  • These bells sound so beautiful, when and if I. Am in the area I must come and have a go, I only live in Bolton so not too far to drive

  • Absoloutely brilliant - Purton springs to mind instantly, though these sound slightly better - though about the same weights despite Purton being just 20cwt!!

  • @simonbellringer, Westbury doesn't spring to your mind then, despite them having much more in common with these than Purton's mixed bag?

  • @bellboy222 Yes, they do as well... though I think they sound a bit more majestic than these!! And I ring at Purton a lot more than Westbury so they come to mind first, though you are, of course, correct; Westbury are very similar to these!! And is it me or are you just a very critical person? Purton are a mixed bag but I think they create a good, characterful 8.

  • @simonbellringer, I am a bit on the critical side I suppose, but I couldn't understand how an 8 by mixed founders could come to your mind ahead of a complete Taylor 8, nearer to the weight of these, and which ought to be fresh in your mind, notwithstanding the fact that you ring at Purton often, and they are the same note as these!

  • @bellboy222 Unless it is just the recording, these just dont quite have the same majesty as Westbury!! Glorious sounding bells though, no way am I saying otherwise... And Purton are by no means the worst "mixed founder" ring ever, if anything it is the 7, which is a newer bell (1916, and by Taylors dare I add!?!) that is probably the most out if you listen there.

  • absolutely fantastic ho ho ho!
