I can believe it. The 5spd Rx-7 has 4.10 gears, the automatic has 3.90's. A 6spd C5 has 3.42's and the automatics have 2.73's and 3.15 gears. The RX-7 also weighs 300-400 lbs lighter. If a Nissan 240sx with a stock RB26DETT can run a 12 second 1/4, there's no reason an FD with an LS1 can't break into the 11's. RWHP is real close, and the LS1 has a much broader power band over the RB26.
rx7s have so much potential its insane if you SC a LS1 your looking at a street racing nightmare. Ive been part of a SR scene in my area for a few years and ive run into one Rx7 that hasn't lost a race since ive been watching him. Ill record one of the races in a few weeks you laugh at how quick this thing is.
My 6spd C5 is supercharged with a D1SC making 485rwhp @ 8psi with just the s/c and headers. My friend who drag races says with slicks, he could get the car into the 10's. If I ever get ahead financially, I'm putting a turbo Ls2 in my FD and tracking it.

haha, i got a contestant for you: 2001 Ranger SB SC, 9" rear 4.88 gears, Viper T-56, 2001 Cobra motor, Comp Cams 276AH cams, long tubes, X-pipe, SLP's, Mustang coil-overs, SSBC brakes, etc, etc. our custom built shop truck. flat black, with 2001 Cobra rims. But a KB Lightning still sounds better.
