  • I salute all the doctors who don't get nauseated learning this stuff. This is the reason why I went into Computer Engineering, I'm about to vomit within 5 seconds of this video. Future doctors, you are well appreciated.

  • @beinglogic Couldnt have said it any better, although, I think it takes a psychotic person to do this stuff without thinking twice about it.

  • im due to have microsurgery operation on 21st october and for what im reading on here im having serious doubts, can someone please reasure me and put something good about this op on here please.lol.

  • Recovery time is long

  • Best advice to heal from a microfracture knee surgery - Part 1 : 1) REST IN BED AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE 2) Put a board down and slide your foot up and down about 50-90 times 5-6 times a day to improve your motion & strengthen the muscles around it 3) Ice for 20 minutes after each session. The real pain usually comes about 1-1/2 to 2 months after when it starts to heal in the area they microfractured. Remember that the key to it healing correctly is what you do your first 2-3 months.

  • Best advice to heal from a microfracture knee surgery - Part 2: Limit your physical therapy sessions to 1-2 a week and I wouldn't even start them unitl 2 months after. 70 percent of your physical therapy should be done at home in bed or in your living room.DONT DO LEG EXTENSIONS OR SQUATS WITH WEIGHTS for at least a 8-9 months after surgery.I felt great an went in the gym 2 1/2 months after surgery and did one set of 30 reps and had alot of pain in my knee for the next month from doing that.

  • I had microfracture a few days ago in a non-weight bearing area of the femur; the doc found the defect during a scope about a month ago. I've had absolutely no pain and almost no swelling (no pain after recent scope, either - great doc!). I even fixed an ignition issue with my wife's car today while hobbling around on crutches. I will say that the immobilizer is annoying, and I've caught myself almost forgetting to put it back on after sitting. I should be able to bear weight later this week.

  • @hoopfan71 Be ready for some slight pain, especially under the knee cap. It will start up in about 1 1/2 to 2 months when it really starts to heal in the area they micro-fractured. Just keep it moving in bed. I put a piece of wood under my leg and just kept sliding my foot up to my thigh then back again. This will keep your knee free from getting stiff and improve your range of motion. Oh ya, never do leg extensions or squats with any weights for at least a year.

  • This was the worst surgery ever . Had surgery done 1/07/2011.Pain is out of the world , after walking , standing on it for 30 mins ,knee buckle under at any given time ,seems as it will never heal .I rather had a knee replacement , they our back to just about normal in 6 weeks .Wish he never done this procedure especially without my Dr having my permission.

  • 0:15 How sharp is that thing? Oh man....

  • Thanks so much for sharing your video all I got was pictures of mine

  • Mike, did you have instability before the surgery? I had a huge procedure a year before this one and the doctor did a "Losee Procedure" where he used muscle and brought it down to the knee on the medial side and for the first time since I blew it out in 1987, I had stability and loved it. Since this surgery, I have instability and my knee will buckle-I think that's the word I want. I am really wishing I wouldn't have had the surgery but my surgeon from the year before, thought this was right.

  • @survivrs oops, I meant the lateral side of my knee. I am really wishing I wouldn't have had this done. I begged right up until they put the mask on my face that they give me a total knee replacement but no such luck. They tell me up to a year to heal-f**king lovely! I'm sick to death of waiting for it to stop hurting and to stop going out on me. I feel like I was a guinea pig. After all, at age 50, I'm not going to go out and play hardcore sports like I did when I was 20.

  • Dam is this what i had done two weeks ago , does ait lil holes they seme more like potholes . but feeling good will be 3 weeks this thursday , knee feeling strong almost feel i can handle all my weight.

  • It's been between 11-12 weeks since my surgery and I have so much more pain in my knee than I had, I am just sick about it. Also, I now have instability in the knee that had been fixed completely in a surgery a year ago since I blew it out back in '87,and even though it's not a lot of instability, it was the one thing I had to be grateful for. The pain is horrible. I take Vicodin for my back, and it doesn't even help the knee. I hope others have better luck than I did.

  • not me i had my knee worked on at the base in GA and i still crnge just to walk or stand up.

  • @mike1860mike Sorry about your pain. How far out are you from your surgery? As I said, I have issues that I'm not happy with, and I don't have strength in my leg that I used to have. I am getting more brave when it comes to stairs but I keep ahold of the rail always. They told me 3-12 months to heal. I'm guessing it will take the whole 12 months.

  • @survivrs I had mine done around last may..ish. lol, I am doing better i can run and walk etc... but like yesterday i had severe pain BEHIND the knee, i couldnt walk... and today it went out on me trying to step up a curb.. I also noticed that if I try to carry anything much the knee cap seems to "shift"

  • @mike1860mike your right about most of the pain behind the knee cap. Any pain mean rest up,keep your leg moving in bed while you slide it up-down about 70 times (i put a piece of wood down) to keep your range of motion an strengthen your muscles, then ice it. Then repeat at least 4 times a day. You will feel better the next day but don't go back to normal activities and limit physical therapy. Remember the most important thing is to get off of it for very long periods during the first 4 months.

  • This is a perfect video for showing why it's needed, and what it actually looks like. Greg Oden had this done and his need has been fine. Too bad just last week he dislocated his other knee.

  • Lol he is always hurt...

  • Just had this done today, also had the femur bone shaved and loose bone and cartilage remove. Its sore

  • I blew out my knee in 1987, in 1990 had my 1st of 7 surgeries on the knee. My most recent which was 4 weeks ago, was a partial knee replacement with microfracture surgery to try and rebuild my cartilage in the other half of the knee. The pain is worse now than before so I hope it's doing well. I wish I knew when I could expect the pain to be gone or at least improve!

  • I had microfracture two years ago at the same time i had ACL reconstruction. ACL repair worked, microfracture didn't, and now i'm in horrible pain all the time. I'm a huge athlete, played sports my entire life, now i can't run, can't do stairs, can't bend and straighten my leg while my weight is on it or it will give out...i can never play sports again. i hope yours goes a lot better, good luck.

  • I left one thing out earlier. A year ago, I had another ACL and the doctor performed a Losee procedure-not sure about the spelling. He used muscle tissue on the lateral side, brought it down and sutured it which gave me the most stable knee I'd had since before my first injury. Good luck with yours. It sucks to always be an athlete and then not even be able to go up/down stairs. I'm going to go see my other surgeon, maybe he can fix it. With the partial, I doubt it though.

  • I left out one very important detail for anyone who might be looking at this surgery. My surgeon told me that it will take between 3-12 months to heal. I'm leaning towards the 12 months and pissed as hell that he messed up my knee just as bad as it was, just different.

  • i am not looking forward to this on thursday

  • is this like a severe one

  • Had that done to my left knee over 3 years ago. Now, I'm due for a partial or total knee orthoplasty in the next coming years........

  • hey i had that done march 6th just a couple months ago
