I can't find any words to say.....this is more than a car....it has a soul...it meets a human soul....creates a harmony between living things and technology....it opens a new door to our understanding of vehicles....this car is alive...this car brings up emotions that even people are not capable of....this is a work of art, this is a new life....I don't know what more to say.....so far, I've never seen anything like this before...and nothing made me feel this way...this is pure art of life!

Some of you guys actually think people that acquire this kind of vehicles actually care about mpgs? well, they don't if they did they'd all end up buying other cars such as an Diesel A8.

This is a great looking car, I only wish I had the money to buy it and drive it.

I do agree with you, if you have the money to buy this car you don't care about MPG's, I mean, why would you. Probably this car is going to be on the 1 million of dollars range (maybe higher, maybe lower, who knows), insurance, and high consumption taxes, the least thing on your mind would be MPG.

mpg, miles per gallon, refers to the fuel economy, not its consumption. as consumption is a measure of distance, hence it would have to be called gallons per miles. your trying to find a value for the highest economical car, so mpg is the correct description

The Car is not a wow car, yes it looks different, a good type of different, it's... I don't even know where to begin... It's wierd, look powerful, meaningless, expensive, uberluxurious, but still point less. Don't ask MPG 'cuz if it gives more than 4 MPG's I'll be astonished. I was lost by the narrator on the whole blood thing.

But one thing is for sure, if I had the money, would I buy it? the answer, Hell Yes!

Then prepare to be astonished. The Veyron gets 14mpg on the highway and would be expected to get about 10mpg during normal driving.

Really! wow, I'm truly astonished! 10 mpg in normal and 14 on highway?!, not bad, taking the fact that he is a W16 engine with 4 superchargers and is AWD. Putting all that in to context then is a fairly economical car (on it's own way), thanks for the info!

Four turbochargers, not superchargers. It makes a difference for mileage. Superchargers are "always on". Turbochargers only kick in when the engine goes over a preset number of revs. That's one of the reasons the Veyron is as economical as it is.

It might have been more economical if they'd used the next generation of Volkwagen/Audi's "FSI" technology. They were planning to do so but decided to leave it out in order to get the car out the door. If they hadn't...18-20mpg hwy/14 city.

Superchargers are not always on, Early VWs maybe, but Toyota had magnetic clutched superchargers (simular to aircon, disengaged/engage) back in the 80s!. Latest on cars,of all makes, oe/after market, have bi pass valves etc. It generally can be easier, for manufactures, practically for current regulations, to fit a supercharger, and have to comply with strict emissions laws of today.

Yeah, it is possible to put some sort of clutch on them as with an aircon compressor... but the fact is that most manufacturers don't do that. One if the benefits of the supercharged engine is that it has a more linear power delivery than a turbocharged engine.

Why would anyone want to screw that up with a clutch?

For as you said economy. other reason for a road car, is you dont always wont that surge of the supercharger all the time hence, for example on a roundabout etc, ask any VW owner.

I have a supercharged Jaguar. There's no problem with a sudden surge of power (unlike turbochargers).

Yes, I just check my facts straight and I mix up, they are not superchargers, they are Turbochargers, it also says that the Veyron does a respectable 8 MPG City/ 13 MPG Hwy. Still fairly good, Thanks for the correction!
