Also please think logical do you seriously think a video game would be the place for him to be honest about his past. Noone knows what happened 100% and its better that way. You know what I wish they would've done, they should've had some interview tapes of Bruce Wayne. Not Batman, just Bruce Wayne. The interviewer could've been Jack Ryder and Wayne could've expressed his views on Arkham City more thoroughly then what he did in the beginning of the game.

But I mean Ryder is known for asking controversial questions so he probably would've asked Wayne how he truly felt about the Monarch Theatre, his parents' murder scene, being basically in the middle of Arkham City. They might've explained that in the game but like I said in my last comment it would be great to hear his reaction to these questions. He'll probably say "No comment." & walk away from the interview if the question truly hit home, which it probably would.

2nd Question: Well first stab at a (retrospective) Joker origin was done in DC Vol 1 168 (1951). Joker reveals he used to be the Red Hood before his chemical after a imposter took up Hood persona.

As for Jokers first appearance in Batman #1 (1940), well....he just appears. First grinning corpse start popping up and then Joker turns up on the radio to declare who he's going to kill next. Diabolus Ex Nihilo essentially.

@wasupant1 Actually, Mark Hamill is willing to return if he thinks a script is good enough. He felt that Arkham Asylum was un-toppable but was proven wrong with Arkham City, is it really too far fetched that Paul Dini can write a wonderous return for Joker in the third game? I for one, think not.

@shyryguy The Joker dies like every other comic apparently, even his thugs in Arkham City complains that the Joker dies too often, I found that 4th wall joke hilarious. But really Batman is not Batman without the Joker, and maybe, just maybe the vice versa is also true. Even when the Joker dies in one comic, another writer brings him back, because after all, we all need a good Joke every now and again.

Personally I never fully consider any Joker story 100% cannon, because that sort of ruins the mystery of why he's so crazy. In fact even that can be speculated to a certain extent as he seems to realize claiming insanity is what's keeping him from a death sentence. He's clearly got some problem/problems but it's that mysterious past that makes him particularly dangerous as it allows him to manipulate others with a variety of stories. Just look at what he did with Harley Quinn.

So its safe to say that Batman was present and/or had some part is shaping the Joker's persona as a homicidal mastermind.

Personally, I believe that not having a definitive origin story for Joker is what makes him the icon that he is now. One of the Jokers most distinguish characteristics is that he is unpredictable. He is a master of both brilliantly creative strategy and improvisation. Once his origins is revealed, he will gradually lose that mystery and randomness about him.

@202MegaHomer202 It was a big one-shot comic thing they did. It actually established a lot of plot--it's where Joker shot Barbara Gordon and put her in a wheelchair for life. It keeps showing flashbacks to Joker's past before the accident, basically recapped there in the interview.

At the end, Batman's subdued Joker, who says "You had a bad day once, too, didn't you?" Batman asks him if he wants help. Wants to be normal--if Joker does, Batman would try to help him. Joker thanks him, calls him an old friend, and says no, it's too late. Then tells him the whole joke, so the cops arrive to see them laughing their heads off together.
