  • Just for information,

from tomorrow a new app available on the Apple Store

    IRTTY.

    Kind Regards,

    Luca

  • I have TS480 and an iPod touch. What cable are you using between the radio and the touch, please?

  • Hi Philip,

I used a Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic .

    Soon I'release a new app IRTTY...stay tuned !

    Kind regards

  • @ipsk31

So you're holding the mic up to the speaker on the radio?

  • Yes, but you can check my support site for other solutions.

    Ciao ;)

  • Brilliantm I have it and it works great on recieve. how do you hook this up to transmit and accomplish PTT?

    Tnx,

    Steve/N2XC

  • Hi Steve,

    PTT is made by VOX.

I mean you must set up your rtx to operate with VOX.

If vox is on, you must put hearphone close to your mic. After that you can start to write on Iphone (one tap) and with another tap Iphone will generate audio signal. Vox will act as PTT.

A better way is to use a Digital Mode Interface so audio goes directly on rtx with no noise and always VOX ON.

    Best Regards,

    Luca

  • I'm using an SGC2020 with no VOX. I'm thinking of a "y" cable with earphone and mic wired and get it into the mic jack on the xtr. It still does not solve the PTT problem? The SGC 2020 is small and I want to keep everything compact because I take it with me and work from all sorts of places. I'll look into digital mode interface (rig blaster?) and see what's out there.

    Great app, thanks

    Steve

  • Thank you for using IPsk31.

About rig baster I don't think is a good idea 'cause you have not a USB.

To act PTT you can use an external VOX unit as ICOM VS 1L .

From Iphone hearphone you go to VS-1 and then to the rig.

    Hope this help ;)

    Ciao

    Luca

  • @n2xc Guy's, this is simple...

Get a Tigertronics Signalink SL-1 and terminate into a 1/8" 4-conductor audio jack.

Problem solved! You will need to add a small battery pack to power the SL-1's VOX relay.
