Players like Apap are the only true hope for keeping broad interest in classical music alive. - Such passion! Such whimsy !
His intonation is a bit questionable, otherwise I'd rate him as one of the top 2-3 violinists alive. I have all of the "Transylvanian Mountain Boys" albums. Incredible stuff.
Here we are. This man is full of colour. So daring in his performance. Absolutely wonderful. He plays directly from the heart. Some of the other modern modern players could learn a few things from Giles Apap
Hey, guy, just because the music puts you in the clouds doesnt mean your head has to be...Check down to earth sometime soon, I'm sure you're needed. (If all else fails, ALWAYS check the description box, its written infront of you)
Mozart's music generally induces vomiting for me, but I actually find this little ditty quite enjoyable... Cute and spritely... with absolutely no vomiting... wow...
Everything sounds so gypsy I think. A "real" virtuoso is nice but classical music needs another approach due to the social circumstances of those times which should not mean that classical music should be always elegant like I think Anne-Sophie M's interpretations which I don't like. There should be a kind of dedication but modesty as well. This interpretation to me is like a sketch of baroque castle. Might be nice but it's just a sketch and Mozart should be outlined like a castle.
to amapparat, with a critique like that I bet you're not happy unless you've got something to complain about or find fault in something. I'm betting you have favorited anything either. Bet if offered a gift or compliment you'd complain about that too. Let's test it: Hey, you're really good at complaining.
I got the chance to spend a week with him at an International Violin Conference in Nashville. I play indian classical music, and Gilles and my teacher were very good friends. he's as you would expect him...modest, curious, very funny, and completely down to earth. What a talent!
I would LOVE to not just see him play in person, but to actually MEET him. He seems like he'd be as amazing of a human being as a violin virtuoso. What personality!!
ty a lot for this information, believe that im going to do an exam on 3rd july in espinho :), unfortunately on july 4 i have a concert and im afraid i cant go
i love this man... the greatest violinist ever, its not in his fingers, its in his heart, in his face... we can see that he is enjoying the music, he is genious!!! download his album, its awesome, listen to hora staccato!!!
I have never seen him playing by notes. He seem to know every piece in his mind. He plays with such empathy. By the way, I have never heard such vivid classical music.
He is just marvellous. Have been on one of his concerts . Just love his playing and his interpretation of Violinmusic. He is really a musical genius.

His music may be in the cloud but your ass is in a sling. If you knew the man as I do you would be on your knees.

I'd say this is probably one of the best written, most concise, and above all, useful comments I have read on youtube. Thank you, friend.

Never heard this movement, but I can easily tell that Mozart brought some of his clarinet concerto over to this concerto.
Or he borrowed some of this for his clarinet concerto, I don't know.
