something is fucked up considering an e92 m3 stock does a 13.7 quarter mile. This is a 1/4 KM and the time was 14.9. For those that cant convert a 1/4 mile is .4 km. SO a driver who knows what he is doing covers almost twice the distance in a second less. I agree though most evenly powered gt to m3. gt wins straight line but gets powned (on average) in anything that isnt a straight line drag

@maxyac1 - NO GT500 is that slow... Most are high 12s - low 13s on stock tires (they just spin), high 11s - low 12s on drag tires. Regular 4.6 GTs (stock) typically run high 13s - low 14s in the 1/4. If you're used to a Sonata, you'd sh!t a brick riding in my GT500... :)

I'm a BMW guy but you need to give credit where it's due. Ford is stepping up their game. I also read an article in Motortrend or Car & Driver recently where the Mustang really did hold it's own against BMW. Even won in some tests. 10 years ago this would be unheard of. I don't care if John force is driving the E92 M3 on slicks, it would never run11s bone stock. It has 2 character flaws, weight and no torque. The GT500 benefits from drag radials and slicks because the brute torque it makes roasts any street radial. So with a good tire, it launches like something blew up in the trunk. As far as turns, go look up the Virginia International Raceway times for the E92 M3 vs the 2011 GT500.

Actually it's a Shelby GT, not the gt500. In 2007/2008 there was a limited production shelby gt. The shelby GT came stock with 319 hp. Basically a Mustang gt with a cold air kit and shelby hardware on the outside. Still a nice car though.

well when an everday driver takes a car to the strip they will not run what the pros run in the mags. this could have also taken place in a higher altitude which will cause the times to be higher. driving a car on a strip is nothing like the street and very few people are able to run a good 1/4 mile their first time out.

I raced a new cobra in my 135i at a traffic light. I got 1/2 cars on him out of the box and kept it to about 65. We got to the second light and I got a whole car on him and kept it until the same.
