Lip-syncher is not the first time it happend in Olympics. Sydney 2000 and Torino 2006 Winter Olympics also had lip synched their performances. But why there isn't any bitter opinions towards Sydney 2000 and Torino 2006 Olympics' lip-synching??
Lip-synching is no big deal, but out of JEALOUSY, western media have to nitpick small things and blow it all out of proportion to make the best opening ceremony in history seem as though it wasn't as spectacular as most people perceived it to be.

If China used alot of real fire works, the visibility of the olympics performance that night could be very blurred and smoky in the stadium. As for the lip synching I think its a little harsh, but keep in mind they ARE the host country, it is their decision, not ours.

lol yunuo22 Bejing Olympics didnt used fake shit. They prerecorded some of the stuff because they were afraid that during the opening day bad weather may appear and screw over the fireworks. So they recorded the actual thing just in case. This shows how much Americans media are jealous of China since they edited the part where they said weather out in which this AP press fails to answer.

AP, "some" of the fireworks displays weren't faked. Only one was - the footprints.
Part of the footprint fireworks footage were faked. However, The footprint fireworks DID occur outside the stadium (theres plenty of videos here to prove it).
The TV & stadium audiences watched the computer generated version because the organizers wanted the audience to "travel" with the footprints. They didn't use a helicopter because it would have been to dangerous to fly that low over the fireworks.

Lip-syncher is not the first time it happend in Olympics. Sydney 2000 and Torino 2006 Winter Olympics also had lip synched their performances. But why there isn't any bitter opinions towards Sydney 2000 and Torino 2006 Olympics' lip-synching??
Lip-synching is no big deal, but out of JEALOUSY, western media have to nitpick small things and blow it all out of proportion to make the best opening ceremony in history seem as though it wasn't as spectacular as most people perceived it to be.

The actual footprint firewoks WERE going off at the same time as the simulated one on TV, and in much the same way... tourists and people in Beijing saw the footprint fireworks fired above sky.
but it was hard to capture all those 29 footprint fireworks on a helicopter, and it was hard to predict the weather or other cirumstances, and following those footprint fireworks could endanger the safety of the helicopter pilot. So, they showed a 55-second CGI illustration for the people watching TV.

i have to say chinese did a great opening and created a challenging yardstick. The western media do try to magnify China's shortfalls on a regular basis but the olympics opening is an event to show the whole world that China has arrived as a modern nation but this debacle clearly shows that the Chinese still have not removed their habit of taking shortcuts. Im not trying to make a big deal out of it, but China has to start recognizing merit (singing talent) instead of looks (just a face).
