I wish some of these would get released on dvd and yes I agree the commercials make the experience complete. When not in school, I watched this with my grandpa from 1990 til 1997 when he died. We used to bet everyday on the big wheel. For everyone who got a dollar, he'd give me a dollar and if they got a 2nd one, I'd get 2. The most I think I ever walked away with in one day was 3 dollars I think but I never got more than 5 a week. In the early 90's, 5 dollars was a lot of money to a young kid.
Not stupid question ;-) We actually went to Rome first and then six months later, Hawaii. For a variety of reasons we simply forfeited the trip to Japan. We were not allowed to transfer the trip. As a side note, TPIR gave us the hook-up. Everything was wonderful on both trips!
The girl in the video who won the showcases, etc is me. My nephew dug this up and gets such a kick out of watching it all these years later. It was pretty cool to get the car without one number wrong! My husband was a huge help. We were out in CA celebrating our first wedding anniversary. :-) It was the most memorable to date...21 1/2 happy years later.
@auntsteph38 Stupid question but - it looked like the prize was Hawaii, Italy then Japan. Did you go in that order or streamline by going one way around the world?
@auntsteph38 That's really great that you won all of that, *and* congrats on 21 1/2 years of marriage. Can't believe 1991 was nearly that long ago already lol. Too bad that you couldn't take the Japan trip, but hey, easily made up with everything else. I'm surprised Bob didn't say "How many times has a contestant gotten all numbers right on the first try?" haha. Congratulations again...what a perfect way to celebrate an anniversary, especially first.
Doesn't Lester Strong look shockingly like a young Samuel L. Jackson? Also, this was a great episode and thank you for keeping the adverts in...that's half the fun n my opinion!
It seems that for the last year they used the green turntable borders and carpeting, they switched the Showcase podiums (normally during the 1982-2003 era, the top winner was behind the purple podium, and the runner-up was behind the orange podium).
I remember Bob Barker's guest appearance on Futurama in 2000, in an episode where Fry, Leela, and Bender are trying to locate a rare gem, the prize for the winner of the beauty pageant that Bob's hosting. "Do you brain-dead space jockeys have any idea how much that thing is worth"? "$100,000"? "$200,000"? "$200,001"? "You're closest without going over".
You had to take out that Celebration music and replaced it with the regular TPiR theme. Right?

Loved Rod in that Fairy Godmother costume! "Which one that last one? Wasn't she lovely? Everyone makes mistakes."

The CBS pages are wearing blue jackets. I thought the jackets were red.

3:42 Pay close attention. Is Kathleen clicking her heels?
34:10 That would make for a fantastic facepalm shot for future commentaries of mine!
53:27 That Ex-Lax commercial aired as recently as 2004.
