The 351 Cleveland is NOT a big block, it is not in the 90 degree small block family, but it is in the 335 series of ford SMALL blocks -- Get your fucking facts straight
351 Cleveland's were dimensionally close to a 350 chevy internally look up the specs 3.5 stoke 4.0 bore the rods are close to 5.7 inches long and the blocks are close to the same size but the heads are quite a bit bigger and the crank is heavier and a little bigger not much though, this engine is smaller than a 351 Windsor and makes better power and sounds better. they did make small block c6 transmissions, you will find them in mustangs and torinos. personally I liked the c4 better for a car.
Clevelands are NOT big or small blocks. The are a 335 designation. They are kind of a mid block. The 351 Cleveland didnt run a c6....they were a small block bellhousing so they could only run a c4 unless you convert over a C6 with the bh.
The M' or modified clevelands all were the C6 auto.
Not small or big...they are their own block........so are the M's.
@ericlarsen Ford C6 transmissions do not have a removable bellhousing they are either a small block version for 351 or a big block version for a 429 I have owned both. And yes 351 cleaveland Torinos did come with C6 trannys from the factory not all but they were available.
Had one just like it in 80, ran the hell out of it . Hit a telephone pole, knocked a travel trailer over then finally ran it into the local mortuary and went through windshield. Paper boy found me almost frozen it was below zero that car was bad luck.
you know the made a 72 torino with a very similar front its a very very rare car one of the most rarest ford cars and im a proud owner of one if you would like to see it i will make a small vid on it im about to start on it in a few weeks its in pretty rough shape what also makes it very rare is its a 302 3 speed on the colum and it was order with GT interior but its not GT plus its 2 door with single seats instead of a binch seat most 3 speed had bench seat this is a very odd ball. love the vid
@ltd429 actually they are very much the same in looks but diff years see in 72 the torino you see all the time is the gran torino with the ovell grill but mine was the very first 72 befor they changed the look of it in the middle of the year 1972 ill show you let me get a vid ill send it to you
@ltd429 Exacfly right 70/71s are totally different from 72 on 70/71s are unibody cars and 72 and up are full frame cars a 72 is a 72 is a 72. They were not changed in the middle of the year!
351c is considered a big block because it has a 9.5 deck height,a351w has a 9.2 deck height same as the standard 302,the 351m has a 400 block with cleavland rotating assembly,
I have a 351 Cleveland on an engine stand with plans to build a 408 stroker out of it. I'm not sure what I'm going to put it in. I'm a big fan of the 68, 69, 70 F100. Either that or a Torino if I can find one worth rebuilding. The 351C was even marketed by Ford as "The small block that runs like a big block." If you want to get technical it's a Mid block. No matter what you call it....IT'S KILLER!!!
This looks like my husbands!!!! All rebuilt from two different cars that were junkers!!! He is looking to sell it sometime if he could get the right money for it.
It has the 351 Cleveland in it...there's the huge debate on whether it's a big or small block. talking about displacement it's a small block, same size as a 351 Windsor which is regarded as a small block, but it has the characteristics of a big block including interchangeable distributors.
nice 71 Torino GT...is it the Cleveland or a big block. rare color too and "laser stripes" look correct. I had a Red 70 model with the cleveland and hurst 4-speed/console. What a car...still have the window sticker, but alas, not the car!!
Negative, the 351 is a small block whether Windsor or Cleveland, the big block I was referring to was the option of having a 428 Cobra Jet 70 Torino, they sound so nice with a good exhaust sytem...There was also an SCJ or Super Cobra Jet that I don't know much about other than the name, was obviously more horsepower, geared towards racing.
Yeah this has a rebuilt 351 Cleveland from a 70 Torino. Right now its sporting a C6 but I have plans for a Tremec T-56 6 speed when I have the time and money.
hey baronxsa-only real americans can appreciate the pure horsepower, control, and torque, engine rev and excitement that comes from one of these burnouts ! quit bitchin and drive cars like you stole 'em! flog those ponies! horsepower rocks!
Where did I say that lada is any good? Any car can do a burnout, don`t be stupid. Ow, I got it. This cars are so afraid of corners that they can only do a burnouts. Ok.
Beautiful Torino! I used to own a 70. It was red with the laser stripes. I still have some of the parts from it. Sure wish I had it now!! Unreal burnout!!
Yeah, me too a Red 70 Torino GT with the fading yellow to red laser stripes that ended BEFORE the "gills". 351 cleveland and hurst 4-speed, buckets, console. Loved that car, stepDad bought when came home from Vietnam. I loved riding with him, going fast, doing burnouts. When he passed, he made sure my Mom knew to save for me and she did. But I let the car go when I joined the Navy. Sure wish I could get her back.
