@RileyAndNia First of all its not "rodeo riders" that do that its BRONC riding that they do that in. So get your story straigh before you insult people. And not all rodeos use those straps, like all of our local ones, none of them use straps.
@youraddiction427 it acctually wasnt i was watching a show about it on animal planet the horse came out and was acting wierd from the very biggining and out of no where reared and came down her the horn on the saddle went in her head and then she got dragged
those people wearing bloody cowboy hats. has it yet dawned on them that it would be safe to wear a riding hat????? they could seriously hurt themselves and i wouldn't be the least bit surprised.
It's been a tradition for a very long time to wear cowboy hats in western riding. Sure, it's not as safe, but it's tradition and a big part of the sport.
Safety is important, I'm not promoting wearing cowboy hats in riding, but I'm just stating that in almost all western riding I've seen, cowboy hats are part of the sport.
At 52, that rider was seriously injured, the right part of her face was hanging from the saddle horn tearing it. Or that's how I remember the info.(Found out about a long time so I may be wrong) But got vid! I like it!
@HorseyIndyJones Yer that's right she was badly injured as her horse was acting up but she decided to barrel race anyway and ends up like you said with part of her face hanging off :/ it turned out the horse was in pain with it's teeth being over grown and she retired from barrle racing after that and now just uses her horse for genral riding, glad she was brave enough to get back on after that :)
