  • John im sorry for saying anything about you . but I like you.

  • great looking and sounding guitar

  • Yes, it has the mini humbucking pickups. How much high gain compared to what?

  • Been through all the major US makers (Fender,Gibson,Rickenbacker) this is the first I'm totally happy with . Love my Taylor

  • played this guitar at guitar center loved it, great with OD too

  • Can I raise the action and set the inotation on this guitar myself or do I have to send it off to get it set up?

  • Of course the guitar can be set up but how much do you know about that kind of skill?

It's best to let a pro do it but if you do try make sure you have someone as backup in case you're not happy with the end result.

    Thanks

  • @johnhguitar

Thanks! Cause I was just wondering because Ive only played Taylor acoustics before and didn't know what to expect from a Taylor solid body electric and haven't seen one in person yet. I have been playing guitar for almost 12 years and set-up almost all my guitars and learned all I know from friends/luthier's. Sweet sounding guitar though! I cant believe your getting that kind of tone with just bare finger picking. Definitely a guitar I will be considering.

  • Who gives a rip whether it can do metal or not. If I wanted noise I'd get a cat and stick his head in a tin can and rub his butt raw with a corn cob and then poor Methiolate on his rear. Sounds just like metal to me. By the way John, your hate looks good.

  • OUCH!

  • @TheStratman2617 sorry, I meant your hat not hate. My dad and his cousin actually did that to a cat years ago when they were just boys only they stuck his head in a cowboy boot and left his butt hanging out.

  • Stratman, you from Australia? Do I know you? I lived in Perth for 10 years and traveled all around the big island/continent. You're funny mate!

  • @TheStratman2617 narrow minded trolls.

  • @TheStratman2617 Dude! You're fucking sick!

  • Yeah....but can it do metal? ; )

  • How would I know?

  • @johnhguitar

If you could do metal, you'd know the answer. ; )

  • i love how dramatic he looks when he says iconic XD

  • Not only do I like your hat, I have also ordered a Taylor SolidBody in sage green with a black pickguard & the mini-humbuckers.

    Thanks for posting.

  • I am seriously looking at the Taylor SB Classic. I have watched this clip countless times and find this much more helpful than the company vids! I really enjoy your confortable but informative style and your playing is just great. I got several nice licks just forom this review. I have been playing for about 40 years now! I really get a lot out of your lesson and guitar review vids. Keep em. comin. . Thanks for the really useful info from those of us who are serious about guitar.

  • That's some sweet playing! Here's one teenager who doesn't want to beat the piss out of you for your hat.

  • honestly you deserve more recognition for your guitar skills, you are quite talented, and versatile as all hell

  • Nice review, thanks for posting. Taylor's acoustics are sweet, glad to see there electrics are nice too.

  • Guitar sounds awesome.

  • i love that guitar.....its bright and twangy like a tele but warm and fat like an es-335 all at the same time....its beautiful.

  • I have a Taylor Electric and I have trouble having it feel balanced when I am sitting down. I love the sound but I have a balance issue. Is anyone else having that issue?

  • Could you tell me what amp that is?

  • Roland Cube 30

  • Sweet axe! I LOVE Taylor guitars. They really nailed the solid body electric. It looks like you're wearing a mic, but I can't hardly hear you. Can you get your sound guy to balance the levels a bit more for future demos pls? Great picking by the way. gracias. dave

  • beautiful guitar, great review....are those pickups standard size humbuckers? would they fit in say a 335 or a les paul? Oh yea fuck these guys talking shit about your hat...who the fuck cares about what your wearing?????

  • Thanks for the interest. These pickups aren't the same size as a regular humbucker.

My hat? Why on earth would anyone care about my ugly looks?

  • Nice review. I used to have the solid body classic but didn't love the mini HB's so sold it. But the guitar it'self was lovely, a very resonant instrument with a really nice neck. I should have kept it becuase Taylor brought out interchangable pickguards so I could have swapped to their SC's which sound very nice.

    Anyway, great lessons and reviews!

  • two piece body? I'm surprised.......I thought it would be one piece, all the way thru.

  • sweet hat bro!!!!!

  • I bet the Aluminium saddles will wear real quick.

  • Hey John H - You look great in that western get-up. Nice review too. I have the *cheap* Classic version on lay away.

People - Try one at your local shop. Check the serial number (YYYYMMDDxxx). You may be able to get a deal if the shop has had it a few years.

    thanks /k

  • Great review. Thanks. I'm considering one of these in the Classic style (the ones with the plug-and-play pickguards).

  • nice guitar, good review.

  • Could really use a microphone. Had to crank it up to hear you..then I get blasted by the guitar. :P

  • Thanks for this and all your demos John. I really enjoy them. I played a Taylor Solid Body through a Fender Deluxe Reverb and Fender Twin Reverb and got nice, clean, full sounds. I think this guitar offers a great deal for those who like to play a lot of varied styles. Anything from jazz, to country pickin', to true blues as you demonstrate would work well on this one.

  • @nobodiesxpert I know you said everything but what about rock? Cause while I play country ands tuff I want rock too!!

  • I tried a few rock lead solo pieces (particularly Hotel California because of all the string bends) and it was tough getting the notes out of it. A better guitar player or a better setup may have produced better results.

  • dude im not even looking at that guys hat. that guitar is SWEET.

  • Nice guitar. I don't know what is worse: that ridiculous hat or that atrocious shirt.

  • How about the barffy words coming out of your month assbreath?

  • I love the fact you think youtube is public. If you look around there thousands of people doing dumb things beside me and my hat. What do you think of the guitar without saying anything about me?

  • @johnhguitar Dude I love the shirt the hatandthe guitar. Keep going with all your stuff. Most people dont realize that this content is all free and you are not obligated to do such reviews

  • Yeah! Thanks for not knocking the shit out of me. I've summed up the youtube video world;

IT'S A CHANCE FOR 13 YEAR OLD KIDS TO KNOCK THE VERBAL PISS OUT OF AN ADULT WITHOUT HAVING TO FACE HIM IN PERSON.

  • Hey I now have enough money to go for one of these, but an american standard strat is also the same price. I mostly do rock and contemporary styles. Any thoughts?

    Thanks

  • They are totally different. You might need 'em both.

  • @johnhguitar Might...haha come on you can never have to many guitars.

  • @MrJackanthony I don't know if this is to late but Strat is much more of an all purpose guitar. While a Les Paul my excel in tone like the classic solid rock kind of tone while a strat can imitate that, maybe not as well, but it's good for all styles. That's why the strat is very popular. If you really really like the tone of the Taylor then go for it.

  • @PotentialFreedom Thanks. I took the leap of faith and went for a 2008 american standard strat. Boy is it an all purpose guitar! Dont know what I did without one. I had a squire before and playing this made me wanted to chop the squire up for firewood. There's so much of a difference. I couldnt find a taylor guitar where I live so I dont know what Im missing. thanks again.

  • @MrJackanthony get a tele.

  • @82markyboy Yeah I wil as soon as I get some cash. Thanks 4 ur input.

  • @johnhguitar HEY! I AM NOT 13 AND I AM not going to knock the verbal piss out of you either because you're awesome! We all owe you for all your help. Heck if it weren't for your reviews I would probably own a guitar right now that I regretted buying with every bone in my body.

    So thank you.

  • You've come up with a good total :)

  • @johnhguitar I only noticed your hat from this comment :P

  • @johnhguitar I agree, someone likes wearing their hat, it's got nothing to do with whether they've given a balanced review of the guitar or whether their playing is good. Everyone has their own style & what appeals to them in the guitar world. You make a great sound Mr Johnguitar and thanks for doing good stuff !

  • you have ego problems

  • sounds as rich as a piano!

  • Beautiful, rhythmical product. Bravo!

  • Oh when shall I visit my home country? The land of great artists, composers, scientists, etc. One day I will visit the town of HEUSENSTAMM and be reminded that my family at one time was truly honorable.

    Thanks for your comment.

  • amazing.

  • Holy shit. How about that figured walnut!!!

  • can I ask you which is the best guitar for you . on all the guitar you have tried.

  • I can't answer that.

  • i own one like this not all walnut its flame top and it ROCKSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS

  • I love this guitar! I hope they make a double cutaway guitar! -PK

  • if its a guitar and it says taylor on it, you will never be disappointed

  • Damn nice clean tone for humbucker pups

  • Somebody loan me a couple of grand

  • man i want that thing so bad and i've never even played it.

i just know its beautiful and if its a taylor it will be amazing. amiriteoramirite?!

  • robert want taylor solid body.

  • I so want one of those

  • me too, but im stuck on getting either that or the t5

  • Very interesting.

  • damn i want one of those!

  • i played one at the london guitar show(hawiian koa top), and i was truely blown away... a really remarkable instrument!

  • mixture of gibson lespaul custom and fender stratocaster... lovely

  • i almost got one of these. but i decided i wasnt gonna buy a guitar this expensive and only play metal on it so i went with a schecter damien 6

  • very albert king sound in that awsome guitar

  • very nice guitar, it just sucks that it;s the first full electric that Taylor has made and they made it damn expensive...Still I love it.

  • agreed. Its nearly $4500AU over here. In my opinion its cool but its not nearly worth the price.

  • I love the fact that you use your fingers! I do too, basically because I never really learned to play with plectrums (because I kept loosing them:P). Now I see you sometimes use a pick as well, but thats cool. I was just wondering if you could give me any tips, regarding what to look out for, how to/not to pick with the fingers, and maybe even what string types and thickness I should go for. I do not really know a lot myself about those types of things, and I do not have a teacher.

    Thanks =)

  • I use tens ,010 on the guitars that I bend notes on. As far as how to use your fingers just use them. Get a classical guitar method book and learn the exercises in there for the right hand....Carcassi is a good one....john

  • thanks!

  • so how much does it retail for?

  • wow thats a great guitar... it sounds just as amazing as it looks. and did anyone notice that John is wearing a volcom sweatshirt? it doesnt really suit him haha

  • What a great review and a really nice guitar... Thanks a lot. :-)

  • Forget the review. I like your skills more than the guitar

  • What gauge strings do you use in these reviews? A lot of them sound really thin.

  • I have the volume down really low so it doesn't drowned out my voice. We're set up quite poorly to get a maximum guitar sound. The amp is just a Roland Cube 30 but it makes all the reviews a fair contest...

  • Fantastic review and tone.

Could you tell me what settings did you used on the amp. please? cause i own the same one.

  • sounds like tweed with a little gain

  • Yes!!! you frickin' expert!!!! Tweed with a little gain. Your a smatr player. Thanks for the comment......John

  • thanks

  • John looks at the Taylor Solid Body Custom guitar using a Roland Cube 30 amp

    See description :)

  • it looks great. sounds great too

  • Thanks heaps, John. The guitar sounds amazing, and looks great. Taylor make some astoundingly good stuff.

  • This is an amazing guitar...but then again John could probably make a 2x4 sound sweet

  • Great tone from that Taylor. I'm wondering what amp you're playing through? I'm thinking it might be a good comparison to play a standard strat and then the new guitar being reviewed so we can get a good comparison of a known guitar tone vs. the reviewed guitar tone. When I hear great tone like this I'm always left wondering just a bit if its really the guitar or a killer amp and effect setup that I'm digging.

  • He's is using a Roland cube 30 for all the guitar reviews he's done, so you can compare tones.

  • sounds real sweet

  • that's a pretty sweet blues tone

  • this would be killer for blues tho

  • hmm i would want a rosewood fingerboard on this, more bite.

  • Wow, it looks really nice. Thanks for the review!
