Contra 4 Challenge Video Guide: Speed Run 3

I actually just beat this challenge, and I even had a couple of seconds left to spare. No joke.  The trick is you got to jump onto that rope-thing before the counter even starts counting. You can jump before the screen pans fully to the left. Hardest part is getting past those purple blobs, but once you get past em it's cakewalk.

Mmm, this one's a toughie. I completed it with :00 left on the clock. Really, minimal room for error.

i barely made it, i had someting like less than a half of a second left but i made it : P

at first i climb up the rope, then shoot up to kill those 2 pink thingies, then just go for it.

Ohhh... and the 3rd main trick is: you can start moving before the screen is finished painting. Thx Tom finished it now - very helpful.

Hey Tom, can you make one with bad guy blitz 4 and 5? I think those are the numbers. One of them is the on the jungle with the robots that keep rebuilding themselves, and then the blitz after that one. Thanks

?_? You guys are imagining things. It might be because of the low frame rate that I had to record at, but I can guarentee that I'm running...normal speed.

I don't even know why I'm saying this. How would I be running faster than normal?

It's because it's stretched sideways, almost double the screen width of the DS, so when he runs sideways, it looks like he's running twice as fast. I noticed it to actually.

OOOHHHH that. I recommend pressing the button that stretches or unstretches the window once so that it's at it's original resolution.

How do you mean? It's the normal running speed. You may wanna check your direction pad on your DS. :P

This challenge took me so many tries to complete. It's so crazy how you have to beat it with only two seconds left :P

i havn't played contra 4 but by seeing this video i wonder if contra 3 was better

nope, it's not. Contra 3 is definitely a classic, and worthy of recognition, but I like Contra 4 way better. There's way more unlockables, way more diversity in the levels, a grappling hook, and better graphics. It's much better, believe me.

Yeah, Contra 4 is fun as hell but I still think Hard Corps is easily my favorite.

I can't believe that's where the end of the level is. I always lose and I'm only a few feet away from that last ledge the challenge ends on.

It took me about 10 tries to figure out how to save time and dodge those aliens, this one specially was pretty hard but getting Lucia after doing this was worth it

Just completed it yesterday man!

Like took me at least 5 or 6 straight attempts at Normal mode and was able to get to the last boss without continuing....were i used up 3 continues trying to figure out how to dodge his attacks ahaha!

Was well worth it...now trying hard mode (2nd level boss made me lose two lifes on Hard GRRRRR!!!).

It was insane difficult...this game is probably one of the most difficult Contras, it makes Contra Hardcorps look so patterned in comparison!!
