!

Keep up the good work, Chef!

  • @EvaCory2010

Hope you enjoyed it. Thanks for commenting!

  • This looks amazing, definitely going to try this out tonight.

  • @Repulse1988 Enjoy!

  • very helpful... thank you!

  • I like eating onions because then my girlfriend will eat my dick.

    (BTW I'm a girl...HAHAHAHAHA)

  • Guys, I'm an italian, i love cooking and ChefTips gave me a lot of tips about american dishes to try here in my country, but I don't know why americans put a LOT of garlic and a LOT of onion in many of our italian recipes that need just a bit of them.... here you just needed a quarter or maybe a little bit more of a quarter of the onion he put in the sauce, and using fresh tomatos (instead of the tomato paste) it will taste even better........ I'll never understand...

  • @Xkima77

There are many ways to make a tomato based sauce. I am sure you can make an awesome sauce! I will be doing a fresh grilled tomato pasta sauce real soon. It's hard to understand the different ways people cook things. Things are done different around the globe. I am thankful for youtube so that we can share.

    Thanks for sharing your comment.

  • how come youre not using fresh herbs? I always have a basil plant and parseley on my window sil(like probably most eco friendly europeans).

  • @kamihonkkruemel

Hello. I do use fresh herbs from my garden in a lot of my dishes. I did this recipe because it came from my grandfather who lived next to an Italian family in the 40's who shared a similar recipe with him. Dried herbs work good when fresh is not available.

  • heres another subscriber!

  • @joyErroja Thank you very much!

  • nice tip , love your way of cooking it

  • Damn... you choped that onion perfectly..

  • @rerundadog Thanks! :)

  • @ChefTips Hiii..is there any way to replace the sherry wine??

  • that is so healthy, I use turkey meat too

  • I made this today and boy-o-boy was it amazing!

    ChefTips = WIN

  • nessuno in italia fa la salsa con il tacchino, si usa la carne bovina e suina. ;'avete inventato voi questa ricetta

  • Freshly toasted garlic bread lol

  • Man that looks good, I can't wait to try it. Would finely chopped carrots cut the acidity?

  • @I3addogy I've put carrots into the pasta sauce before and it's really nice. Definitely adds a sweeter touch.

  • @I3addogy try adding some red bell peppers - not only they cut the acidity, but they also compliment the tomatoes in a very nice way.

  • looks really delicious, but i'll use pork meat

  • man this looks really good :] makes me want to go makes some now lol. i totally agree with sweetweni about the onion chopping...totally badass. hopefully i can learn to chop onions like that soon. keep up the tasy work and thanks for sharing!
