@Leoxlim81 If an ASD is smaller than 3 mm it may close spontaneously in an infant. Almost 100% closure may occur before the age of 1 1/2 years. A defect more than 8 mm almost always needs surgery and also as an adult if there are sign of heart pump failure which generally occur in the 4th and 5th decades of life if left untreated.
what size should the hole be for it to be considered a serious problem and needs operation?

thanks my bf is in the hospital for this as i type this, he is 62 and may need surgery because his hole has enlarged...
is there a patch big enough to close the hole?
