Think about this for a second. This was for a SNES game. Most people back then didn't give a crap about videogames. And Nobuo composed this epic and long song for the final boss battle. He could have just made a 2/3 minutes loop and call it a day. Off the top of my head there is only FF7 that had a comparable final battle song in therms of epicness. But it still doesn't progress as good with the fight as this one. Thank you for such a great song Mr Uematsu. You sure cared about this game. ( :

@MegaPhilX I personally found The Extreme very epic. Also the 3 other bosses before Ultimecia's true form where pretty hard. So when you finally hear that creepy intro where she introduces herself for you once again, and just blasts off with the classic Final Fantasy bass line after that, - very satisfying , very epic IMO.

The crazy thing about this is that even in MIDI (music format used in Super Famicom cartridges games), this song was full with all these emotions we can feel when it's performed in live.

Same goes for the opera scene soundtrack and "lyrics".
