Nice video. I've been thinking of upgrading my old 85 Maxim XJ700NC for ether a sport bike such as the R6 or GSXR but I'm wondering how do you feel after riding an R6 on longer trips say over 3 hours? I'm also considering the Yamaha Star 950 but reviews say riders have problems with the floorboards scraping on sharp corners.
I understand you are on the road, not on circuit, I understand road conditions gives you border of riding, but hard ride? I ride harder on my sv 650 n and dont have a need to record it.
you still have a lot to learn, but keep on riding, practice makes perfection ... your lines are wrong, you don't know what's an apex , you don't know how to ride fast with a flowing pace, next time try to stay on the outside of the corners, " looking for the apex ", instead of going inside so soon, even if you need new tires... hard ride ?! nice road !!
@francisco67pereira It wasn't me that needed new tires and it wasn't me that was recording the video. I'm the guy on the other bike.
While I do thank you for your critique, you should understand that this is not a track. As we appoach some these corners, doing so is often dictated by the road's condition.

For starters, he could not keep up with me. I was going into some of the turns at about 135 MPH and holding the turns at just over 90. If you didn't have all of your rubber on the road, it wouldn't have been enough to hold the turns.
He got some rubber for the bike not long after that.
really good vid, wish it was in 1080p for the full screen. Dont know why everybody makin these vids needs to add music. To me, the sound of that bike is music to my ears.
Personally not a gixxer fan myself. I know they are all closely related and similar. my 6'2 frame just fits best on a Yamaha R1. The r6 is too small, my knees buckle on the bars. My first bike was a ninja 250 and it was a great beginner bike.
@andresmalo first: the dude already told me he was on the GSX-R with his friend recording on the R6. Second: "you dick" ? Lmao dude i'm into bikes since two weeks and i don't know all the models, so? Are you some kind of nerd of bikes? Nice one omniscent man :D
Two things. If you've only been riding for two months, get the stupid idea of wheelies out of your head. They are a lot of fun but not so much when you lose control.
For the first year or two on your bike, just get used to riding. Find some people who also like to ride and learn the basics while getting used to your ride.
The R6 is a great bike. I expect that you'll have a great time riding it. Try to enjoy some of that time with the rubber-side down.
For those that like the music, I have this version of the video. There is also a version of the exact same video which does not have any music at all.
I have something for everyone. All you need to do is look. If you don't like what I have to offer, go elsewhere. There are a lot of videos on YouTube.
Great video man and the most clear I've ever seen. What camera are you using . I have tried a dvd camera but it fails because there too much vibration. Now I have an oregon scientific but its not as clear. I would be pleased if you tell me what camera model you have.
Also just for curiosity what tire pressure do you use? (Front - Rear)
First of all, I don't have it on. It's not my bike that's recording the video. It's a friend of mine who was recording me in front of him. Im the other guy in the video.
Second, this was recorded in Rhode Island. Out of the 50 states in the US, RI is statistically dead last when it comes to driver safety. People here don't even look at the road they drive on. Between changing radio stations, texting friends and reading the instructions on how to operate a turn signal, there's no motivation to actually pay attention to the road. Having the beams on might be the difference in keeping my friend alive.
Drove the corners? First of all the tires were so worn they were about to explode. And don't expect people to rail around corners while wearing jeans, unless you're an idiot, judging by your lame comment.......I think we know the answer to that.
man if you stay inside your limits and you are paying attention to what people are doing around you will be fine. good vid and remember the rubber stays on the ground and the plastic in the air
Dude, the point of this video was not "close calls on an R6" or something like that. It's just a relaxing ride, with nice background. I appreciated it
im thinkin over to get an R6 as first bike. I know its a lil too much for a first bike, but mi confident in my self-control. Im not that good of a mechanic to be able to buy a 250 cc, get used to it, and then a 600cc,so ill get an R6 and be easy with it. Any advices?
ps: no music can eb better than those rev's.. :D i think u get the point, for your next vid :P great work
r6 was my first bike and first time ever riding (since july 09), hopped on it and rode away and NEVER dropped it... so far lol (knock on wood) but that is a great piece of machine, i want an R1 now but i really recommend this bike unless you prefer other model but performance is all there..
Thx for your advice. It really motivates me :D and makes me be more confident in the R6 as my first bike. Im curious about how much did u pay for yours? Was it new or used?
its an 09, any r6 from 06 and on are great. the only bad thing about it is that they are not very comfortable, you're pretty much in race position all the time but like i said its a great bike and very easy to handle. go for whatever you like, suzukis are also great bikes but everybody has one lol.
And what's the problem??? I don't think it ever went over 199. That's still well below when the fan kicks on. Course you would know that if you had a bike.
What I want to know is what kind of camera did you use? It looks absolutely awesome!
I just starting riding my 06 r6 last week (first bike and love it) and everyone is like 210 is good running temp and since I've been riding I've notice that it on goes up to like 180 if its hot out. Sorry for the stupid post i was givin the wrong info. lol.
I agree.. the music is always an overkill. If you stand in front of a speaker and a bike flies by, you will no longer hear the music. Ahhh the sound of raw power..SWEEEET! Ok im going for a ride now!! Thx..

If I were closer to the R6, I would be going slower. In this video, my bike is the one in front. I'm on the GSX-R 750.
My friend who recorded the video is on the R6. He was in dire need of new tires that day.

runnin up to the Rev Limiter not only sounds bad but is rough on the bike. overall nice vid
BajaRaceFab 2 years ago
Holding it at the limit for a few seconds doesn't hurt the bike. Bypassing the limiter and holding it at red line would.
This bike has a compression ratio of 13.1:1 and a red line of 17500 rpm.
I don't make it a habit to hit the limiter, just got caught up in the moment and what a fun moment it was.
:)

I'm the 08 R6 rider in the vid.
The cam is a Canon FS100.
SDHC class 6 card.

Auto stabilization.
Techmount stem cam mount.
It was a fun ride, unfortunately tires were toast.
