this assembly is such a pain. if yr gonna undertake this piece make it large and use some stiff ass paper and youll have jess of a headache. its the assembly, of course, that really bites. im doing my secong, 1st was ca 2 yrs ago, and shes small and the paper - too goddamn thin!

I tried to make it with origami paper, and I fould that it wasn't very stable. So I gave up.

origami paper isn't made to be durable as "support beams", you should use normal, simple paper. or better yet, thick paper.

Stability has a lot to do with getting the 1:3 ratio absolutely perfect. Too wide makes them buckle losing support.

Since this model was clearly mathematically derived, there isn't much wiggle room with error. I've made dozens of these and normal Origami paper works quite well as long as you have practice cutting squares in to 3rds.

Try Origami Foil-backed paper though. It makes an extremely solid and beautiful model.

yea...the third one is always tricky to put in. If i don't make one for a while i usually find one, take out two of the triangles, then make the new one like that one
